i can’t believe this needs to be said but can you people stop telling cult survivors/people stuck in cults things like “all religions are basically cults”

every time someone tells me this, it feels as if they are derailing the situation i have been forced to live in. it feels like you’re invalidating my experiences and making my issues smaller and less important than they actually are.

I think it’s genuinely so annoying how people claim that comphet for lesbians doesn’t exist. Just because YOU haven’t personally experienced it, doesn’t mean that lesbians don’t get it. Idk it feels so divisive.

When I finally came to terms with being gay, I felt like I finally had a community that I could relate to. We shared similar struggles, made jokes about it, and helped each other. Comphet was one of the struggles that I felt was mostly put at ease. That was the BIGGEST barricade between me, and being content with my identity. It constantly made me feel like I was “faking it” or that I was just messed up. Learning what it was helped me to better understand my emotions, and I felt at peace. I don’t see the point in trying to tell lesbians that they “aren’t lesbians” because they like some random fictional character.

Let people be at peace with who they are, and get the fuck off their pages, god

Adding on because a certain account is pissing me off. I’m gonna give the specific example of something I said (different blog) that made me want to say this.

Basically I made a joke saying that Matt Murdock is really making that comphet hit hard.

I feel like people forget that fictional people aren’t real. I know you’re probably thinking “we’ll no shit”, but I mean in the way that attraction to them doesn’t work in the same way for REAL people.

I can have an idea of how he is based off of his character. He is anything that I want him to be in my head. THAT is the person I have a crush on. Would I date Charlie Cox if given the chance? No. Because I don’t DATE MEN. Would I date the fictional unrealistic Matt Murdock who has all of the qualities of non-men that I would date? Maybe. Because he’s not a man, he’s a fun little figment of my imagination that is unique to ME.

If you wanna talk about celebrities, then I’ll bring up Andrew Garfield. I notice that a lot of lesbians, especially, talking about how he’s the only man they would date. Andrew Garfield shows some of his personality traits (very sweet) in interviews and people get to fill in the rest of the blanks in their head. This can be applied to every celebrity.

It’s not fair to compare attraction to someone who isn’t real, to Justin from English class. They don’t work the same. Justin is a man, and Matt Murdock can be whatever the hell you want him to be.

Also I feel like I should point out that SO MANY men were being open about having a crush on Ryan Reynolds, and the conversation was “normalize men talking about other men like this because it reduces toxic masculinity and homophobia among the friend groups” (which I agree with).

But when lesbians talk about a man it’s just “just say you’re bi!!” 😐

Why don’t people see the difference between being reasonably skeptical, and not believing a victim? That thread slapped Manatreed’s name onto a battery charge (which is obviously terrible), didn’t explain how he’s tied to the case, and then everyone on Twitter believed it. Given how shaky all of the “proof” is, all of this is INCREDIBLY insensitive to the actual victim of this case…

The information given has no connection to Mana at all. The person who made the thread could’ve taken any case in Florida, and said it was Manatreed. And the person releasing this info isn’t even the victim, it’s just a random person tweeting all of this.

And the fact that the response to the situation on Twitter is basically “doxx yourself to prove you’re innocent or you’re a shithead” is really fucked up.

And I don’t want to bring Dream into it too much, but his family was being doxxed because of this as well. He ended up deleting his private Twitter after he called people “gullible” (Which tbh, they are). Now he’s being harassed because people don’t like that he’s calling them out. Given all of the BS he’s gone through, it’s pretty reasonable that he would be pissed off at people who think he would defend an abuser. As well as being irritated that his friends keep getting wrongly accused.

The entire situation is shitty, in any case, it’s best to believe the victim, but this kinda just looks like someone wanted to pin something on him.

Update:

So mana was removed from the dsmp, and isn’t going to continue making content due to his anxiety. Dream said that he can’t really talk about/navigate this stuff because a lot of the info circling was based on his family’s doxx.

He also said that he was able to get in contact with the victim, and she just wanted to be left alone, and didn’t want to be bothered with all of her past trauma.

This entire thing has been so fucking shitty. I’ve always known that this community (mainly on Twitter) can be SOOO toxic, but this situation has crossed so many lines, it’s terrible.

I hate that a DV victims trauma was weaponized to fit a narrative created to punch down innocent people. I hate that another DV victim was made to feel that they were in the wrong.

I hate all of this, and I hate the community members who harassed innocent people, and allowed it to go this far.

I agree, I'm also on the side that we should always think about the credibility of the source of the info as well, and take everything with bucketful of salt.

It's sad because the more these hoaxes cases are given credibility, the less true victims' cases or actual victims' stories will gain traction and the gravitas they need because people will assume they're now fakes.

A lot of people on Twitter are disappointed with Dream with the way he responded but I feel like it's human to feel frustrated and pissed seeing and experiencing this kind of backlash time and time again. It would be prudent to be a little skeptical with what you read or hear.

ALSO, NEVER share your personal info/identity info to the public or online!! Do NOT DO IT. Do people not have Cybersecurity or Internet safety awareness?! Identity theft and doxxing and stalking, among other things, are real dangers.

EXACTLY. Of course, if it's true that Manatreed is this person (not if the assault happened, I 100% believe the victim was assaulted by this person) then I'll be disappointed but ofc accept it. But the victim had nothing to do with this Manatreed situation, the thread provides ZERO evidence/proof for Manatreed being this person (it said that because the crime occurred in Florida and the guy's mouth/chin looks similar to Manatreed's). There is no explanation as to specifically HOW this person is Manatreed, yet people are blindly believing it for no logical reason.

In this case, "innocent until proven guilty" is the correct approach to take here. It's not the victim making the accusations, the proof is shaky at best/non-existent at worst, and because poor Manatreed is becoming famous relatively suddenly due to his connection with Dream, shitty people are just trying to do fucked-up things because they know Twitter will blindly believe the accusations.

Granted, Dream and Manatreed haven't handled the situation as well as they should/could have, but I'm not blaming them for poor handling because the situation is ridiculous. If I were in their situation I would probably have responded the same way. Especially since Manatreed struggles with anxiety, for which just hours ago the same people who now are prepared to ruin him were sympathizing with him. Here s anxiety must be through the roof right now, for very likely no deserving reason.

If these accusations are false, which I believe they are (at least until more solid proof comes out) I hope Manatreed's life isn't ruined because of this before his streaming career(?) has even begun. My god.

You know what I’m itching for? And angsty clear-the-air reunion between c!Wilbur and c!Fundy. Gimme all the daddy issues. Tell him that he made you feel shitty. Get all the emotional baggage out. Tell Fundy that you loved him and wanted what was best for him or some shit. If the Dsmp is gonna come to a close soon, I feel like this is a slightly untapped character dynamic that was important to the lore (especially towards the beginning).

In general, since a lot of lore-related complications have been coming up recently, I think that there are some characters that have been disregarded, and almost forgotten. They aren’t really included in discourse anymore (probably due to the lack of dsmp streams), which creates some holes considering how important their characters are to the entire plot.

The dsmp is just another piece of story-telling media. The server can be used for shits and giggles of course, but in order to get proper treatment, the stories need to have a direction, a purpose, and an ending. A lot of people have been talking about this lately, but I agree that it’s probably getting close to the time where some loose ends need to be cleaned up. Maybe not cut just yet, but tidied up a bit.
