I really do need to reorganize everything on this blog better. I've wanted to do that for a long time now so maybe your request will help in motivating me to do so.
I'm not gonna leave you hanging without a means to read the comic, though, don't worry. Currently the best way to read the comic from the start to the most recent page is over on my DA as I actually have "Next/Previous" links in each page.
To read it here on tumblr, every page SHOULD have the "defnodel comic" tag, so searching that tag with "/chrono" after the URL should get you there in the meantime.

God, looking at those pages and their old art makes me want to cringe into a different dimension. sgkljsga; Some of the early pages have been redone over on DA and I've considered redoing all of chapter 1's art once chapter 3 is finished, we'll see if that happens.
I managed to do a page, but I kinda rushed it as I had a bad pain episode on Friday so I had to do all the digital lineart, coloring, and lettering in like… 3 or 4 hours.Â
Anyway, Undyne asks Alphys if she wants to be a mom. Mobile Sprout Flowey and his cohort flee in response.Â
Gotta say, after drawing nothing but Rito in my spare time for so long, anatomy has gotten way harder. I haven’t shared any of that art, but the way Rito wing-arms work has made it hard to go back to normal arms. This is what I meant in the last page’s description when I said “will she get distracted by birds.”
The comic resumes, but will Fennel be able to keep up with a regular upload schedule?! Or will she be too distracted by birds to remember to draw the next page? Tune in next Sunday evening to find out!!!
Jokes aside, it is kinda sad to me that I still struggle this much with finishing this dang chapter.Â
My goal for resuming the comic is February 4th. That's a ways away, but that also gives me time to get stuff done. With no more mandatory overtime at work, I should have more time to spare.
The only thing that could get in the way is if I just get real into my other projects, but I think sparing time to work on 1 comic page a weekend at LEAST should be doable.
I think since most of the asks in the ask box are very old, I'm just gonna nuke 'em, so if you sent something and you really want it answered, send it again and then when Feb rolls around I'll (maybe) answer those too.
It's been a long time since I've like... drawn consistently? Soooo I'm just trying to get back into art in any way I can. Even if that art boils down to "I'm drawing my take on teen Frisk and ALSO playing around with brushes I downloaded."

I guess a quick life update: Mandatory overtime ended last month, but I've not made any comic progress because of holidays and various medical/dental appointments.
I'm gonna be trying to ease back into art, though.
It's been a looooong time since I've posted here. Various factors got in the way of art in general and I figure I need to at least post a text update if nothing else.
Where have you been?
I have been mostly gaming in my free time and lurking on the internet. I didn't realize it, but I guess social media had been chipping away at my mental health without me realizing it. Namely Twitter (it's gonna stay twitter forever to me, I don't care what it's actually called now). I wanna try to get active on tumblr again, but they changed the layout in such a visually suffocating way, I can't do that site right now either.
So I just lurk.
What about your art?
Art has been hard. As I've complained about a lot in the past, I have a full time job and this job has had me on mandatory overtime for 3 years at this point. I also have chronic pain episodes that- while they have improved- still occur on occasion.
So you haven't drawn at all?
I've drawn very little UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE art recently, but I actually HAVE drawn some Zelda-centric art. I just haven't shown it because it's extremely self-indulgent and I am aware that the one canon character I draw the most is one people tend to hate. (Revali. It's Revali. He's a jerk, but I love him and I love inventing Rito characters that both admire and acknowledge his skill- but also knock him down a peg.)
The future of your Undertale/Deltarune comics?!
There should still be a future, yeah. Problem is, it's been so long since the beginning of the comic, I've kinda... gotta figure out what the heck the story even is anymore. Cause I don't really like WD Gaster being a villain? And that's sorta how we framed him to be in the comic, but I don't like that anymore.
"Fenn, Gaster made Ralsei disappear. Or SOMETHING, we still don't know what happened to Ralsei."
Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I've said from the beginning that Ralsei isn't dead, and that's still true. Also if I do change Gaster's motives, the Flowey/Ralsei thing (Flowsei?) will remain the same. So basically what I'm saying is Gaster was framed kinda like a villain in the comic, but he may shift to just a very, VERY morally grey guy, and you'll understand WHY in time.
Aaaaaaaand Vesseltale?
Vesseltale's a weird one cause it's the secondary plot comic and it's still stuck on-hold in the best possible place to be on hold. I might have to write that comic to a point where the biggest twist of the AU is revealed and then just be like: "Okay, here's some bullet points about this AU cause I don't actually think I can make this a full comic."
And then have like... highlight comic series where I just draw out major scenes. Like how Frisk interacts with the altered versions of the characters in this time.
Final thoughts?
I wish I had more time to do art. I really do. It's just difficult to set time aside to do it because of work. It's easier to pick up the Switch to decompress while listening to Let's Plays on Youtube at the moment.
Once the Holidays pass, I think I'm gonna try to carve out time on the weekends specifically for doing art. I'd love to finish Defnodel Chapter 3 before Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 release.
Also be prepared, I might start posting Rito fanart on DA because I love the Rito. You have no idea how many headcanons I've created for these dumb birds. I love them so much.

Just wanted to pop on over here to say, hello! I’m still alive. Also still busy. Main reason I came over is to say if you sent in an ask I plan to get around to it eventually. Might try to sort them once I’m able to come back for updates.Â
For the sake of my sanity, I have a lot to do these upcoming months and I can't be letting myself get burned out trying to work on 3 different projects at once, so I will be putting the comic on hold until I'm not so panicked with trying to get multiple projects done.
I am suddenly swamped in various projects. I have gotten incredibly busy all the sudden. And yet weirdly I got the page done faster than the past few pages. That said my head is empty and I have nothing to say at this time.Â
…Well I guess I’ll say one thing: Papyrus’s last line is actually a canon Asgore line, but I felt it fit Papyrus too.
I had to stop and wonder if gravity intensifying to break up a (practice) fight quickly was too rude for Papyrus (because I have 0 confidence in how I write characters and I always question the smallest things) but I had already sketched the face-plant Suzy, and I liked it too much to change. So overlook it regardless of how in or out of character it is.Â
Side note, the convention I’m going to is fast approaching so if updates get spotty again, I’m trying to finish a cosplay. Meeting up with a group and our costumes are gonna be themed so I wanna try to make it in time.

The thing was made kinda poorly so it broke faster than the other one. I might do another 2 in one update since we’re skipping a week again to make up for it, but as with last time I don’t feel great promising anything since I don’t know for sure how long it’ll take to get back in production.Â
GUYS I STILL REMEMBER HOW TO DRAW PAPYRUS, THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY. He’s the hardest to draw, at least for me.
That monster in the middle panel will only ever be important if I need a character to be an evil monster role. He’s my only monster FC/OC with a LV higher than 1 and that’s why he’s the one I’m showing writing dehumanizing propaganda.Â
Also you’d think Frisk would be a little more stoked about not being an irredeemable demon, but oh well.Â
By the way, this is probably the last time you’ll see Fennel WIndfall with an “important” speaking role, but she and Wosh may appear as BG characters in the future.
There will definitely be at least 1 page of update tonight, just finished it. There’s a panel that’s super detailed that has no business being that detailed. :P
Hey y'all. It's Fennel. I'm having a bad pain episode today and while it's not as bad now as it had been, it still is impairing my ability to draw today. I was planning to do a 2 page update for the next update and now I definitely will. I might see if I can do it later tonight- maybe an early morning Monday update. Otherwise it'll happen as soon as time allows.
