Every month, Bryn and Yelena had a tradition of meeting up for “bloody Marys”- as they called them- and catching up with eachother
He couldn’t remember how long they had been doing it for, before this they used to go hunting together- the two of them and Sasha, a little trio, they kept in touch even when they were countries apart, and when they lived nearer to eachother, they made a point of seeing eachother as much as they could
Eventually ofcourse, that trio had just turned into a duo, Bryn had initially wondered if Yelena would even want to stay freinds with him with Sasha gone, but if anything she surprisingly had seemed to double down, as though refusing to lose Bryn the way she had lost her original connection to him
“Privet Yelena!” he called as soon as she came into sight
“How’s my favorite general?”

Bryn was one of Yelena’s oldest friends. She could barely recall meeting him once upon a time centuries ago. She had introduced him and Sasha to each other, and the three of them had been good friends, until Sasha’s death. Where Yelena was usually cold and ruthless, she had a soft spot for Bryn and she understood him, having lost her own partner as well many years prior. She had felt that she had no cause to go on back then, but she had perservered, which had led her to finding Kanopia, her soulmate. So she had refused to let Bryn off himself, knowing that if she could move on, find love again, then he would be able to as well.
She nodded at him when he called out to her, walking up to him and sitting down next to him. “Bryn. It’s good to see you. Especially without one of your many cats in tow.” Yelena had never been much of a pet person, at least not when it came to dogs and cats. She preferred larger, wilder animals. “I am well. I miss New York, but I suppose I’ve settled in alright here in Hollywood. Even if I have to get used to a different… power dynamic.” She wasn’t fond of settling under the Charbonneau name. “But I have Kan with me, and you are here as well, so it’s not all bad. And you? How’s work?”
“Ah well, you know them, not really the social types,” he chuckled back, offering her a warm, familiar smile
“It’s good to see you too though, you know I look forward to our little meet-ups,”
Everything had changed in the world since Bryn’s early years as a vampire- everything except for Yelena that is, so it was no wonder he tended to stick close to her, especially with Sasha gone...
“Ah, you mean with the Charbonneaus? Yes, knowing you that doesn’t surprise me at all, how is Kanopia adjusting to the new... power dynamic?”
Bryn himself had never been too fussed by the thought of signing his loyalty on with another, and he had given his loyalty to many over the centuries, he and Sasha had always just been interested in living a quiet, peacefull life together, so whatever had allowed them to do that was something Bryn would usually agree with
“Well I’ve been in more hostile places than Hollywood, and work.... I don’t know, I know most people would be thrilled to be models but I don’t quite see the appeal, it’s fine though, honestly it’s just a place-holder until I figure out something else to do,”
He and Sasha had wanted to open a little bookstore together right before Sasha died, ever since he had just been bouncing around from one meaningless thing to another to fill time, hoping that someday he’d be struck by another passion
“What about you? I’m very excited to hear about how your work is going,”
