The Kobo Mini eReader is on sale for $39.99, and after a little research it appears to be slightly hack-able. I'm thinking that I'd be dumb not to get one. Thinking about setting it up as a weather display for a start.

Mail server configuration update
I just spend the last several hours working on the Postfix and Dovecot configuration on my mail server. When I did the initial mail setup I had to follow several different tutorials to get what I thought I wanted, and in the end it wasn't working how I had expected.
So with nothing better to do tonight I decided to rework the configuration on my (only, live, production) mail server. I decided to follow the "ISPmail" tutorials from workaround.org.
The tutorial was great and easy to follow, but I ran into several problems because I'm running in the 2.x branch of Dovecot that comes with Ubuntu Server 12+ and the instructions were written for Dovecot 1.x. But with the help of some Googling and reading the comments on the tutorial I was able to get the configuration working with Dovecot 2.x.
Tinkering with crazy complex systems like Postfix always leads to a fun time.
Want.
My truck has been without A/C for a while now. So since it is rapidly becoming Summer, I started working on a little solution. (It's my version of a "swamp-cooler")
Mail servers are fun! (/sarcasm)
For some reason or another I decided that since I run my own web server, it should be hosting my email as well (I have been using Google Apps). So for the last ten days or so I have been fighting Postfix (SMTP) and Courier (IMAP) to get it running properly on my Linode, and I have finally succeeded! My next steps are to get real SSL certs, enable DKIM, and PGP/GPG message signing (not necessarily in that order). More fun lies ahead.
Arch Linux pacman issues
So I decided to switch my linode (which hosts my website) over to arch linux. But while attempting to get the system up-to-date I kept running into this error:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
glibc: /usr/bin/tzselect exists in filesystem
glibc: /usr/sbin/zdump exists in filesystem
glibc: /usr/sbin/zic exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Turns out that the solution for me was to update tzdata first (pacman -S tzdata), then I was able to update the system (pacman -Syu).

Open-source rocks!
So, I contributed to my first open-source project this week. I did something small, but it was still really cool to try and help improve someone else's program. Plus, Tiny Issue is great and I'll do what I can to make it even better!
Shot a short timelapse of the UT Tower and world's largest Texas flag.
I heard about Fizl through one of my favorite blogs, onethingwell.org. So in my time of procrastination over the past week I rewrote my site using Fizl as the CMS.
Doctor, Doctor Who?
So, on some kind of whim my dad started watching the Doctor Who TV series on Netflix. He liked it, and so I started watching as well.
The series started in 1963, and with it's reincarnation in 2005 it has become so engrained in geek culture that I already knew a bit about the Doctor without even ever watching so much as a clip from an episode.
But ever since watching the first episode on Netflix I have been hooked! I've managed to watch 31 episodes in three days thanks to spring break, and I might even have watched them all by week's end.
If you have a Netflix subscription check it out! You'll probably like it if you're reading this.
Logic Problem
In some homework for my logic class I came across this little problem. I'm sharing it here because it's actually useful, this isn't word for word but close enough.
You have three buckets, one 8-gal full of water, one empty 5-gal, and one empty 3-gal. Prove or disprove that you can use these buckets to measure out 4 gallons of water.
Here's my solution: Each column is a bucket, 8-gal, 5-gal, 3-gal. Each line is a step towards 4-gal and each number is an amount of gallons.

Done!
Took this shot on the 2/9/12 UT Photowalk, and I absolutely LOVE this view. I can't wait until construction is done so I can re-take it.
This looks like a sweet bag! It's now on the top of my photo wishlist.
