The Athena situation is even worse when you take into account that she views her children as her way of blessing the men she favors. So not only are they expected to care for a child they had no say in making, Athena also probably expects them to be greatful for her blessing.

The way she got mad at Frederick when he was “ungrateful” for her blessing just goes to show it too. Don’t get me wrong, children are a blessing for many, but not everyone wants a child.

Not only that, from a mortal standpoint, babies need things to live. Food, clothes, a place to sleep, diapers etc. Athena doesn’t seem to give these men any preparation time whatsoever to actually get the things to take care of their children.

Once they have the children, how are they supposed to go out to the store to get supplies when they don’t even have a car seat for their children?

It only goes to show how Athena only sees her children as commodities to serve her purpose. Whether it is as a gift, fighting her battles, defending her honor, she often fails to pay attention to these children until they can be of use to her.

She uses them as gifts. She doesn’t give a shit what happens to them afterwards, and I think that’s the saddest part.

Like, we see gods like Poseidon and Hermes doing the same, but we also see how they genuinely care for their children. Poseidon is constantly doing his best to protect Percy, even from afar. Hermes is shown to mourn Luke after his death, even if it is too late.

Athena, however? We never see her interacting with her children unless she is disowning them for questioning her logic… and it’s just… ugh. I have so many thoughts about Athena as a godly parent.

Y’all realize that Nico and Will might be seeing two completely different Tartaruses? If Percy is right and Nico saw through the Mist of Tartarus and saw it as it truly was — the enormous body of a primordial — because he was a child of the Underworld, then that means that’s what we’ll be reading about. And Will won’t be seeing the same thing. He’ll see it as Percy and Annabeth saw it: a rocky pit with acidic air and deadly water and weird, leafless trees.
