Tomorrow is the closing celebration for the artists’ residency I’ve done with Francesca Beard at Kingston Library for SPINE Festival! Together with our 100+ primary-school helpers we’ve made a 3 minute animation in just 10 days! Come down to Kingston Library at 10.30 tomorrow (Saturday 1st April) to see the World Premiere of the film and for some activities and refreshments!

Happy International Women’s Day!
Today I want to celebrate the Japanese feminist and pharmacist Misako Enoki who in 1972 started the protest group Churpiren, an abbreviation for Women's Liberation Federation for Opposing the Abortion Prohibition Law and Lifting the Pill Ban. Chupiren, also know as The Pink Panthers or The Pink Helmets, was an activist group campaigning for the legalization of the pill and access to abortion as a right in all cases, but soon expanded their agenda to include fighting against other breaches of women’s rights. The women, wearing pink helmets and armed with posters and banners, would storm the workplaces of cheating husbands, publicly expose them and demand they pay for their mistreatment of their wives. They also reportedly ran the Committee to Keep Women from Crying Themselves to Sleep which raided the workplaces of abusive husbands.
Having been both abused and cheated on by the same psychopath fuckboi ex, I've decided that “We feel sorry for them but we have no choice but to attach the men for the sake of the rights of women” will be my motto to live by this year.

I’m an artist in residence for this year’s SPINE Festival at Kingston Library together with the amazing spoken word poet Francesca Beard! We are making a poetic animated of what is special about Kingston and the library together library goers and six year 4 and 5 classes from local schools. Here are a few sketches I made during our first three sessions! Met some amazing people and can’t wait to go back to the library again this week!
