” Huh. I guess we’re the same. I think that guy who confronted as was just a part of a recording, but I still carried on screaming myself hoarse anyway”. Nanami tore her eyes away from the sky, a smirk on her face. ” But I guess you already know that I tend to do things like that”.
Uh-huh. Nanami, ever the girl of action. Ready to initiate war with just about anybody. Don’t know if this makes her courageous or just plainly someone who’s a bit of a warfreak.
” Yup. Social Experiment…..that’s what they’re saying anyway”. The blonde crossed her arms across her chest, leaning against the vandalized walls which surrounded them. ” Whatever. I don’t believe a word of it. I suppose the reason why they brought lots of people like us here was because they’re gonna use us as guinea pigs or something whom they’ll extract powers from or something, then use it on some kind of cloning machine to make an army which could overtake the worlds or something”.
To say that she had an overactive imagination was an understatement, but she wasn’t really saying this out of jest. The fickle, ever so broad mind of scientists was something Nanami was used to. Just her luck that she had to encounter jerkasses like them again.
Nanami just twisted her wrist a few times, admiring the bangle that her brother gave her which previously turned into her di-sword. That was before those scientists took her ability away however. ” hmm…well I heard that it shifts it’s buildings about every four hours. The only thing which stays stationary there is your apartment and the streets”.
She waved a hand around, in a sort of half-hearted attempt to ease his worries. ” But don’t worry. Other than that, it’s presumably much better than sector 3 and 2 in my opinion.
Makoto chuckled at Nanami's comment.
"Haha, I guess so. But y'know, maybe it was your tendency to do those sorts of things that saved me back there."
Even as the king of demons, he hadn't changed much. All he had gained was power, an authoritative instinct, and a penchant for black capes with high collars. He was still as naive as ever; no doubt the thugs would have taken advantage of that if Nanami had not intervened.
"Well, there are a lot of people here," Makoto said. He looked around, and not a soul was in sight. "Well... There were a lot of people when I first entered the city. But it's pretty late now, so I guess everyone's gone home."
"I don't think they're lying, though... If they wanted to extract our powers, wouldn't they have done that already? Why wait, when we could find a way to fight back in that time? And besides, that scientist mentioned something about...some kind of machine that could transport matter from one world to another...whatever that means." He paused, trying to collect his thoughts. "It sounds like they've brought a lot of people over too..."
And the city was a large one, as far as he could tell; more than enough to house thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of people. It was the perfect environment for that so-called "social experiment."
He listened silently to her explanation of Sector 1.
"Oh, really? That's a relief. I thought it'd be some sort of revolving platform that threw everyone off of it..."
But Sectors 2 and 3 weren't like that? ...Perhaps Makoto would figure that out one day.
He noted how she fiddled around with the bangle as she explained. "That's a nice bracelet. Did you buy it from somewhere?"

Nanami just shook her head at Makoto’s apology, closing her eyes then doing a few stretching exercises. Staying so long out in that alleyway with her sprained leg made her feel worn out. Might as well do something to get her energy running. “…no harm done I guess. There was no ill intent behind it to begin with anyway”.
Makoto was just like her brother in a way because of that. Her brother with similar hair color to the boy right beside her had his moments of being pretty insensitive, but that’s probably because he lacked social skills and hated anything 3D in particular. That was probably where the similarities ended. Makoto was more welcoming and friendlier than her brother ever was.
The blonde looked up at the sky, releasing a sigh. Time sure flies doesn’t it? They were just running from those jerks earlier, hiding from them in that dank, dirty alleyway and now here they are; out into the open once again. But that’s not what concerned her at that moment. It was the fact that it was already about 6 PM, judging from the fact that the sky was now a plethora of orange and red.
Nanami’s palm met her forehead, and she willed herself not to scratch her head from frustration. ” You really are a carefree guy you know that?”. As if to emphasize her point, she flamboyantly swept her hair away from her face with a hand. ” I almost got myself hoarse just from yelling at that goddamned jerk to release me”.
Not that the scientist seemed to care much for her statement, but let’s leave that little tidbit aside for the moment. ” The letter O represents the room you’re staying at, while 1 represents the sector you’re gonna live in for-“
Wait. Sector 1!?
” shit”. She can’e help but frown. ” It’s that rotating merry-go-round sector”.
