I did the mistake of going through the blog of one of my followers. Lots of cockles content, lots of performative Jensen bs, lots of “h*phobic Jensen” tags. I mean, they literally had that “there’s no manly way to drink from a straw” post on their blog lmao. Alongwith obligatory “h*phobic Alan Ackles” commentary.

It’s the h*phobic Jensen tag that makes me lose it. Like do these people not know that Misha was the one who used gay as a derogatory term when it came to season 7 Dean/Cas interactions? Do they not know that Misha became super woke only to get followers/keep his career? That he’s the one who is performing for his audience, not Jensen?

I wish people would go through below posts to see how awful they’re being when they characterize Jensen (yes, Jensen not Dean) as bi/repressed/homophobic whatever. When they twist and turn his every word, every interaction to sell their cockles fantasy. How they’re essentially saying that men can’t have emotional attachment/platonic relationships with other men, and how they’re invalidating Jensen’s entire life as a lie.

Dean is literally the father figure in the show.

He is good, patient and understanding with all the kids, but especially with the troubled ones. Dean was shown being a father to Sam, to Ben. To change diapers and protect the shapeshifter’s baby. He has always been the caretaker; he is good and selfless—this is why some see subtext or whatever, by mistaking his care for affection. He loved and raised his brother, and he loved his friends, but anytime he had to choose between anyone else, no matter who: himself, Castiel, Adam, Lisa and Ben, he eternally chooses Sam.

And this is because he is the greatest big brother, more like a father to his little brother, who he had protected all his life. And this is a fact. How can you ignore 15+ years of evidence that Dean is smart, caring and genuinely good as a person and talk nonsense about him?

I pity those “fans” who don’t have enough to praise your favourites without the need to bring Dean down, to cover him with dirt; so your fave can look brighter and decent.

Good to see Jensen agreeing with my hc. Dean's such a dynamic, vibrant character, he might enjoy peace at times but he's at his best when he's living, when he's hunting, when he's helping people. Putting him in heaven for eternity was one of the worst possible endings for the character so no wonder Jensen picked on that. Like yeah, there's zero possibility that Dean will stay put in heaven for a month never mind for an entire eternity.

One of the worst things to come out of the spn fandom (mainly Dean Antis) was the idea that risking your life, or endangering yourself, to protect and save your loved ones is “selfish”

That is genuinely fucked up. I mean, sure, if you analyze it, there are a few selfish elements involved (humans are selfish beings) but reducing all of it to “selfishness” is so gross.

Would you call a parent covering their child in a fire selfish? Would you call jumping in front of a bullet for a family member selfish? Would you call volunteering for something dangerous so a loved one wouldn’t have to, selfish? If anything, that is selfless.

“But the only reason Dean ever saved Sam was because Dean didn’t want to live in a world without Sam, and he was going to make Sam deal with his death” Yeah, you can make that argument, but the other side of it is that Sam is someone Dean loves. Someone he cherishes. Someone he protects. Someone younger than him (because age does in fact play a role). Dean wanted Sam to have a life, to live. You don’t witness the entire life of someone without being protective of them. The idea of their life ending is painful and something no one wants to see. Dean wanted Sam to live, not just be alive. He wanted his baby brother to have a life, even at his own determent. If the only thing that comes to mind when you hear or see that is “selfishness” then from the bottom of my heart, I pity you. 

Now this isn’t to say that the codependency is a good thing, or that their relationship is healthy (because it isn’t), but the sacrificing yourself to save a loved one isn’t just part of that. It’s something many of us have. Not because we can’t function or live without them, or we can’t have individual lives, but because we want them to live on. We want them in our lives. We want them to be happy. That’s different. 

When Sam died in s2, he was 23. He was very young. Dean most likely recognized that. Recognized that his brother never really got to live. That his brother died too young. Add in all of Dean’s self worth issues, and guilt over John’s death, and we have a young man (who thinks he doesn’t deserve to live) choosimg to give his little brother a second chance at life. A chance to live free of the monsters that haunt them. A chance to go back to school and have the apple pie life he always wanted. That’s what Dean was fighting for. This isn’t to say making a demon deal, or sacrificing himself AFTER Sam was arleady dead a good thing, but it’s also very shitty to refer to it as ”selfish” and ignore everything else, when it’s a combination of things.

Is It Real?

