Long John Silver from Treasure Planet is one of my most favorite of Disney antagonists.
He's just such a charming and loveable guy, who shows a lot of care for Jim and Morph despite his obsession with Flint's treasure.
And he's also such an expressive characher as well. Glen Keane who animated Silver also animated other Disney characters like Ratigan, Ariel, The Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, and Tarzan; and it makes sense since those characters are also well known for being very animated with their facial expressions and unique body movements, not to mention how great tje blending of 2D and 3D animations with his cyborg parts.

I rewatch one of my beloved movies. I fall in love with a robot. No one is surprised at this point
happy treasure planet day to those who celebrate 𖹭
I've watched this movie how many times...
How is it only just now that I realize he's sitting there with the rope, probably practicing tying the lifeline knot over and over again? The knot that should have been able to save Mr. Arrow's life?
Visual development for Treasure Planet (2002) by Michael Spooner
treasure planet writers: parental abandonment is a wound that never truly heals. it shapes a child in a very specific, very painful way. it leaves them longing for love for the rest of their life and, even worse, it convinces them they are intrinsically unworthy of that love. they feel they must beg and bargain and work for every ounce of affection and attention they receive. many children are plunged into poverty in the wake of the abandonment, causing them to fall even further through the cracks as their life becomes about survival. some of them internalize their anger and shame to the point that they become self-destructive, shutting out their loved ones and sabotaging their own success. in short, the effect of abandonment upon a child cannot be overstated.

Imagine if when you reblog something, Tumblr had a pop up telling you that you've reblogged it before, like Pinterest does... Even worse if it had detailed information.
"Pssst! You already reblogged this post on May 13th, 2024 at 10:05 p.m., October 20th, 2023 at 1:08 p.m., January 28th, 2020 at 11:35 a.m. and February 18th, 2015 at 1:22 a.m.! :)"
