“Perhaps I should….” Vincent Whittman
I like your headcanon that Vincent was abused, especially if he grew up in the 20s-30s. Do you have any more thoughts on that??
Hope your well 🥹🩷 Honestly makes me happy your curious about my take.
Here is my head canon.
I believe it was 1950s but Im not sure.
Vincent’s childhood was actually defined by a deeply oppressive household ruled by his highly accomplished father. It would make so much sense since we see this drive in Vox. The abuse he had to endure was largely “psychological” rather than overtly violent like for example verbal degradation, impossible expectations, and constant emotional pressure.
While Vincent was spared the worst of the physical harm, much of it was inflicted upon his mother. She must have suffered silently.
Over time, the emotional and physical torment eroded her well-being, ultimately leading to her death by suicide—an event Vincent may have witnessed, or at least been forced to process far too young. Her death marked a profound turning point.
Vincent also might have inherited his heterochromia from his mother. To his father, Vincent’s eyes served as a constant reminder of his wife. And with her death, the father’s behavior toward Vincent escalated. With no one else left to absorb his anger, Vincent became the sole focus of his hostility. The abuse grew more targeted and isolating, stripping Vincent of any remaining sense of safety or belonging. Years of emotional neglect, humiliation, and unresolved grief accumulated until his psychological foundation finally fractured. This lead to his eventual descent into serial killings. Thats my take at-least. Hope this helps love.
It also makes so much sense how the one male figure who inspires him and degrades him is in-fact Alastor. His complex issues are typically around men. Like Alastor and even Angel Dust. Most of his victims were men. There is so much more to explain here but this is my overall take on his childhood.
What software do you use for your art?
I mainly use Photoshop ;) But I do recommend free softwares like Krita. That has also worked for me. Hope this helps love.
