Robin and AL-AN who are exploring planets with signs of potential life, only to come across a "returned-to-frontier-life" Ryley Robinson already there, by command of Alterra.

Robin immediately starts to fangirl (she's read his book, obviously), but Ryley can't take his eyes of the huge alien centaur thing that's standing right next to her.

After explaining that AL-AN is an Architect, anger boils in Ryley's gut but he stops himself from lashing out. They're both victims of the Kharaa.

Ryley and Robin exchange their stories of 4546b. Ryley mistakenly mentions something forbidden from his signed NDA, and fears Alterra will come for him. His NoA node collects data even when he isn't watching; Is Alterra watching him now? Will they come for him?

"There's always room for another human on the Architect Homeworld," Robin gingerly offers. "You shouldn't be living with that kind of fear."

He hesitates. The Architects ruined his life. No, he corrects himself. Kharaa ruined his life, not them.

The longer he thinks about it, the more he realises that his life as a celebrity has become miserable. He's paraded around as a hero when he was anything but. He despises Alterra.

So Ryley packs his things, and now, there are twice as many humans for AL-AN to study.

Am I the only one who ever thought of not having enough oxygen to reach the surface and Ryley, realizing, would swoop in to help 'refill' the air back into your lungs ifykwim.

I think my favourite thing about our dynamic is how it means we've always been there for each other. Our dynamic is childhood friends to lovers, and I find that really cute. I remember trying to deny my crush on Ryley in the early days of knowing each other 😖

I don't know about a quirk that someone might find annoying (how could he ever annoy someone?) but I do know he does a lot of things with his hair!

He'll play with the strands while he's flustered, he'll smooth it back if he's feeling awkward and sometimes pulls at it when he's stressed.
