‘This is getting off to a great start… Sergent Kill Joy doing his job once again’ Del thought to herself, bottle of whiskey in hand. ‘He never said anything about not drinking here though,’ traipsing into the living room where he-who-never-has-fun was camped out. “If you’re not going to enjoy yourself - or let me - while we’re here, I might as well get used to this …” Delphine pouted, grabbing a book from in front of Derek. Dramatically sitting on the floor in her pajamas, the agent started leafing through a detailed history of Lyons. She wasn’t sure why the Director made them partners on this case. They were the pair to keep separated at all costs. A swig from her bottle and a page turned, the brunette looked up at her captor and fake paramour. God, she really couldn’t stand him.
“You know, everyone back at the agency wouldn’t think you had such a stick up your ass if you weren’t so high and mighty.”, the woman grumbled, sipping once again. Flip. Swig. Sassy side eye. “I know this isn’t ideal, but I don’t want to be here anymore than you do. The least we can do is try to not kill each other. I need alcohol to deal with you and these weird backwoods stoners.” Standing up, Del went into their far too perfect kitchen and grabbed a shot glass.
“You don’t have to drink it, hell, you can take your scowl and your stick and tell me where to shove it. But…I’m putting this here because you actually can have fun. I don’t need to be a part of your fun. But for fuck’s sake Chadwick, loosen up the tie.” She placed it on the table next to him and made her way to the terrace.
What the fuck does she think she’s doing? Derek thought to himself as he saw Del walk into the living room of their rented house with a bottle of whisky in her hands. “We’re not here to enjoy ourselves, we have an assignment.” Derek remarked as he flipped through the old books and documents he found, with the history of Lyons, Colorado. He was reading something about the mysterious disappearances years ago … before the she-devil snatched it out of his hands. “Wow, seriously?” he rolled his eyes as she flipped through the book. As if she was reading something important. He just shook his head and grabbed another file from the stack that was on the table.
And of course, the blabber mouth just kept talking and talking. About how everyone in otthe Agency hated him. “That’s why I’m the number one agent.” How they should try not to kill each other. “I’m not a fan of empty promises.” And eventually her ramblings lead her to her dropping a shot glass next to him, telling him to loosen up and have fun, before she walked off to the terrace. Seriously, who the hell did this girl think she was? There’s a reason Derek was always the top of his class, the number one agent, because he was always on his toes. He was the best because he worked his ass off. And who the hell was she?
It’s broads like her that always got him distracted. Like hell he would let that happen. Derek picked up one of the files he was looking at, before walking over to Del, who stood on the terrace. “You’re gonna drink outside now? Classy.” He said standing next to her, before taking the shot of whisky, before making a grimacing face. “Personally, I’m a scotch guy.” He smirked before handing the file over to her. “Look at this will ya?” He said, pointing out the parts of the file. “There’s an area downtown that gets rented out every two years. And it’s the most random shit. Laundromats. Furniture Stores. A shoe repair shop. I think it’s being used by the mob. We should check it out first. Get your ass out of the house if you’re so antsy.”
She rolled her eyes before turning to him. “You’re not the number one agent, sugar.” Sipping from the bottle she nodded. “I’m drinking outside because apparently you’re not letting me drink inside either.” A perfect eyebrow raised as she watched him down the shot. “So he actually doesn’t run off batteries.” the brunette mumbled, a little impressed at his next words. “Yeah, well so am I but you can’t find Lagavulin 18 year at the liquor store around the corner..” she trailed, noticing the smirk laying on his face. Eyes trailing slowly to the papers he held in front of her she set the whiskey down.
“You think this tiny town has mob connections?” a bit of hesitance would be detected in her voice only because they were here to study strange occurances, not mob related incidents. “I just get antsy because sitting here can’t do us any good.” she slurred. “I mean, you can’t be enjoying this.”she groaned, hopping up onto the brick balcony. “Lemme seee though.” Reaching out for the paperwork he held, she scanned as he stood next to her. He was right, it was weird. Like clockwork, the place was changed from business to business every two years. Then she noticed something strange. “Hey look at this.” Pointing to the names on the records. One or two every ten years had the same last name. “It seems like something is going on. The last names match up, and even though Lyons is small, it can’t be that small.”
The small woman smirked, perking up at the thought she’d found something he didn’t, she chuckled. “If you agree to it, I’d like to go see if we can find these people. Maybe pose as potential buyers for the place?” It was probably a dumb idea, but “Or we go into town and look at stuff and then grab brunch and study this stuff at that cute diner? Like a work thing but also a daaaate~” she cackled, swigging the bottle. Leaning back a little, she gasped as she realized there was no back and almost fell over. Grabbing onto his sleeve, she pulled herself back upright. “You’re right though, we might be able to do this your way. It seems smart I guess.” she mumbled, hopping down and patting him on the head. “Imma nap, or read your boring papers until I pass out drunk. Whichever one comes first.” she giggled, sitting down on the couch as she poured him another shot.
