January 24, 2025 - Queen St Location, Toronto

Atmosphere & Service: 8/10

Pretty noisy and very busy, reservations recommended. There was a cool mini arcade set up in the basement near the bathroom, which was pretty cool. Nicely decorated. Service was good, the staff was friendly, and there was music playing. Hard to have conversations bc of the noise, but that's okay. I love my friends yayyy

Food 8.5/10

Shared food with my friend, we had the pizza and rigatoni. Both were very good; the pasta had vodka sauce and was also spicy. The pizza was typical. The drinks were also good and pretty strong. Not pictured: the lychee martini, which was just fine.

Katz's Delicatessen

September 28, 2024 - Houston St Location, New York

Atmosphere & Service: 7/10

Very busy. We went there around lunch time, and there was a line up 3 blocks down. We weren't going to wait in the rain for it, so we went back in the evening, and the line-up was only inside the building. Many people were working, so we were able to order quickly, but it was hard to find a seat. The floors were covered in flour and/or bread crumbs, so it was kinda slipperly. They ran that place like the military, with the threat of a fee if you lost your order ticket.

Food ?/10

Waayy too much meat for my liking. We added cheese to try to break it up, but there was still too much. We should've gotten extra bread and made 2 seprete sandwiches out of it instead of sharing one. Kinda overhyped to be honest

Choco-Latte Cafe

June 20, 2024 - Main St Location, Bar Harbour

Atmosphere & Service: 9/10

Sooo homey and cutesy. Felt like a house renovated into a bakery; loved the mismatched furniture, plates, and cups. Very coastal and friendly environment. This is how I imagine all small-town America to be. The bathroom had the rinkest, most unsecure-looking lock I've ever seen in a public restroom.

Food 9.5/10

I don't remember what these were, and their menu only says "rotating selection of freshly-baked goods." If I recall, the brownie was fudgy and plain chocolate, no mix-ins. The first blondie was chocolate chip with I believe coconut, and the last one I think was a s'mores-esque or caramel blondie.

Tatte Bakery & Café

June 13, 2024 - Boylston St Location, Boston This place was so good, I didn't even take a picture of what we got. The only thing I remember was how good the GF brownie was, and if you didn't tell me it was GF, I wouldn't have known.

Writing this down in case I ever encounter Tatte again

Wahlburgers

June 12, 2024 - Boston location

Atmosphere & Service: 4/10

The service was good, food was just fine. We sat outside because it was a nice day and inside was a bit full, but every table was on or beside a sewer vent thing and the whole area smelled pretty bad. We went to a Red Sox game afterwards; within walking distance from Fenway

Food 6/10

Classic pub-style burger, what more can you expect? Chicken tenders were a bit soggy, but the sauce was good. I'm writing this from after my trip, so I don't really remember the quality of the food that well.

Regina Pizzeria

June 12, 2024 - Thacher St Location, Boston

Atmosphere & Service: 6/10

Suppper busy and very crammed. We managed to beat the lunch rush by like 10 minutes, so we got a small booth in the corner, but the place filled up very fast. I didn't use the washroom, but according to my dad, there was only enough room in there for 1 and a half people. Love the use of Comic Sans on their menu; these guys know ball.

Food 8/10

Pizza was good and lived up to the hype, but it was so greasy. And those classic pizza place napkins were no match for that grease. You can see the pool of oil in the center.

Fusaro's

May 11, 2024 - Spadina Ave Location, Toronto

Atmosphere & Service: 9/10

Homey atmosphere, friendly staff, family-owned. Cute and quaint. The place was busy but not crammed. We had a party of 6 and had to be split 4 and 2, but that wasn't a big deal to us. Food was delivered quickly. The place smelled good and was decorated in a very cute way; family photos hung up on the wall — some of the menu items were named after family members. We went before a Blue Jays game, within walking distance of Rogers Center.

Food 9/10

Food is fresh and tasty, authentically Italian. Amazing cheese pull on the pizza; the sauce and crust were flavoured well. Penne was al dente but cooked perfectly (in my opinion). The sauce was great, and they also sell it in jars if you want.

May or may not be biased towards this place, as it may or may not be run by family :)

North of Brooklyn 

April 23, 2024 - Avenue Road Location

Atmosphere: 9/10

Good atmosphere and a cute dining room (other locations don’t have seating). I don't know who was on aux but they were playing some bangers by Linkin Park, Green Day, Eminem AC/DC, The White Stripes, Bring Me The Horizon, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Coldplay (Viva la Vida). The place smelt like penne alla vodka sauce.  

Food 9/10

The pizza is fresh; thin crust but sturdy (gets floppy as it sits). The top was very oily but at least it had a crispy crust. The sauce on regular pizzas (ie; not the pizza with vodka sauce) tastes like the smell of making sauce in the garage.  

Killer Bee: The sweetness of the honey and the spiciness of the jalapeños paired very well together 

Pepperoni: Even distributed and lots of pepperonis; about the size of a quarter. Epic cheese pull! 

Vodka Verde: Very floppy crust, even when fresh. Comes topped with pesto drizzle but the basil taste overpowers the taste of vodka sauce taste. 

Truffle Shuffle: Strong mushroom flavour. Perfectly cooked crust topped with chives. 

Arugula Salad: Served with walnuts, Parmesan, and pickled onion. It had a tasty salad dressing and was drizzled with honey. Simple but good.

Oreo Blizzard vs. Oreo McFlurry

Blizzard: 

Colder

Bigger Oreo pieces; less pieces 

More in the cup (medium size)

When melted, it was more liquidy (to compare it to a liquid; it’s like water) 

Didn’t really smell like anything 

McFlurry:

Creamery ice cream

Smaller Oreo pieces, more pieces  

Less in the cup (large—the Dairy Queen medium had more ice cream than the McDonald’s large)

When melted, it was more viscous (to compare it to a liquid; it’s like heavy cream) 

Smelt liked Oreos 

The McDonald’s ice cream actually tastes like cream. The Dairy Queen ice cream tasted too plain; it didn’t feel like cream. They are both good, but in direct comparison, I liked the McFlurry better.

Eataly Toronto

April 5, 2024 - Sherway Gardens Location 

Atmosphere & Service 4/10

The waitress did not refill our water. The seats were way too close together, and it felt like you were in a fast-food place. There was also a change in the menu from Winter to Spring that was not disclosed to the customers (we overheard the woman next to us; the salad she wanted was changed to be a smaller size— idk how the season determines how big the salad should be— and a different dish was no longer offered at this time of year). 

Food 8/10

The pizza crust was super thin; too much sauce for the amount of crust. The pasta was al dente, which is not necessarily a bad thing, just something to note. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. The volcanic tomatoes erupted with flavour! 

Also… a waiter may or may not have sneezed into his hand, then sliced the bread to be served.
