But now what he was saying, it made her cross her arms and just looking at him, it was strange she never thought about it before but now she was. “My dad told me that I have this darkness inside me because of my crazy family side of my mom and Josie is different because she has like the need to please everyone and that’s on his side, I never got if that was understanding or making an excuse…” She admitted with a small shrug. “He always try to make me feel better, we do meditation and I can’t use magic because that cause my problems so I don’t until I feel better…I don’t know why I do that, is something that triggers and I get mad and I once almost kill my dad because I was throwing everything away, I know something is wrong with me, no one needs to tell me that.”

It’ll save you the heartache,” he said, then paused. “Or whatever.” There was a dependence between them that didn’t survive through his own childhood. They were going on adulthood now and, because of the support systems around them (he figured), they had managed to do what he couldn’t. And that was to let his sister love him. “Meditation. That’s pretty funny.” But Kai wasn’t laughing. “Our minds go a million miles a minute. All meditation is going to do is frustrate you more. You need to do magic, and a lot of it. Large and small, complicated, grueling, exhausting spells -- that’s how you clear your head, Liz. You learn control that way. Not through... thinking real hard about it.” In Kai’s eyes, it wasn’t a case of being wrong.

His personality, like most of the others, had little to do with the way things went down. “See, taking him down would’ve been real nice, wouldn’t it?  Only, I had to merge first. The dilemma.” Kai used to know what it felt like to felt protective over his siblings, especially when it came to their family life. “I upset a lot of people, and they all live in this town.” The playfulness he was wearing began to fade, gray eyes boring into his brother’s -- slapping a hand on his shoulder to grab his attention. “Don’t waste your second chance on the bastard that took your life forty years ago. If can’t manage to wiggle myself out of this one, you’re leaving my ass behind, m’kay?” The heretic let out a curt laugh. “And that better be a promise.”

Well, perhaps that wasn’t entirely true -- not after twenty-thirteen. “I want what everyone wants, Jer,” he offered with an equally nonchalant shrug. “What do you want?  To protect the world from what goes bump in the night?” He smiled at that. “Maybe it’s because I know the better things in life are worth playing a little dirty for.”

♊ — Kai had offered the term fang-fucker to refer to Braeden’s fascination with them, intrigue, and ultimate desire to be more a part of that world. However, what he got was so much better. “Holy shit. Holy fucking shit, this is the greatest day of my life.” After being spoon-fed all the crap about him ending the lives of his innocent little siblings... perhaps, some more innocent than most, only to hear that one of them snuck off to bang vampires. “Dad would’ve beheaded you for that. What a trip.” Being called cool for being a vampire wasn’t the worst, either. Not many people had commented it on it. “It’s another thing to worry about. Food tastes different. I no longer can stand bagels, and I loved bagels.” Blood lust was easier to control than siphoning ever was. It was a piece of cake, but a chore nevertheless. He gave Braeden’s shoulder a pat. “I’m glad you love me, bro.. but remember: realistic expectations.” He smiled warmly. “And no problem. I’ve learned some new tricks, too -- if you’re interested.”

Jeremy had no issue with the other male - luckily for him, his hunter insticts as part of the brother hood helped him - and if he did get killed, he would drive the vampire to suicide so it was not a bad outcome either way. “Well don’t trust it, Kai, but you wil have to come to terms with the fact that not everyone has an ulterior motive. And I certainly do not need a favour from you.” he corrected.

♊ — “That was your arrow?” He had gasped, seemingly impressed. “No one wanted to give me a straight answer.” In Kai’s defense, he really didn’t see much when he was taken down at the high school. One minute he’s sauntering down the hallway with twin in hand, and the next he was getting poked and prodded with all kinds of fun stuff. “You did when Bonnie’s life was on the line,” he pointed out. “I’m not the worst person to strike a deal with and you know it. And I’m hella talented.” His teasing subsided some, and he’s cocking his head at the other. “Do you think I have an ulterior motive, Jer?” It was a simple question. “It’s okay if you do.”

Valerie shrugged after hearing his first comment. Honestly she had no problem in being about her eating habits, especially since she didn’t really use the eat, snatch, erase method as much as she used to. Once Kai mentioned the picture she returned being the only one he had of his sister an involuntary scoff sound left her mouth. “You could’ve easily found any other picture and yet, you chose that one,” she shook her head. “I don’t know, I ask myself the same question about you.”

♊ — “So... you would rather I rummaged through Ric’s private belongings?” he offered, being a blatant smart ass. “That one was on a shelf, on display, in his very public office.” The meaning behind taking that photo was cathartic, in a sense, though he figured Valerie (among others) would take it as petty and cruel. Perhaps, to everyone’s surprise, it was a little of all those things. “Because you think I’m sexy, and good eye candy is hard to find.”
