‘‘Please calm down. Do anything unexpected and I swear to Mother of All Tea I will burn your throat with hot water!’‘ Beatrice screamed at the crazy man through the door. She looked at him and the room, something to barricade that flimsy door. Too many glass parts you could punch through.
CALM DOWN - JONATHAN SNORTED and took a step away from the door, glaring at the woman. The fine hair on his neck were bristling, the awful feeling of restlessness and observation boiling inside of him what didn’t make it exactly easier to calm down. As if he just guessed the woman’s thoughts, Jonathan pulled the sleeve of his shirt over his hand and a moment later his fist punched against one of the glass parts, CAUSING THE SURFACE TO CRACK LIGHTLY. The sound was loud and accompanied by a hurt grunt. He felt a dull ache creeping through his hand but he didn’t stop until the glass finally broke under the force of a second and third hit.
He slipped his arm through the frame and searched for the key, UNLOCKING THE DOOR before he pressed the handle down and ripped it open only a split of a second later. The door fell shut behind him, his agitated eyes landing again on the other person in the room.
One day, she told herself, one day she would retire and live a normal life of a grandma. Pet her cats and feed them, live a mundane life and sigh contently at the setting sun with smoking hot tea to warm her prune, trembling, hands. Beatrice just got to the couch when the insane guy punched against the glass. ‘’Holy fucking shit.’’ She cursed as she heard the glass cry and crack under the pressure. ‘’Alright, this is so not cool.’’ Her hands went to her holster but her tranquelizer had been lost during the whole run for your life and lock the beast mission. The punching continued to rain down until the glass gave in. ‘’I’m not getting paid enough for this shit.’’ Beatrice ran quickly before the door was ripped open. If she got herself into the kitchen and found her gun back in the rubble, maybe she had a chance. Her punches and kicks were decent enough, military baby. But this guy was fucking insane. She could feel the stare burning in her back as she sprinted for her life.

Beatrice snorted, making a beautiful picture with her cheeks stuffed with wrap. She swallowed the big bite and hit her chest as she felt the piece force a way through her throat. ‘’First coffee, then I might have some whiskey to shot and cure your hangover.’’ She hopped off her table and walked over to her machine. ‘’The lights aren’t working anymore, I’m sure the power is on but for some reason it doesn’t respond.’’ She pressed a button for hot water but nothing happened. Pouting in sadness she looked at him. ‘’Who knows, maybe she needs a manly touch. -Or magical hands.’’
After seeing her almost choke, Jefferson swallowed his laugh so as to not be the next victim of untimely death. He followed her to the machine and listened to the issues. Honestly, he had no idea how to work this one out, but if he was lucky, he still had a few trinkets in his pocket that could help.
“Well, why don’t you finish up your makeshift breakfast and we’ll see what these magical hands can do?” He couldn’t quite remember if this world had magic in it or not. Just to be safe, he was careful to fish out the spare fairy dust he kept in his pocket without her seeing. Jefferson tinkered around with the machine a little for show and let the dust slip out of his hand. Pressing the same button he’d seen her press earlier, he slid a mug under the water as it came pouring out and smiled.
‘‘Alright, I trust you to be nice to my baby.’‘ Beatrice gave him a pat on the shoulder and headed back to her table to eat the rest of her wraps. Breakfast was the most important meal of the day, they said. She just liked food. Munching on her food and flushing it with fruit juice was almost as satisfying as her coffee breakfast but she missed the bitter taste. Suddenly she heard the whirring sound of her machine. The deep rumble that always filled the morning silence of her kitchen when she woke grumpy, mute and deaf to the world until she had finished her morning ritual. ‘’Oh my god! She lives!’’ Two hands went up in the air in victory. ‘’Karma is a gracious thing, helping poor hangover victims does get rewarded.’’ Beatrice smiled smugly as she instantly took an oversized big cup. ‘’Do you want one too? I have smaller sizes if they fit you better.’’

She shrugged slightly. ‘’Usually, I’m a normal cereal girl. I dubbed this day not normal when I opened my door.’’ She smiled and took a salmon wrap, propping herself up her dinner table to sit on top of it. ‘’I’ll be looking forward to it, I got a lovely vase for it.’’
‘‘I should make a bed and breakfast, I heard they are hyping right now. Lovely porch including wraps, with vegetarian options.’‘ She laughed and shook her head. ‘‘Didn’t you have enough alcohol in your system Jefferson? Although, I do make a nice sex on the beach. Then, maybe a hotel instead of a B&B.’‘
He held his hands up in defense, though he was still laughing. “Hey now, last night was not my fault.” And really it wasn’t. He’d met a pirate who claimed he could drink him under the table. Jefferson was never one to shy away from a bet, especially one that questioned his abilities.
“And to be honest, a drink might do my head some good.” He squinted a little, trying to lessen the light to ease his headache. The pounding still hadn’t gone away. “The hair of the dog, as they say…”