He followed Nanami's gaze. He hadn't realized just how much time had passed while they were hiding from the thugs. Looking up at the sky, a brilliant orange-red hue, he knew that it wouldn't be long before dark.
"You really think I'm that carefree...?" Well, maybe he was a bit impassive, but... "Maybe I was lucky. None of the scientists had to confront me or anything. All I remember is waking up in that white room. And then the guy on the T.V. said something about a social experiment that we're all taking part in?" And they thought to include Makoto in it too.
"Why us, though? There are already people living in the city, why bring in people from other places?" Other...universes, the scientist had said. But was creating a device that could transport matter between worlds really possible?
Apparently so. After all, that's why Makoto and Nanami were standing here right now, right?
He quietly listened to her explain the letters and numbering.
"Shit. It's that rotating merry-go-round sector."
That sounded a tad bit too ominous for Makoto's tastes.
"Rotating merry-go-round?"
Was the whole sector situated on top of a rotating platform? Was it some sort of disguised psychological torture chamber, where the inhabitants lived with the constant fear of being thrown off by the rotation?
And Makoto would be living here. Perhaps he was wrong, but the way he envisioned the sector gave him a bad feeling about living there.
"What do you mean by that, Nanami?" he asked, trying to mask his uneasiness.

… Arashi?
… Tsu?
Or was this another incarnation of his brother, to another incarnation of Naoya, in one of the many universes that speckled and dotted the time continuity? Most likely so. He hadn’t left with Tsu on good terms — knowing that he accidentally smited his own brother didn’t help the situation at all, neither did the disapproval of Naoya’s actions and wishes. Arashi was more likely case: his own brother was obedient, loving and almost hopelessly naive.
This boy radiated the same warmth as him. a slow burning but strong flame, that eased his heart.
A rather dangerous weakness. But… with his own hands, he could easily kill the boy, here and now. End his life like he had so many times before. With a small smile gracing his lips, he reached forward…
.. and the patted the boy gently on the head.
“Though it’s unfortunate that you’re here, under such circumstances… I missed you. It’s good to see you again, brother.”
When was the last time Naoya, or anyone for that matter, had patted him on the head? The feeling was both comforting and foreign, and the gesture wasn't unwelcome.
"I missed you too. It feels like forever since I last saw you."
"How long have you been living here? I've only been here for a few weeks..."
He apparently hadn't noticed the man's previous pensiveness; he was just too overwhelmed with the relief of seeing a familiar face, especially that of the one he trusted.
Of course, Makoto never suspected that the man who stood before him wasn't his Naoya, that this Naoya had another younger cousin, completely the same and yet totally different. His knowledge about parallel worlds and alternate dimensions was limited at best.

[Aaand he finally hit the jackpot. Being the good actor he was, feigning surprise and actually making it seem legit wasn’t a big problem at all.]
- “Oh!”
[He wanted to laugh. How easy was to get information out of this boy, he didn’t even had to ask much. It wasn’t any trouble at all - even if he still kept his guard up around this boy. A single experience was enough for him to realize that looks can - and will - betray. Especially if this boy too held the power of Abel - which he didn’t doubt. But he kept talking.]
- “Is this Naoya you are talking about a man that seems past h is twenties but has white hair, unusual red eyes [look who is talking] and a strange sense of fashion? [again, look who is talking. Also, coming from the person that usually steals Naoya’s haori for his own pleasure.] If so…
… he lives with me. If not, I guess it was pretty weird for me to describe someone entirely different to you, Makoto-chan!”
"Wh..."
Naoya was exactly as Izaya described. Makoto was almost suspicious of him, but--
"If so...he lives with me."
"He what?!"
When had this happened? Naoya was in Hive City too? But Makoto hadn't seen him at all...
And did he just call me "Makoto-chan??"
Then again, Naoya had a talent for being needlessly elusive, so it shouldn't have been too much of a surprise. Hive City was a large place after all--it was easy to miss one man among many, as unique as Naoya was.
But...if Naoya allowed Izaya to live with him, then that meant Naoya was fine with him. So that meant...Izaya could be trusted, right?
Nope. But it's what Makoto believed. He was so naive, too naive.
tangled in the spider's web ♚
[It was all too big to be a coincidence. Suddenly, all these warnings in his head made sense. Something clicked, something dangerous arose from the depths of his mind.
