a very informational flowchart
the more things change the more they stay the same
Pretty sure Iâve said âcome out you bitch Iâll maul youâ word for word
they outlawed this move just because she was the only woman who could do it.Â
Surya Bonaly was infamous for (among other things) doing aone blade backflip in the 1998 Olympics, and is the ONLY figure skater whoâs ever pulled that off. Not just the only woman, the only figure skater PERIOD. Thereâs like all ofthree Olympic-class male skaters who did backflips in their routines, and NONE of them could do it one blade.
But wait, thereâs more.
Backflips were banned from the 1976 Olympics onward on the official justification that skating jumps are supposed to be landed on one blade, whereas backflips are landed on both blades. The unofficial justification was it was too dangerous, both to the athlete and to the rink â if you didnât land it perfectly, you could not only break your ankle, but also punch THROUGH the ice surface.
Surya Bonaly was openly contemptuous of the figure skating judges, because they were a bunch of openly racist white men who always screwed her over by giving her lower scores than she deserved. That one-blade backflip was her ultimate FUCK YOU! to the Olympics judges, because she took an âillegalâ backflip and made it legal by landing it on one blade. Pretty much DARING them to mark her down for being epic awesome and pulling a move that their precious coddled white girls didnât have the guts to even think about.
They did, of course. White racism knows no bounds. But she utterly owned them with that move.
not only did she do a fucking backflip and land, she landed then went right into a triple loop. like holy fuck
And worth noting is the fact that, lest her colossal âfuck youâ go misinterpreted, she ended her routine with her back to the judges, which is not only unheard of in the competitive skating world, but is considered extremely disrespectful to them. She just wanted to be absolutely sure they knew that she was trying to tell them she didnât give a fuck what they thought.
columbia universityâs provost just announced that the school will become a sanctuary campus and provide financial aid for undocumented students !! we need to see more of this !!
This is a great example of what a school should be enforcing if it claims that it is a sanctuary school!!
1. They will not allow ICE on their campus 2. They will not release any records of their students to ICE 3. They will continue/ begin to offer financial aid to undocumented students 4. They made a public announcement declaring that their school is a sanctuary school
If your school does not hit all four of those markers then they are not a sanctuary school and you should keep protesting!! Cal State Los Angeles is a prime example of a school that claims to be a sanctuary school to please their undocumented students but has not released any statements stating that they will protect their students from ICE by enforcing those four points above.
Make our schools safe from ICE. Undocumented students should not feel forced to stay home and not get an education out of fear that they may be apprehended and deported!
THIS IS SO AWESOME :D

donât use clichĂŠs like âitâs not you, itâs meâ âmaybe we can still be friendsâ etc but instead let them down by using famous cooking show elimination tag lines. âyouâve been choppedâ âplease pack your knives and goâ
make america again. just make it again. letâs start over completely. we had a good run but itâs time to hit the reset button and try again
some thoughts for america 2.0:
national anthem is gasolina
no founding fathers whatsoever but maybe we give dwayne the rock johnson a mountain statue or two
letâs do way, way less genocide this time. im thinking definitely like 0% of the genocide from the last time, that seems good
maybe more holidays about dogs

Sage Sohier chronicled the love of gay couples in the 1980s in her collection At Home With Themselves. Spurred by the AIDS crisis and the media representations of promiscuity and disease in the community, the project aimed to dispel stereotypes about gay love and showcase lesbian and gay couples of all ages, backgrounds and proclivities, capturing a visual that often went unseen.
âI was interested in how, as a culture, we werenât used to looking at two men touching, and was struck by the visual novelty yet total ordinariness of these same-sex relationships. The visual ambiguity of same-sex relationships also intrigued me: were these sisters or friends or lovers or a mother and daughter?â
The photographic endeavor was also prompted by Sohierâs father. The book is dedicated to him and his partner Lee.

Do this four times repeatedly and youâll be out. But how does it work? Thereâs some real brain science behind it.
Weâre trying this tonight!
Itâs about time someone got around to uncovering all the cheat codes for this âhuman beingâ software. Itâs only been out for like 10,000 years.
?????????????
Iâve used this technique for about a year, and I can safely say that it has efficiently transformed my sleeping habits from several hours of struggle to fall asleep, to passing out in a matter of minutes.
Itâs a form of Alexander Technique. Itâs a technique that was designed for actors to keep their body in ready working condition and give it the best way to perform. This is the method used to calm, and center the body. Once the body is at that point it can perform anything you want it to.
Reblogging for later reference after I tried it earlier today to try to calm down. It actually does help a lot, not just for sleep but if you have problems with anxiety.
My default mental setting is âvibrating intensely in the background.â After doing this, I felt noticeably calm and relaxed - I wasnât as fixated on my breathing, I wasnât tense, my movements werenât jerky and I didnât feel like I had to be as tense as possible to be under control. 10/10 would recommend.
