you're free to have whatever interpretation of a character with whatever personal reasonings but the moment you make statements about how a character should be portrayed in response to traumas around things like abuse, violations of their autonomy, etc. then you're not only showing how narrow and limiting your perception of sexual dynamics and kink are but you're also being invalidating toward real life people who did not in fact have the response to their trauma that you reckon they ought to have bc people are complex and the ways they can react to trauma are incredibly varied

ppl's perceptions of characters being warped for headcanon/fanon/shipping purposes is something absolutely rampant in fandoms but i also think there's a problem with people being unable or unwilling to recognize when something is just meant to be self-indulgent horny posting and not a genuine analysis of the character as they exist in canon