Tsutomu Wakahisa, wasn’t it?
But this boy held a different name, a different identity all the same. If it was the same person he met in the cursed circus, they would probably never talk. Or he would try to strange him aga—oh, he remembered that. A satisfied smile painted on his lips.]
- “Is that so? It appears to be handmade… that’s too bad, isn’t it? No need to feel offended, Makoto-kun.
…Or I can call you Macchan, if you so prefer.”
[Die. Disappear, why are you here again? But this one seemed different, he was not broken yet. Maybe it was his cue to manipulate and break the boy to his will, getting whatever he wanted from someone so fragile and bound to one person.
… Wasn’t he the same? That was pathetic. His amicable facade still visible, scarlet eyes analyzing the boy once more.]
- “Your cousin must be quite skilled.”
"...Macchan is fine, but you can call me whatever you want."
There was that look in the man's eyes again, staring at him as if he knew him from somewhere. There was something indiscernible in Izaya's gaze. Perhaps it was the way he was scrutinizing him, trying to squeeze every bit of information from his form without simply asking. For some reason, Makoto felt more exposed around the man, and it made him uneasy.
Still, he seemed friendly enough. Makoto was probably just overthinking things.
"I guess he is. He's really smart, and he's done a lot of amazing things."
Such as modifying a system so that it could summon demons and dragging Makoto and his friends into something that he would have rather stayed out of. Still, the past was done, and there was no point in griping about it.
A thought occurred to Makoto.
"Do you know him from somewhere? He's pretty famous among programmers. Maybe you've heard of him? His name is Naoya..."
✿ Makoto [moetagonist]
Sakura smiled brightly at the blue-haired boy as she nodded her head, “Hai Makoto-san and yes, you can call me that, I don’t mind!” The pinkette said, waving her hand reassuringly at him. When she had heard of her last name, Sakura couldn’t help but comment on it, “Wah! I actually have a friend with the name ‘Chouji’ except he has it as a last name—the name means butterfly, which suits you and I guess, him as well.”
The Haruno knew that they shared similar names—but that doesn’t mean she’ll mention to Makoto that Chouji was a little bit… well, out there with his weight. Makoto was quite different from the many males she had seen here in Hive City. Well, at least everyone one here was different to some extent. She was quite fascinated with his—what was it? Headphones though; it seemed very interesting from the ones she had seen.
“Macchan…” She giggled, hearing the sound of how he said that, “That’s a cute name. It sort of reminds me of my one friend that called me ‘Pinku-chan’ because of my hair.” Sakura was trying to brighten up the darkened atmosphere as they entered into the ghetto. Immediately, Sakura couldn’t help but shiver a bit. Nonetheless, she put on her best brave face and went along with it. She needed to get used to it for she was going to be living there.
“Yeah, let’s get going before it gets dark.”
“Right.” Sakura nodded again as she squinted her eyes, seeing her apartment complex nearby. A few more steps would get them to the safe spot. The kunoichi looked back at Makoto and then asked curiously, “So Makoto, where are you from? If you don’t mind me asking that is.”
"Really? Maybe we're long lost relatives, then."
Highly unlikely, but Makoto's surname was...quite unique. "I don't think my last name means "butterfly", though... I think it was something along the lines of "favoured child?" Except, I don't really know why anyone would come up with a last name like that."
But it was quite fitting, considering his relationship to his brother.
"Macchan... That's a cute name."
"You think so? I've never really thought of it that way... My friend gave that name to me when we were really young."
He couldn't help but laugh a little. Those peaceful days seemed like a lifetime ago, when he hadn't a care in the world. But things were different now. There was no point in lamenting the change.
"Oh, I'm from Tokyo. It's the capital city of Japan. How about you, Sakura?" The girl's name sounded Japanese, and yet she seemed unfamiliar to the place. "Are you from outside of Japan?"
tangled in the spider's web ♚
- “Macchan? That is a very… girly nickname, you know.”
[He could feel that somewhat his uneasiness was noticed by the younger man, and that made him act better to not get discovered. Was his eyes something similar to him, by the way he reacted when he stared at him?
If so, he could try to connect the dots. The little things that he remembered were all connected to a single man. Someone he was quite familiar with, and if he was right… this boy held some kind of relationship with Naoya. It wasn’t something an average person could conclude, but this man was no average person.
