forever uninterested in sweeping takes that insist on any superhero character as revolutionary or posed against the system it is all just very much the fallacy of [all of x is inherently y!] <- this is simply never true. and it applies to the capes genre as a whole but people trying to argue batman is inherently anti cop or anti establishment or anti anything is just so unserious every time bc it reveals such a flaccid & uninformed & ridiculous understanding of structures & propaganda and culture and how these characters work as institutions and mouthpieces and operate on a level that goes beyond the literal and how they are just as much symbols of an establishment as they are nuanced fictional characters and how you can’t really separate the two when we’re having a discussion that’s trying to be in any way serious about the topic… ugh anyway
