As soon as we saw the new Wonder Woman movie we knew we needed to create a replica of this hat for our store. Modeled after the hat worn by Gal Gadot as Diana Prince in the new Wonder Woman movie, this hat is made from a longhair beaver fur felt to match the exact texture of the movie hat. The color of the hat is a deep navy and it is trimmed with a wide grosgrain hat band. We know how important accuracy is to cosplayers so a lot of research went into creating this replica and making sure it perfectly matches the one seen onscreen.

The famous line from Matt Smith’s Doctor back in series 6 of Doctor Who. It may have been a simple line but with a hat like Stetson little more is needed. Their hats are truly iconic to the point that most people use the term Stetson interchangeably with “cowboy hat”.
Stetson has long provided hats for movies and TV shows and when Doctor Who came to film in the US, it was fitting that they would chose a hat from one of America’s oldest hat manufacturers. The hat was given to the doctor by Craig Owens (James Corden) at the end of season 6 and was featured in the season six premiere where it was promptly shot off of his head by River Song (Alex Kingston).
While it’s screen-time may have been short lived, this hat quickly became a popular accessory among Doctor Who fans. Made from a firm wool felt with a classic western shape. The crown measures 4 1/4″ high and the brim measures 3 1/2″ wide. The hat is finished with a two-tone leather hat band and the interior of the hat is fully lined for a beautiful finish.

Custom Stetson Stratoliner
We recently had a customer who wanted the Stetson Stratoliner but with a few tweaks made to the original design. The Stratoliner typically looks like this;
With a thin 3/8″ grosgrain hat band and a 2 1/2″ brim with a bound edge. The customer wanted the hat with a wider 2″ grosgrain band to match the hat with a traditional bow rather than the bow that was on the hat and a shorter brim width. We began by removing the thin grosgrain band from the hat.
This left a few holes from where the felt had been stitched into a bit too hard. But that would all be covered up by the new band going onto the hat. The next step was cutting the brim of the hat. Using our custom brim cutting tool
The brim on the hat was cut down from 2 1/2″ to 2 1/8″, removing the grosgrain bound edge.
After the brim cutting, the edge of the brim had to be sanded down. The cut left a rough edge along the felt and the sanding helped give the raw edge of the brim a crisp finish and smooth feel for the new hat.
The last remaining step was sewing the new bow onto the hat. The new grosgrain had to be custom ordered to closely match the color of the hat. Silverbelly is a particularly difficult color to match since each company uses slightly different dye lots for them. However despite that we were able to find a grosgrain hat band which matched the color of the original almost exactly.
The final product ended up very sleek and while it may have started out as a Stratoliner, the end result was truly a unique hat!

100 Years of Hat Style!
Unblocked felt hat bodies waiting to be blocked into hats at the Bollman Hat Factory. Bollman is one of the top hat manufacturers in the world producing hats for brands including Kangol, Bailey, Betmar, as well as a number of others.
Costume designer Gigi Melton collaborated with Stetson for Marvel’s Agent Carter television show and created these two beautiful hats for Peggy Carter and Edwin Jarvis.
Peggy’s hat is the Stetson Aviatrix, made from a soft wool felt in the classic teardrop style. This hat became the iconic symbol of the show with it’s unique red color and classic shape.
The hat worn by agent Jarvis is the Stetson Metropolis in a beautiful sage color and a brown hat band. Made from a high quality fur felt and finished inside with a satin lining and leather sweatband. The same classic style that would have been worn back in the 1940s!
Laulhère has been producing high-quality berets in the same factory in Oloron-St-Marie, France since 1840. While there were once many beret makers in France, they are now the only ones remaining. The berets are expertly handcrafted from the finest Merino virgin wool in the world, making these some of the finest berets you’ll ever find.
The Stetson Stratoliner Fedora, named after the Boeing Model 307 Stratoliner airplane designed by avid hat-wearer Howard Hughes. A truly classic hat keeping with Stetson’s iconic style.