So telling him a false name was a bad idea. A really bad idea, if he held connections to Naoya. Finding him and knowing that Izaya lied could lean to distrust, and it was not something he wanted right now.]
- “You can call me Izaya. Orihara Izaya.”
[A not very common name, to say the least. The smile never faded, now enjoying the apparent naivety of the boy, closing the distance between the two of them without any regard for Makoto’s personal space. He never really cared about these things anyway.]
- “I don’t think so. I was just curious about your headphones. Where did you get them, if I may ask?”
...Girly?
He stared at Izaya indignantly. No one had ever told him anything like that before. It was a bit jarring.
"You can call me Izaya. Orihara Izaya."
"...Nice to meet you, Izaya-san." Orihara was a common-enough surname, but he had never heard of anyone with the name Izaya before.
Come to think of it, wasn't that a Biblical figure? Not that Makoto was interested, nor was he religious, despite the fact that his greatest enemy at the moment was God Himself. Still, maybe Naoya would know about. He seemed to know a lot of--
Makoto took a step back as Izaya approached, suddenly uncomfortable with how close the man was.
"...These headphones?"
"My broth--my cousin gave them to me a long time ago. I don't know where he got them..."
Of course, Makoto assumed that Izaya was merely inquiring because he was interested in acquiring his own headphones, but the true reason was much different.

[Who would’ve thought fate would be so cruel. He couldn’t remember well, but only seeing that face made him extremely irked somehow.
Every part of his body screamed danger. For him to go away, but he did not understand why. It seems like he will never completely remember everything, so for now these fade memories will do, small warning signs never stopping.
It was horrible.
It was frustrating, but instead of getting angry he just smiled. This boy was extremely familiar to him, but at the same time… he seemed different. What was his name again…? Izaya could not remember.]
- “It is not a problem.”
[Scarlet eyes glaring at blue ones, trying to squeeze more things from his faulty memory. It was not like this boy wasn’t important - he was, he knew it was - but something was preventing him to remember. Something, the same thing that made him forget about a certain man he was living with now. A sickeningly sweet smile forming on his lips, fake but at the same time extremely believable - a good false impression was something he was striving to do.]
- “…”
[“You seem familiar” seemed a wrong thing to say. “I want to get away” was the wrong thing to think. But he couldn’t help it. Something was suffocating him, a sensation that was much alike to fear. But no traces of that escaped his body, suppressing this all inside his soul.
If he even had one.]
- “Can I have your name in exchange for accepting your apology, then~?”
The man's red eyes bore into him, as if they were searching for something in his own eyes, trying to uncover every bit of his soul and expose everything to the world.
It was unnerving. Those eyes almost reminded him of Naoya.
The way he was looking at him suggested that the man was quite wary of Makoto, and it was as if his feelings of unease were contagious; Makoto began to feel edgy as well.
Then all of a sudden, the piercing look disappeared, replaced by a smile, a much more compromising countenance. Makoto relaxed slightly.
"Right... I'm Makoto Chouji. My friends call me Macchan..."
"What's your name? If you don't mind me asking..."
The way the man had looked at him--no, the way he had stared him down suggested that he knew Makoto--or at least, Makoto was familiar to him somehow, and it did much to pique the teen's curiosity.
"Do I...know you from somewhere?" he ventured. The blue-haired teen wasn't asocial per se, but he didn't associate with many kinds of people. If he had met someone, he would remember that person's face.
citta brings you a mod note.
it seems people got a little confused on things regarding meme tuesday. it was stated quite a bit ago, even on one of my accounts when someone asked, that meme tuesday was to go from midnight eastern standard time to midnight pacific standard time. i’m not sure how this might have been forgotten in terms of tuesdays since so far every tuesday has only been started on eastern midnights on tuesday.
but try to remember it from now on if you could, that’d be great!

” T-that’s right! It’s hot…y-yeah that’s what it is. I’m impressed that you got it correctly”. Nanami managed to cover up, the last part only being added to alienate the blue haired boy’s attention from the fact that the heat rising from her cheeks wasn’t from the heat. Not that she really needed to, seeing as how Makoto was pretty naive about things like these; but of course Nanami seems oblivious to this fact as well.
