i have all the roles decided, and im currently working on some thumbnail sketches
the fool (about new beginnings and leaps of faith. "leap, but look first"): sera (her change of character into something that fits her better and makes her happier)
the magician (about manifestation and creating your reality. what you want you will get): cecile (joining with john to create the press she wants)
the high priestess (about intuition, the unconscious, femininity, mystery, secrets, and your inner voice): jane (her intuition that the authorities were after her and her family and that making a deal would protect them and the mystery and secrets surrounding her)
empress (about the traditional aspects of the mother. nurturing, feminine, etc): mama lightning (shes like. the only positive mother in the entire series)
emperor (about the traditional aspects of the father. structure, control, etc): cameron (he hates that jane loved william and doesn't want anything to do with him even at the cost of his sister. he also has a job providing a sort of "structure and control" to other's abilities)
heirophant (about traditions and conformity. also a guide): valerie (she is adamant about keeping the tradition and conformity of unordinary's awful society and serves as a guide for arlo)
the lovers (about new relationships and taking risks with new people and thus discovering an amazing result): leilah and darren (new relationship. darren took a risk to leave his nursing position for nxgen and discovered an ally in leilah and kayden and was able to thus help the lives of the kids)
the chariot (about having a direction, taking control, and willpower): blyke (blyke has a strong willpower and struggles to take control of his ability and the opposing forces surrounding him (ie john). he tries to take a direction and control when sneaking out to train but its sloppy, and thus finds something more solid with kuyo's help)
strength (about having grace and elegance while still holding your ground, and not using raw force. bravery too): kuyo (kuyo plans for his vigilante activities and acts with a grace that the supertrio does not have and even serves as a model for them. his actions as a vigilante are the result of bravery)
hermit (about isolation and self reflection): william (he lives in an area separate from john and is shown almost always alone. he self reflects to write unordinary, when john comes home for suspension and reveals some of his punishment, and when he finds out janes location)
wheel of fortune ("what comes up must come back down." about karma (good and bad) and your actions being the reason for outcomes and consequences): john (john shows himself as always being a direct result of his own actions and often takes the consequences at full force. he is an ever changing wheel in every phase from the beginning to the person hes become)
justice (about getting what is deserved, justice being served, and it is a message to take control and make your own path): unordinary/untitled (despite originally having a different meaning, it inspired many vigilantes and was so effective in exposing the injustice of the system that it was banned)
hanged man (about things "hanging around" and being at a standstill. implies a need for patience and waiting): terrence (despite his efforts, he got nowhere and had lackluster results)
death (about a shocking and sudden change that very frequently a wake up call and an end to a relationship or situation. it is a implication of a new beginning at the cost of something else being lost): rei (his death shot off the series)
temperance (about patience and finding meaning. about finding a middle road and making compromises): isen (isen is a very adaptable character and often shows himself making compromises to find a good outcome and both trying to appease others and do what he wants. he is shown to be patient when finding information and a hunter needs to be patient as well)
the devil (about obsession and an inability to see past your wants): remi (her obsession with revenge and how she is tunnel visioned and cannot see the danger shes putting her friends in or their distress)
tower (about ruin and something being shattered. it is inevitable and always due to things you cant control. "in the moment of destruction, everything is illuminated." gives a new beginning and also shines a light on the truth): ember (its an external force that causes distress in citizens and is even stirring more people to question the government due to the lack of work done to stop them)
star (about hope, faith, rejuvenation, and new starts): evie (evie creates a hope in sera during the king arc and shows rejuvenation in sera's character and a new start to combat john. she is also very rejuvenating herself and is often present for "new beginning" types of events)
moon (about being wary of the fact that many things your see may be illusion. it is emotional vulnerability and a crisis of faith. the advice it gives is to trust your intuition rather than logic): arlo (his blind faith in the authorities and his aunt and the fact that what he chooses to see are through rose tinted glasses. and he eventually has a crisis of faith and is forced to show emotional vulnerability. his intuition tells him that the punishments given are unjust, but his "logic" speaks otherwise)
sun (ultimate positivity. the most positive card in the entire arcana. brings success, achievement, improvement, and energy): safe house (a new beginning that creates a safe environment and positivity for all students at wellston and it is constantly striving to make improvement)
judgement (about assessing the past and understanding that you did the possible best you could with your resources. also signifies a spiritual awakening): claire (claire did the best she possibly could with john and has a spiritual awakening type ability. this could also be related to the vision she had of johns awakening. claire has a sound judgement on johns actions as well and takes a sound and logical approach to leave him)
the world (about completion, harmony, and closure): elaine (her arc as the royals' healer has ended and she instead finds harmony and completeness with her new friends and she gets the closure she needs when healing isen as john and arlo's request)
