More inadvisable ways to introduce a replacement for a dead Dungeons & Dragons character mid adventure: 

Hanging from a gallows, apparently dead, only to speak up and request help getting down at the party’s approach; when they ask how you survived, simply remark that you have a very strong neck  

Appearing in a flash of light in response to some seemingly innocuous action, tearfully thanking the party for “finally breaking the curse”  

The next ogre or other large humanoid the party encounters is wielding you as a club  

Wandering aimlessly from around the next bend, peering at an enormous fold-out map and loudly insisting you could have sworn this was the way to Waterdeep  

Falling screaming from the sky, and landing miraculously unharmed; if questioned, mutter something about bats and refuse to elaborate  

(replacement character is at least one size category smaller) It turns out that you were in the deceased character’s backpack the whole time

Okay this probably doesn’t make much sense but. Characters carrying traits of their afterlife after revival?

Around Tommy, the lights always seem a bit dimmer, everything just a little harder to hear. Touch slightly sluggish and delayed, but all the more intense. He no longer bleeds, breathes, even visibly ages. Cut him open and you’d find all inside him to be an empty, colourless void.

When cut, he bleeds oil and not blood. Thin, smooth metal covers his deepest wounds. His arm, the side that bleeds, is fully mechanical, made out of train pistons and discarded scrap metal, but it feels warm and human to the touch.

Yet another reminder that faking is a conscious choice that you make.

It is not something you can do accidentally, regards of what you're talking about.

You can't accidentally fake depression, or anxiety, or bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia, or any other mental illness.

You can't accidentally fake Borderline Personality Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder, personality disorders.

You can't accidentally fake ADHD, autism, Tourette's Syndrome, auditory processing disorder, aphasia or any other neurodivergence

You can't accidentally fake being trans or ace-spec or aro-spec or any other LGBTQIA+ identity.

You can't accidentally fake chronic illnesses like CFS, fibromyalgia or any chronic illness.

You also can't accidentally fake being good/intelligent at something. You didn't fool your peers into reaching your position.

You can't accidentally fake trauma, PTSD/cPTSD, DID/OSDD/DDNOS or any other trauma-based disorder.

Tldr:

Faking is a conscious choice.

You cannot do it by accident.

If you are worried that you are faking, that in itself is proof that you are not.

"ohh but it'll take them longer to realize they're actually gay" i know my experiences aren't universal but like. if i wasn't ready to face my lesbianism then i was Not Ready, you could've eliminated every other label in existence and i still wouldn't have accepted it. if anything, the ability to try out different labels helped me learn about myself, explore the community, and accept that maybe not being straight wasn't so bad.

remember when griffin put a cute little fishing minigame in a taz liveshow and magnus punched the fisherman into the lake and he got eaten by a fish then taako cast reverse gravity then magnus jumped into the water to cut open the fish and save the guy. what the fuck. what is it about d&d, specifically liveshows too, that make people just fucking. go hog wild. they forget how normal people behave. they could have just fished. like. there was no reason to a) be so antagonistic, b) cast reverse gravity, or c) jump back in to try and save the guy. there was no reason! “I didn’t give the fish a fucking charisma stat clint!”