Nanami blinked. ” Moved out huh? That’s sorta like my situation. My brother doesn’t live under the same roof as me anymore. He lives in this garage home he calls his base”. She giggled, a bit amused from remembering her brother’s apparent childishness. ” It’s a bit weird huh? A seventeen year old having something like a secret base at this time and age….”.
Despite the apparent childishness her brother displayed, Nanami can’t help but smile. For some reason she can’t really help but smile whenever she thought of him. This must be a disease. Maybe she should go and get herself a boyfriend or something to erase this lingering feelin-
“Why would you be jealous of me, though? Did you have a bad relationship with your brother?”
” Geez. You really needed to go there huh..?”. The blonde voiced out bluntly, shifting her gaze towards Makoto with an indignant glare, though the cheeky grin on her face indicated that she was currently reeling between irritation at Makoto’s apparent obliviousness to tact and amusement at his innocence.
Nanami raised both of her arms into the sky, stretching out to her full height. ” hmm…well yeah I guess you could say that. We have a pretty complicated relationship”. At this, she turned to Makoto with a smile on her face. ” But I can’t say I hate him”.
She skipped out of the street they were hiding at, beckoning for the blue haired male to do the same. ” C’mon! We can’t stick around that alley all day. How about I show you where your apartment is, that Rima guy told you all about it right?”.
Seventeen and already out of the house? Makoto was her brother's age, perhaps even older, yet he couldn't see himself in a position like that.
Still, the relationship she described reminded him of his own relationship with Naoya, and while it wasn't as complicated (Naoya had never said anything about a secret base!), Makoto felt like he could relate to Nanami a little bit more.
Naive as he was, though, Makoto caught the indignant tone of her voice.
"Sorry... Was that a bad question to ask?"
But she had already run out into the street. Not wanting to be left behind in an unfamiliar ally, he followed her. The thugs were long gone, probably on the other side of whichever sector they were in, continuing their fruitless search for the two.
Right, he had to find his apartment... It was late, so there was no chance of getting out of the city by nightfall, and he still needed a place to stay. There had been a board outside the room he left before entering Hive City, but he hadn't paid much attention to it.
His brows furrowed as he tried to remember the details that had been beside his name. "I didn't really pay much attention... Something about O-1?" The letters and numbers meant nothing to him. "What does that mean, though? Is that a room or something?"
✿ Makoto [moetagonist]
Sakura couldn’t help but smile—seeing that he was okay with it. She really didn’t want to push him to anything he wanted to do. Also, Sakura was quite at ease when he had told her those words. To her, he didn’t seem like a bad guy because honestly, at first, she sort of thought he was intimidating—sort of like her one teammate, Sai. The pinkette then shook those thoughts away in her head; she thought it was rude to compare someone she had just met to another person.
Not only that, Sakura told herself she wouldn’t judge people like she used to, right?
Her green eyes looking back up at the dark-haired young male, she tugged a small smile on her lips. “That’s right. Two heads are better than one right?”
She clasped her hands happily behind her and beamed at him, signaling her friendly gesture and demeanor. Sakura didn’t want to make things awkward for the both of them and she could see he was kind as well, especially with wanting to assist her. Sakura made it her goal to try and at least be dependent—she knew that trying to be independent with such things can never lead to good conclusions.
“I don’t mind walking you back. Your apartment isn’t far away from here, right? I’m sure we’ll be okay,”
Sakura scratched her arm and nodded a bit, “No, it isn’t. The person I asked previously said that the apartment complex should be at the first street corner to the left. It should be far, I hope. The person said it wasn’t.” That meant, they shouldn’t have to see anything bad, right? She didn’t want to drag this young man to a compromising situation that could hurt her and of course, him. Sakura would never forgive herself.
“Well, shall we get going…? Oh!” Sakura almost forgot to introduce herself as she turned and extended her hand to him, “I’m Sakura. Haruno Sakura, its nice to meet you~!” The kunoichi, once again, gave her usual sweet and welcoming smile.
"Hmm..." Blue eyes scanned what was visible of the sector from its entrance. It certainly looked like a dreary place from the outside. There was litter everywhere, and cigarette butts as well, and...used needles? And that stain on the ground wasn't blood, was it...?
This probably wasn't a place that Makoto wanted to be caught in alone, but he had already offered to walk her back. It would be wrong to just change his mind then and there.