My ship must be real because So-and-so said so!  Yea, unless it was specifically stated ON THE SCREEN and not some silly “If you stand on your head and squint just right it’s SO OBVIOUS” type of bullshit, it’s called Canon.  Canon is what is stated.  That isn’t even what is written, as scripts can go through dozens of re-writes before the final approved version makes it onto the screen.  Fanon is what you wish were so.  Canon is what IS so.

And this new trend to PAY a C or D list actor to say something for you and then call it canon is utter and complete bullshit. It drives me crazy.  Let’s break this down with a dose of reality, OK?  I’ve been doing conventions for 40 years.  There are categories of celebs and they get PAID to do conventions.  A list celebs, like Robert Downey Jr or Chris Evans in the movie categories or Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles in the TV categories are VERY EXPENSIVE.  They cost the con a shit-ton of money to bring in just for a day.  If they are only coming for one day, it’s almost always on a Saturday because that’s the busiest day for a con.  A more prosperous convention can afford more than one day but a lot cannot.  I’ve attended San Diego Comic Con many, many times and they are a very profitable con that can spend a lot of money on celebs.  Most can’t, so they resort to the B or C or D list.  If there are no A list actors at a con, it’s because the con organizer can’t afford them. The lesser known the celeb, the more in trouble that particular con organizer is in financially.

For an A list actor, con money is icing on the cake but not necessary.  For a B list actor, like Misha Collins, who doesn’t draw the massive crowds that Jared or Jensen does, it’s less about the money and more about staying in the public eye (although the money is definitely a perk).  

For a C or D list actor, cons are a valuable and vital part of their income.  They command far, far less for an appearance and will usually do the entire con.  The income is as important as the exposure.  The last con I did (just as Covid was starting to ramp up), I was tabled across from the celeb booths and Emily Swallow (Amara) was right across from me.  There were long stretches where she had no one in line.  She’d get bored and wander around.  No one bothered her.  She was there all 3 days.  Emily is a C list actor.  Sam Ferris and Chad Tyler are D list.

Being an actor is expensive.  You’ve got to pay agents and publicists and personal trainers and a variety of acting fees (SAG, etc) in addition to maintaining a lifestyle that suggests you are successful and desirable. This is in addition to the regular run-of-the mill stuff like healthcare, groceries, etc. 

Covid has seriously, seriously compromised the entire industry, especially the convention circuit.  Conventions are needed income for many actors.  It’s been shot to shit because of Covid.  So along comes Cameo or Pay-to-Hey or whatever and some pining ship fanatic PAYS an actor to SAY WORDS.  Hey, that’s what they do.  They are paid to have words come out of their mouths.  They are desperate.  Many of them are, at this point, willing to degrade themselves to make a few bucks.  It’s not sanctioned by the studio.  It’s not from an official source.  It is just them, willing to make a few bucks.  IT. IS. NOT. CANON.  So get over yourselves.

According to them, Dean getting gangbanged by an entire baseball team, is canon and is "evidence" and is a good thing, so this is how they promote to make lgbt people palatable to the mainstream audience.

How's this different than cishet men getting off on gangbang porn where a girl gets fucked by an entire football team or whatever? Most of these destiel shippers are female, they desire Dean (yes even those who claim to be queer) and they objectify the hell out of him. They don't care about the character, for them he's nothing but a hole to fuck, as witnessed by their current affinity for gangbang porn featuring Dean.

It's unbelievable to me that these people have the audacity to push their own personal porn fantasies on others in the guise of lgbt representation. They take a complex character like Dean, the same Dean Jensen put his heart and soul for fifteen years, and reduce him to nothing but a set of holes to fuck, dehumanize him to a disgusting extent. Misha's comments on Karla movie are so inappropriate and disturbing. I know it was a decade ago so things were different (as in you could say anything) but he legit says that he felt invigorated and exhilarated after doing a domestic violence scene where he brutally beats his wife up, he says he felt possessed and was leering at thirteen year old high school girls. Like imagine if Jensen (or Jared) had said that? They'd be cancelled in a minute.

As a woman who lives in a country that's very unsafe for women, his comments are legit scary to me. I've known men like this, you know the ones who can and will do you harm if they can get away with it, who are restrained not because of their inner convictions but because of fear of law/retribution. Of course you can probably give him the benefit of doubt and say he got too involved etc etc, but that leering at thriteen year olds bit raises a lot of red flags and shows what kind of man he is. I'm sure his fans will still defend him regardless of whatever he says/does but at least now I know why I never warmed up to him even before I got into the whole destiel drama.
