as much as i love medical school, i really missed doing nothing all day but reading long novels, plays and essays on art and philosophy and such.
also, i repotted most of my plants yesterday and they look so much happier now š±

All vintage books have two stories to tell
so i finished A Court of Wings and Ruin last night and omg i didnāt realise it was the last one!!!! i donāt know why but for some reason i thought the one coming out in 2021 was and actual book in the series, now i feel so empty and lost šš
spent my day looking at a 17th century diary, what about you?š«

I find these carrels with views over Bloomsbury completely irresistible. I had a really productive morning here looking through philosophy periodicals (and daydreaming about living in thoseĀ terraces)
16th November 2020: I have two main tasks for today - proofread the fourth chapter of my thesis and check as many citations as possible.Ā

āJane, be still; don't struggle so like a wild, frantic bird, that is rending its own plumage in its desperation." āI am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being, with an independent will; which I now exert to leave you.ā

ok so I was going to write a different caption for this but I honestly have no idea wtf Iām doing right now lol.Ā so far this quarter has been the busiest Iāve ever had- Iām taking 19 credits (the highest Iāve ever taken), started working at my first internship, doing work with some community activist organizations, planning what my life is going to look like over the next year, not to mention⦠surviving during an election year in a global pandemic). needless to say, I am very tired.Ā itās all just a lot and last week I finally burnt out.Ā
tbh it feels wrong to complain about everything Iām doing because itās all stuff that I genuinely love (other than analyzing founding father speeches for my communication of public address class) but I guess I really just have to keep reminding myself that work is work, and productivity isnāt admirable if you never take a break. you donāt have to earn the right to rest- whatās important is that you prioritize it. my life will work itself out one way or another. everything is going to be okay. sending you lots of love xxx
thereās major writing work happening today and iām pleased to report the weather is fully cooperating (can you say āblizzardā?). weāre accordingly in big cozy mode
Some late night research, itās that kind of day.
having the sun coming through the window makes studying so much more enjoyable xo
Today is the final day to enter our Penguin Bookends giveaway. (See our IG post from yesterday.)
a snippet from reorganizing my library on a cold, grey day
I read a lot of great books this month, mostly spooky romances and Murder mysteries š„ I love knowing what you guys are reading, I havenāt checked my messages for a while but Iāll go through them soon! I miss chatting books with you lot!! āŗļø
So I just finished A Court of Mist and Fury (second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses Series) and wow! This has quickly become my favourite book series just under Harry Potter (of course haha). I have never felt so emotionally invested in characters before, Iām completely in love. The writing style is gorgeous and on a basic level the story provided me with a bit of escapism I didnāt realise I needed. I ended up relating to the book and Fayre in a way I didnāt feel possible when itās a story about fairies haha but wow, this book helped me through a lot and I canāt wait to pick the third one up straight away. Please let me know your thoughts, Iād love to chat with you guys about it but please no spoilers for the third one! āØ
THE REPLIES ON THIS POST CONTAIN SPOILERS - please donāt read them if you donāt wanna be spoiled for the second book š
