STAFF COMMENT TRANSLATION:
Takemoto Yasuhiro (Storyboard, Director)
Q: Please tell which scene in episode 10 is the most precious to you.
A: There’s no one particular scene that is my favorite, but as a whole, I took care to portray Makoto gradually figuring out his path as he experiences and absorbs various things and happenings.
Q: Any memorable moments during production?
A: About the scene where Makoto gives Misaki-kun a massage, in the storyboard I wrote, I had his hand directly touching his skin. It felt a little weird for some reason, and I kept worrying about it myself, thinking “Can I really show this on TV…” Then during our animation meeting, the animation staff suggested the idea of using a towel and massaging on top fo it, so now I can look at that scene with more ease. I’m very grateful.
Tsunoda Yuki (Animation Director)
Q: Please tell me scenes that left an impression on you in episode 10, whether it went well/was fun/was difficult.
A: I guess the most impressive scene for me is Rin and Sousuke’s reunion. Since I believe many fans were waiting for it to happen, I took great care to draw it. I hope everyone enjoyed their affable banter and delicate heart-to-heart.
As an episode, I was glad I was able to draw so many characters.
They are all charismatic and I think it’s what makes this a good show.
Takao Kazuya (Director of Photography)
Q: Please tell me what scenes I should look out for in terms of photography in episode 10.
A: It would be the aquarium scene with Rin and Makoto, I think.
The 3D team is in charge of creating the swimming fish in the tanks, and I couldn’t help but smile when the sea turtle appeared. I thought it was some fine attention to details.
Personally, I wouldn’t want to miss the coffee shop scene with Rin and Sousuke either. Rin’s facial expressions when he heard about Sousuke’s surgery result was amazing! My eyes, too, had a highlight filter on them.
