the thing is even if agab was something that gave someone an advantage in sports (it's not) that'd be such a stupid argument because we dont treat anything else like that. you don't see people clamoring to ban tall people from playing basketball.

Cleaning tips I actually found helpful
Which is of course personal preference, but I love to share.
If you get stuck in big decluttering projects because you run out of steam and then stuff is everywhere, switch to making decisions about one item at a time and dealing with it (put in correct spot where you would look first/donation box or throw it out). This both lets you see progress immediately and means you can stop whenever with no chaos. (x)
If the correct location where stuff goes has no more space, you need to purge stuff. Easiest rule: One in one out - in order to fit the new item, make a decision about one item in that location that can go. This way new item goes in the right place without creating more chaos.
When decluttering: If you wouldn't find this item in your home if you tried/wouldn't know you own it and can easily buy it again, get rid of it.
Stuff can get too unmaintained to be worth keeping (paper that got wet, clothes with mold on them, generally a thick layer of dust that would suck to clean), you can throw it out.
If you get overwhelmed with making decisions about items that accumulate again and again, slowly come up with rules. "I will only keep the 3 newest editions of this magazine, even if I haven't read everything." "Invoices older than x years can be thrown out." "This box is for recycling/donations. When it's full, it's time to make the trip./Any additional items will have to answer to the one in one out rule."
If you have trouble cleaning up a bunch of miscellaneous stuff in one area, see if going through these categories in order helps. I almost never manage to go through the whole list, but even checking a few categories means visible progress.
Likewise if you suffer from clutter blindness where stuff that sits in the same spot for a while will become invisible, you can push all of those little clutter heaps into one big heap and then use the linked list to sort it out. There might be stuff left after your first go, but I promise the volume will be smaller.
Increments help. Cleaning one spot, throwing out one item, fluffing one pillow will add up over time.
Admire the stuff you sorted/cleaned liberally. You get to enjoy the progress you made.
Anticipatory Dopamine has stalled me for so long and I didn’t even realise or learn about it until i was in my 20s. Like i knew i was good at imagining things, visualising what i hoped for but never ever thought how it can also be bad for me. I deliberately have to fight with my brain to not imagine, not believe in the image of me “achieving” what I dream of. I am having to continuously place value on the work done to “achieve” certain things. Hold proof of my own efforts and time spent to believe that I can “achieve” . Or else i am not giving myself the joy of imagining that, even if my brain wants me to show the image i deliberately try to evaluate myself to show my own brain the reality and not feel all happy. Idk if this makes sense.
I have this with anticipatory dread I guess? Like the more I think about tasks I don't want to do, the harder it becomes to start.
in happier pride news i actually found this deeply heartwarming
that's solidarity baybeeee
Further context: Durham city council (Reform UK) cut funding and support for Pride. The Durham Miner's Association and other trade unions raised enough money for Durham Pride 2026 to go ahead - a direct call back to when Lesbian and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) raised money for mining communities when Margaret Thatcher seized union funding during the miner strikes of 1984-85.
At the 1985 Labour party meet, the motion to support LGBT rights as a party was passed due to a block vote from mining unions.
Stephen Guy, the chair of the Durham Miners’ Association, said that when it became apparent Durham Pride was under threat, he took it upon himself to “encourage the trade union movement to step up and do the right thing, and stand shoulder to shoulder with the LGBT+ community […] They not only raised funds for us, but came to our communities, uplifted our spirits when they were down, and showed their solidarity.”
Solidarity between LGBTQ+ people and unions has saved an event denied ‘a single penny’ of council money

just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig

Rest = Lying Down, Eyes Closed Because other parts of the program from England made sense, I decided to try resting every afternoon. After some experimentation, I determined that the most restorative rest resulted from lying down in a quiet place with my eyes closed. I was surprised at the results from taking a 15-minute rest in mid-afternoon. Even that short break seemed to help, reducing my symptoms, increasing my stamina and making my life more stable. After a while I added a similar rest in late morning. Over time, I came to believe that my scheduled rest was the most important strategy I used in my recovery. Resting everyday according to a fixed schedule, not just when I felt sick or tired, was part of a shift from living in response to symptoms to living a planned life. The experience showed me that rest could be used for more than recovering from doing too much; it could be employed as a preventive measure as well. In the terms suggested by someone in our self-help program, I learned the difference between recuperative rest and pre-emptive rest. Surprisingly, taking pre-emptive rests greatly reduced the time I spent in recuperative rest, because I was experiencing much less Post-Exertional Malaise. The result was that my total rest time was reduced.
sometimes like an idiot i assume everyone has read bruce campbell on resting/pacing to handle post-exertional malaise affiliated with chronic fatigue. that is obviously not true! anyway here's the hot guide, i linked straight to the "schedule in mandatory complete 15 min rest as part of your day and hopefully you will get to do less surprise many hours of rest to recover" section but the whole thing is laid out pretty clearly

if you are a parent, or may become one, or you are otherwise likely to arrive in the situation of caring for a child while they eat, promise me this: if a child doesn't like a certain food or food group, you will ask them WHY. and specifically, you will pay attention to either confirming or ruling out "it makes my mouth itch" or "it makes my stomach hurt," both of which are medically important info that children may not provide unprompted. which i know because this PSA has been brought to you by "i spent my entire childhood and much of my early teens eating peas and lentils while wondering why everyone else liked the Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation so much, like were they a bunch of legume masochists or something, before i finally realized that Violently Itchy Mouth Sensation was in fact a sinister demon appearing only to me, and her true demonic name was: Legume Allergy"
Do not let your child suffer from spicy bananas!
If you are currently sitting or laying down this moment ask yourself if you are resting or rotting. Change your behavior accordingly
There is no romance in decay when the decaying is easy
You are naught but pawns in my game
I hope some of y'all take this as a sign to rest intentionally too.
if you're "resting" but thinking of all the things you have to do, that's not resting, that's rotting. Even if you haven't done anything all day, give yourself some time to rest and truly relax. When you let yourself relax guilt free, you actually regain energy for your responsibilities.
this post has helped me a number of times since I first saw it. I have realized I was rotting instead of resting, and depending on the circumstance, got up to do something, or settled more comfortably to actually rest.
Thank you.
"rot or rest" sounds like the world's worst game show
