Gunna do this about Mephistopheles because I’m sad :) Mephi dies young, around the time Mistoffelees and cats his age would’ve been born, so I’m going to answer these for when he would’ve been alive,,, obviously. He’s only a honourary Jellicle so I’m going to guess right about now I’m going to have trouble with some of these questions. (In the universe that Skimble was his mate and Skimble adopts Misto upon finding him as an abandoned kit a couple of weeks after Mephi dies)
1. Mephistopheles, Tom, around the same age as Skimbleshanks. Youngish adult when he died.
2. Charming, tactile and cheeky.
3. They have a human home.
4. Their human home is in Scotland! His human is a 17 year old orphan boy who’s part of a stationary circus. The kid is a loner and formed a super strong bond with him, and Mephi is a stickler for cuddles so he spends a lot of time hanging around his tent when he’s not down by the train station. Nobody else in the circus troupe pays him much attention but he really is that boy’s wholeass world.
5. Ah, as suspected, trouble with the questions. Mephi isn’t part of the tribe, he was simply Skimble’s mate but eventually when the tribe learn about Mephi’s death, quite a while later, they considered him an honorary jellicle. If he was to be part of the tribe I imagine he would’ve been a secondary protector? Or you know,, the circus cat...
6. His human and Skimbleshanks are his best friends. He doesn’t have much more time to spend with anyone else.
7. His favourite food is chicken, which is pretty basic, but at least he can always find it. Preferably in the palm of his human’s hands, or any of the circus troupe’s, he’s not fussy.
8. He’s in pretty good condition so no scars, and his only accessory is his black studded collar, but when he starts to get increasingly ill, he starts losing hair here and there. Sometimes his human uses him in his acts so he gets some funky collars but that’s pretty much it.
9. The boi would be a tumbler, he’s always bouncing around unconventionally, and I’m gunna say that’s dance? If not, just your classical styles. Skimble tries to teach him to tap one day, but honestly he’s a disaster.
10. No magic for Mephistopheles which is kind of amusing considering his namesake is a devil. But he’s also not at all scared of it. Hell, his mate has a little passive magic and Mephi finds it one of the most intriguing things in the world.
11. He’s scared of death, even though he knows it’s inevitable. He knows he’s ill, and he comes to accept it and act like he doesn’t mind, but he’s happy in life and he just doesn’t want to leave anything behind. It terrifies him that he’ll be forgotten immediately. He’s also terrified what will happen to his human and Skimble when he does eventually die.
12. He believes in love of every kind. For him? He’s a one Tom kinda guy, but he can understand why most of the other cats have multiple loves and mates. His type is pretty open, but upon meeting a young Skimbleshanks he realises thats *exactly* his type. How does he act in love? Like an idiot. He has exactly zero shame and it shows. He will flirt like an idiot and Skimble will roll his eyes, but neither can say it’s not working.
13. He doesn’t know anything about the heaviside layer until Skimble tells him about it, and he can’t argue in the face of a true believer. He hopes that’s where he’ll be heading, so he can be given a new life, as long as he can wait for his mate before he starts it. He wants to believe. Skimble reassures him that even cats that aren’t the jellicle choice can go there, if they’re worthy, and he’s 100% sure Mephi is worthy.
14. He LOVES to tumble and hunt, but he also loves taking part in circus acts with his human.
15. A song at the jellicle ball wouldn’t really happen considering he’d never be there,,,,, but I have a sad hc about Skimble’s song when he’s trying to become the jellicle choice that is that Skimble’s song is actually a dumb thing Mephi used to sing to him to wind him up when he met him at the railway station and Skimble used to always roll his eyes and tell him to shut up, but considering Skimble is wanting to go to the heaviside to join Mephi, he uses it for his song :(
16. If he had ever met them: Munk would remind him of Skimble, all ‘responsible’ and kind. He’d ADORE the crime twins because they’re as chaotic as he is and can basically do circus tricks. tbh,,, Mephi just loves everyone. Apart from Bustopher. He doesn’t like him. He’d also be a little bit scared of Bombalurina,, she’s just a little too perfect. Misto is his adoptive son, even tho of course he died before he was born,,, but he’s looking down and watching that apple of his eye grow into a great tom.
17. No secrets from Mephi, he’s pretty much an open book. Although I think he understates to Skimble just how ill he is, as to not upset him.