As Jefferson dissapeared into her bathroom, hopefully shedding the layer of dirt, sweat and possible vomit, Beatrice decided to do what she wanted to do before she pulled her curtains open and saw someone laying on her porch; eating. Breakfast wasn’t really complete without coffee but she supposed it was alright, breakfast consisted of leftover wraps anyway. She forgot to do groceries. Jefferson came out, looking a lot better as she predicted. “No worries, I expect a beautiful bouquet per compensation. I like blue, purple and pink.” She grinned and showed him the several wraps, some meat, fish or filled with veggies. “Suppose it would be evil to eat this alone in front of you.”
She was funny, he had to admit. He took one of the veggie wraps, looking at it in curiosity. “Is this breakfast for you?” he asked. “Not that I’m not grateful, of course. You’ll be receiving your ‘thank you’ bouquet within the next few days, I assure you.” He took a bite out of the wrap, surprised that he actually didn’t mind the taste.
“Your home is really lovely, by the way,” he said after swallowing a few more morsels. “The porch is surprisingly comfortable. And the complimentary breakfast is really something.” He raised an eyebrow as he looked over at her with a smile. “Add a bar and it’d be perfect.”

She closed the door behind him and padded after him on bare feet. ‘’Please put your coat over the chair and your shoes in the rack.’’ She said as they walked into her little living room. It was a simple L-shaped couch with too many pillows and a gigantic screen. ‘’Beatrice, nice to meet you. Just so you know, I mastered taekwondo and I’m a decent boxer.’’ She smiled and showed him her open kitchen. ‘’That-’’ pointing at the big professional coffee machine, ‘’is my love and life. But first, there is the bathroom, second door. Freshen up a bit before you start to tinker. She is very delicate.’’
He shrugged off his coat and placed his shoes in the rack, taking the box containing his hat and sticking it behind the sofa as well. Beatrice. It was a nice name. He followed her instructions and walked over to the bathroom, shutting the door. Looking around the small room he realized he’d been in worlds like this one before. Jefferson stripped down and stepped into the shower. It was easy to savor this moment, the hot water running over him. There were a few bruises he hadn’t seen before. After scrubbing off the dirt of the previous evenings adventures, he dried off and slipped his clothes back on. He stepped back into the main part of the house, ruffling his damp hair a little. “That was seriously needed,” he said with a grin. “So thank you.”

‘‘I will hold you to that.’‘ Bea stepped aside to invite him in her house. Some may think it was not the best idea but hell, she had done military training just for the desperate chance that someone could fix her machine. She could fight off a hungover guy, not buy a new machine half of her paycheck. ‘‘Come in then, if you play nice I might allow you access to my shower. It has wall jets.’‘
Jefferson was a little surprised she’d allowed him inside so easily. But he wouldn’t decline, by any means. His head was still pounding from the night before, still struggling to remember how he’d even managed to travel here. But he shook the thoughts away and followed her inside the house. He looked around for a moment and then glanced up at the woman. “I don’t believe I introduced myself before.” He extended a hand in her direction. “Name’s Jefferson.”

She couldn’t help but smile a little. ‘’I suppose you could buy me new flowers, that or fix my coffee machine. I think we would both benefit from the latter. Mornings without coffee are the worst and my brain doesn’t function without.’’
He let out a quiet laugh. “I do suppose I owe you flowers at the very least.” He wasn’t entirely sure what this machine was that she spoke of but he was sure he could figure it out. In his past experiences it had served him best to act as normal as possible when traveling to other worlds. “And I can try to fix your… coffee machine. Though I don’t know how much help I’ll be.”

“In my DEFENSE I only stopped listening because you were talking a lot and it was very, very boring.”
‘‘If you had actually sort of listened, you would know that no Sherlock is not here. No, I don’t have tea, Sherlock melted my kettle in his experiment. Which is why is out right now, buying me a new kettle. He’s in the IKEA, if you feel the need to follow him.’‘
“I’ve had a bit of a night and I must admit I’m not entirely sure where I ended up. Care to enlighten me?”
Beatrice pursed her lips as she looked down on the guy. ‘’If I had to say from the destroyed hortensia’s, the puke on my street and you on my garden..You ended up on my property. Madison Avenue, I trust you slept well?’’
That wasn’t the answer he’d been expecting. “Madison Avenue?” he muttered, standing up and flicking some unknown substance off of his sleeve. “Well, I don’t remember falling asleep but I do apologize for the flowers.” He cleared his throat and looked at the woman again. “Anything I can do to help fix it?”
She couldn’t help but smile a little. ‘’I suppose you could buy me new flowers, that or fix my coffee machine. I think we would both benefit from the latter. Mornings without coffee are the worst and my brain doesn’t function without.’’
‘ stay put. I’m coming to get you.’
‘‘No problem, kind of busy at the moment.’‘
