Can we talk about Jacqueline Wilson though, she was my favourite author (apart from JK Rowling) when I was young, I had all her books. She wrote about girls in so many different situations that you could relate to, and wasn’t afraid to write about ‘taboo’ things.

Tracy Beaker is about a girl in care.

The Illustrated Mum is about girls caring for their mum with bipolar disorder.

The Suitcase Kid is about a girl who’s parents have divorced.

The 'girls’ series was about girls trying to fit in, including one of them developing an eating disorder, and the pressures to have sex.

Several of her characters have had dyslexia, and abusive parents.

Lola Rose is about a girl running away with her mother and brother from an abusive, alcoholic father.

Vicky Angel is about a girl losing her best friend in a car accident.

Love Lessons is about a girl who falls in love with her teacher and they have an affair. I could go on and on…

On top of everything that is happening this year my semester is being held hostage by my uni admin who are using students as pawns in their fight against the profs union. I'm so done with 2020 at this point. I was struggling academically to begin with so if the profs strike I'll catch up, but I also don't want this semester to be even more disrupted.

attending a community college
