Pretty Important (and Sad) News

I don't really how to frame this nicely, so I'll be blunt: I don't enjoy roleplaying on this account. I no longer have a muse for Dom; she seems like a character rather than a person.

So it is with a heavy, reluctant heart that I bid you all farewell, but I think this is for the best. For me, and for my rp partners. Find someone who enjoys rping no matter what, because for now, I just...don't.

I will never regret making this account and making friends with all of you. I can't and won't forget the hilarious, sad, scary, and amazing threads we've created and contributed to.

“It hasn’t been long at all.” Reigh led her through their back yard, trying her best to avoid their abundance of hunting dogs that had swarmed around the newcomer. “Get back, Dawg. I know she’s pretty, but you can’t have her.” She gently pushed the Blue Tick out of the way for her friend. “We’re gonna go to the river. You cool with that?” She led her onto a gravel road that cut through thick woods, climbing over a short barbed wire fence.

“Doggy!” She gently pet the top of the dog’s head, taking a few seconds longer to process Reigh’s question. “Hm? Oh, sure! The river sounds fun.”

It was a good thing she didn’t wear shorts; as she followed her friend over the fence, the hem of her jeans caught on one of the barbs. “Crap, hang on.” She ripped her jeans away, leaving a small hole. “So. Whaddya wanna talk about?”

“I should of brought my machete. The trail has grown up a bit.” She said as she pushed branches and leaves out of her way, holding them back as Dom walked behind her. To say she lived in the woods was an understatement. She lived in a thicket. “We could talk about how glorious the weather is, but you know, that’s cliche, or we could talk about how you must be sweating to death in those jeans.” Alabama was hot, but more than that it was humid. It may have been the afternoon, but the air was practically all water. Sweat was pouring from Reigh even though they had only been outside for a few minutes.

"You have a machete? Wait, of course you do, never mind. Forget I asked."

She grimaced. "Yech, tell me about it. I had no idea it would be so hot down here. Like seriously, I feel like every single part of me that can sweat is sweating." She paused to roll her jeans up to her knees. "There, that's better. Sort of.

"It really is nice here, though," she continued. "I mean, other than the humidity, which sucks, but at least it's pretty."

What she wanted to do was ask her friend why she had bolted off and out of New York, but she didn't want to just outright ask that. This had to be approached carefully.

Dom nodded, putting her hands in her pockets. “Lead the way, Reigh.” She noticed her friend’s accent seemed to have…southerned up a bit, in her words. “Yeah, I guess it really hasn’t been that long. Like, a couple of weeks?”

In truth, a couple of weeks was forever for Dom; she was used to seeing her friends on at least a daily basis, even if it was only during meals and training.

He reached out and shook her hand, rolling his eyes behind the visor of his helmet. She seemed nice enough. He wondered just how much he could trust her. Would she continue accepting him if she knew he hadn’t been born to human parents? What would she say to the fact that his face more closely resembled that of his terrapin nature than of the human face she was likely expecting? Would the giant shell faze her?

He took off the other glove, revealing yet another green, three-digit hand, before reaching up to take off the helmet. “I hope you weren’t expectin’ a handsome prince, Dom,” he said as he flashed her a weary grin, red starting to show in his eyes. He hadn’t gotten a decent night’s rest in far too long.

“Nah, princes are overrated. And bad stuff usually tends to happen to them anyway.”

She would be lying if she said she wasn’t a little bit surprised to see a reptilian face, but she wasn’t scared. (Then again, after being attacked by six people, “scary” got a whole new definition, and turtle-people weren’t on that list. Lizard monsters, on the other hand, were.)

“…I do have one question, and you don’t really have to answer it. But like…how do you stay hidden so well? Because you’re kinda like, really tall. Do you just blend in, or are you a ninja or something?”

“I’m a ninja, kid. It was part o’ my training growing up. We were freaks in a world that didn’t have freaks, so we had to learn to stay in the shadows whenever we went to the surface for supplies. Works best if you’re a ninja, so Papa just trained us in everything ninjutsu,” Raphael explained, letting out a long yawn as he finished. He smiled as he stopped to realize that the girl hadn’t fled. She’d actually reacted with a lot of respect, which made her a trustworthy person in the turtle’s eyes.

"That makes sense, learning ninjutsu so you can be all sneaky and hidden and stuff." She nodded, and then her eyes lit up. "Oh! I thought about what you said before we met. About the whole being part of some group thing? I guess I kinda am, now that I think about it." She looked down at her feet. "Only problem is I have no idea how they found out about it." Her cheery mood was replaced with puzzled, frightened feelings, making her frown slightly. "I guess...I guess I just never really believed bad things could happen to me."

Reighann had locked herself away in her room in the back of the house, much like she always did when it was just her and her mother home. She had her music up as loud as she possibly could without waking her mom, which surprisingly was extremely loud, and was reading the same book she had already read twice since she’d been home. It was sad, and for some reason, she felt like sadness over her book was far more justified than sadness over her own life.

She heard a knock on the old wooden door on the front porch and was slightly startled. No one who knew them ever used the front door. The knock clearly hadn’t woken her mother, who was snoring loudly in the room across from hers, so Reighann turned the music down and bolted towards the door. She took a deep breath before turning the knob, silently praying that the person behind the heavy piece of oak wasn’t someone she didn’t want to see. As she opened the door, a huge smile stretched across her face.

“I so did not actually believe you were coming!” She shrieked as she took her friend in her arms.

Dom laughed, managing to get her arms out of Reighann’s grip so she could hug her back. “Of course I was coming! Why would I lie about something like that?”

She stepped back from her friend and grinned. “Man, it feels like forever since we’ve seen each other. How are you?” She could hear faintly hear music and the sound of someone snoring from inside the house. “Do you wanna like, go for a walk or something?”

“Sure!” She finally let go of Dom and pulled the door shut behind her, letting the screen slam as she walked onto the porch. She vaguely remembered Dom telling her that she had never really been in the woods. Reighann looked around her; everything was woods. She debated with herself whether to take her down to a cave or to the river, but the sun was beginning to set, so she settled for the river. “WE can walk to the river. It’s just through the woods a bit. It really does seem like it’s been a while, even though it hasn’t, really.” Her southern accent had thickened since she had been home, and she caught herself dropping s’s.

Finally, after countless hours of being stuck on her motorcycle and getting lost, she was finally here. She hopped off of her bike, slowly pushing it along a dirt road.

An old wooden sign with the word “HOOD” on it soon came into view. Well, this is it. In all honesty, Dom was a little bit terrified. She had no idea what to expect; what if Reigh didn’t actually want her here?

Bullshit. She would’ve said so if that were true.

She eventually came upon what looked like a log cabin. Parking her bike, she walked up to the front door and knocked. Please let Reigh answer the door.

“Name’s Raphael. You okay with… people that have… other appearances?” he asked, once again displaying the gloved hand that didn’t have the right number of fingers. Then, slowly, he reached up with his other hand and slowly removed the glove, revealing the green skin of his hand.
