okay first of all, happy season 4! first three episodes got me fucked up.

I wasn't ever going to ever write this because im a pussy on posting anything publicly BUT im feeling so starved I might as well contribute to tag I complain about having nothing.

William 🎸☕

William is a cuddlebug. Very touchy! Not just with Rick, but also his friends. Not in a weird way but in a way that makes you feel comfortable. When sleeping, he'll make sure Rick suffocates (not that he really can...) He actually needs prescription glasses. He never wears them and usually just wears contacts. He will wear them to classes. This one is actually a nod to the comics where he's seen wearing these nerdy ass glasses. I don't think he smokes, but he probably had. However, I believe he vapes... He can handle alcohol for sure, but the type to get really drunk if he let loose too much. He's careful and doesn't ACTUALLY get drunk most of the time. Maybe just tipsy enough. Related to the hc above- He's a honest and clumsy drunk. I've thought about this one for a while, but I think he's either an only child or has an older sister. He has chill parents. Knew he was gay from the beginning type and was okay with it. Too chill in fact, that it borders on neglect? He's learned how to be independent and learned how to do things by himself because of this. Adding to the hc above, I think its the reason why he sucks at driving. (other than the fact that gay people cannot drive /j)

Rick 🍺🤖

Rick is an insomniac even before the Sinclair incident. It only got worse after, scared of reliving the moment in his nightmares. Additionally, its why he oversleeps a lot. Also a nod to the comics where he oversleeps in his first meeting with Mark and William. Those two even made a joke about it too. Like William, he also needs prescription glasses. That got fixed after the GDA put him back together. He's tried a smoke once or twice but never really hooked to it. Oh, he can chug down alcohol alright. Would drink on a school night 100%. He's a reckless drunk. Literally almost jumped off a building. Unlike William's family, his family is more uptight and strict. Expectations and all. I feel like he'd be a middle or youngest sibling. Either way, he definitely has an older brother/sibling. Its in the comics so not really an hc, but he's ran away from home once already. His family def puts some expectation on him, like he's got an older brother/sibling to be compared to. Usually on academic stuff.

Now for some general willrick relationship ones!

They both try to be romantic/stereotypically chivalrous. Flowers, chocolates, valentines gifts, etc. They're not too big on very fancy dates. Just casual ones where they can hangout and spend some time together. They're both flirty with each other, more emphasis on William though. Flirting battle and Rick ends up flustered first. They like to car rot. or whatever it is people call it. This last one is hard to explain..... William tends to... run his mouth and say out of pocket things, which kind of makes Rick sulky? haha idk but in filipino is called matampuhin,, basta ganonnn But its pretend sulky just to get William to apologize.

You know, I hate hate HATE it when people call Kharaa a virus. It's described in the game as a bacteria! Viruses and bacteria are two very different organisms!!!

Bacteria can live freely in or outside of the body, while a virus needs a host to survive or else it would die. If Kharaa were a virus, it would spread via direct contact with 4546b's fauna. But because it's a bacteria, it contaminates the water directly.

While we're on the topic of misconceptions, I've seen people say 4546b is set in the Andromeda galaxy. Where in the game does it say this? Genuinely, I want to know.

Andromeda is still 2 million light years away from Earth, and assuming humanity has figured out the key to travelling at the speed of light, it would still take 2 million years whilst travelling at that speed.

Now this could be fine if not for the fact that Subnautica canonically takes place in the late 22nd century, so that's only 100+ years, not even past a thousand, making it impossible for humanity to have colonised Andromeda.

I need to see a person who has spent so long on a foreign planet, fighting for every meal and small comfort, they've not only figured out how to survive, but also integrated themself into the environment.

I need to see a Ryley who's so strongly part of the ecosystem that they'll willingly fight a stalker for a peeper. I need to see a Ryley who stops caring about the quality of food, as long as it's edible.

I need to see that person become a Creature. They've earned it methinks.

Comfort foods!

As an apology for all the (deleted) traumaposting, I present you you some Subnautica fluff ☺

Ryley's comfort food is a hot, steaming tuluk, a dish from his mother's birth country Vanuatu. It brings him back to a simpler time; When he'd eat with his family around the dinner table, and listen to his mother tease his father because even after twenty years, he still couldn't speak a lick of Bislama.

Robin's comfort food is canned stew. As someone who travels to multiple planets a year to study wildlife, homemade dinners aren't really an option. She needs something healthy but also something with a long shelf life. Multiple hours spent sitting snuggled in her bed and texting Sam while slurping veggie stew has earned the dish a place in her heart.

Marguerit's comfort food is a hearty serving of Mongolian tsuivan. It's the one thing she wishes she could have on 4546b (oh, and people, too. As long as they're not Alterran).

Bart's comfort food is baked Chinese potato, stuffed with bacon and cheese, and a tiny sprinkle of pepper and salt. It's filling, it's nutritious, and tastes good. He and his brothers would try different combinations; Potates with smoked salmon, potatoes with chives and cream. He finds himself missing those days as he succumbs to the bacteria.

Avery's comfort food (I'm including him for that one person who has him as a blorbo, you know who you are) is bacon and eggs on toast. Easy to prepare, and probably the only food that the rest of the Sunbeam crew all enjoy equally. He can't deal with anymore, "That looks gross," "I hate that dish," or "Sorry I'm allergic."

AL-AN's comfort food is NOTHING because he has no mouth and therefore cannon eat x)
