literally NOT going to survive the first days of school.
okay well my mom made brownies so I think im gonna call it a fucking day and watch some hallmark channel.
yeah, okay!!! im just spending hours fiddling with a pre-made template and making adjustments so the font and sizing is exactly perfect!!! but it looks good!!!
it’s 7:30 and I need to stop fiddling with my work stuff, but teaching is such a good fit for people who like to make things aesthetically pleasing, and it is eating up way too much time from my life.

Daphne du Maurier, The Loving Spirit
#very interested in this idea that familial bonds can transcend time & permeate the boundaries of the self
Jay, I think you’d appreciate this:
Part of Nina Auerbach’s analysis of The Scapegoat, from Daphne du Maurier: Haunted Heiress.
confused by peter pan post could you explain
If you mean the Peter Pan/Daphne du Maurier connection, it's just that J. M. Barrie was a friend of the du Mauriers, and in fact he first created Peter Pan to entertain two of the du Maurier children. Gerald (Daphne du Maurier's father) played the double role of Captain Hook/Mr. Darling, which apparently wasn't originally written as a double role, but now it's how we know those characters, and that's because of Gerald! Which is interesting to me because both he and Daphne liked the figure of the double, and Daphne used it a lot in her stories. And in her personal diaries, she refers to Gerald sometimes as her father and sometimes (when there's an allusion to incest) as her Borgia father -- casting him in a double role in her life, both father and lover (the Borgias were infamous for rumors of incest).