Maybe he could just stay in her apartment complex if it got too dark. She wouldn't mind, right? Especially if he was the one walking her back.
"Oh..."
He returned her smile with his own gentle smile and shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Sakura. Oh, it's okay if I call you that, right?" he asked, remembering his manners. After all, where he came from, most people would not be on a first-name basis with each other right off the bat. "I'm Makoto Chouji, by the way. Makoto is fine. Or even 'Macchan' if you want. It's what my friends call me."
By friends, he meant Yuzu and Atsuro, but they weren't here at the moment. Besides, it was probably better to make friendly. After all, having allies in an unfamiliar environment was for the better, in case he was in need of a hand.
He took one last look at the sector's entrance. He would need to remember how to get back to the train station quickly, in case he needed to make a run for it quickly. Trying to push the growing feeling of dread out of his mind, he looked to Sakura. "Yeah, let's get going before it gets dark."
Better to get stuck in a shady place while there was still daylight rather than stuck in a shady place in the dark of night.

” Boo…”. Nanami frowned yet this turned into a half smile at his sheepish grin. It sort of amused her how he could stay that way after her scolding. ” You sure are a carefree man you know that?”. He definitely was different, that was for sure.
Nanami immediately shook her head at his next question, folding her arms across her chest. ” I am not red! It’s just a little hot around here, that’s all”. Oh yes, there was no way you would get an honest answer from her at this kinds of situations. Even if she was getting all flustered just because of a compliment.
Nanami smiled as Makoto told her all about his cousin whom he already regarded as an older brother of sorts. From the way he said it, seems like they were pretty close.” heh…seems like you and your cousin really hit it off huh? I’m sort of jealous”.
She and her brother, in contrast- had a pretty complicated relationship. To top it all off, he wasn’t even her real brother; and she had fallen in love with him. How awkward it was….to confess that she loved her ‘supposed brother’……an artificial human who had a pretty girlfriend by the way.
The blonde shook her head away from these thoughts as she turned to look at the blue haired boy once again. ” well….this place is called Hive City, and a couple of dumbass scientists dumped us here for some kind of social experiment”.
She twirled a blonde strand, a neutral expression on her face. ” Seems like we were sent here thanks to a strange machine that transports us from where the heck we were from….and I think special abilities and the like are weakened in this place”.
Eyes closed in a downwards crescent like shape, she opened an eye as she looked over at the boy. ” Any more questions?”.
"Hive City, huh...?" And a social experiment? Well, that Rima Hoverich had said something about a social experiment, but why involve a bunch of innocents?
Well. A lot of the people here probably weren't exactly innocent, per se, but that was besides the point.
"Carefree? You think?" It wasn't a word that most people described him with, but Makoto supposed that it was accurate. He was relatively calm most of the time, rarely ever panicking, even in tight situations.
"...You feel hot? Really? It's not that warm... You don't have a fever, do you? Or maybe you're just hot from running..."
He would've reached out to touch her forehead, but he remembered that a lot of people weren't comfortable with sudden physical contact, much less with someone they had just met.
"Hmm, yeah... We were really close way back when, but ever since he moved out, we haven't been talking as much."
There was also the fact that Naoya was the reason that he had been dragged into the lockdown and war for the throne of Bel, things he would have rather stayed out of, but that was all in the past now. No point in griping about it. After all, one did not often wake up one morning and then become demon king.
He noticed the subtle bitterness on her face and couldn't help but feel curious about it.
"Why would you be jealous of me, though? Did you have a bad relationship with your brother?"

- “…”
[A month. Exactly a month when he first arrived to this place, after all the things that happened in the haunted circus - if haunted was a word that could properly fit the place where he was before. Although many people would find the thought of being locked away with strangers in a place where you could not escape something unacceptable, revolting even…
… for this man, it was something like a gift from the Gods. Once a disgusting thought, now it was something he merely ignored - it is not lke He would descend and punish the informant for all the pain he had caused, for all the lives he had destroyed up until now. Because honestly, he didn’t give a damn about Izaya, you, me, or anyone else. There is no such thing as a loving God.
Because Izaya was a God of sorts, or this is what he viewed himself to be. Although from time to time he would meddle with his beloved toys - humans - and go back to his place as an observer. But unlike the God all people know, he did not give a father’s loving look… that would be asking too much. He would be filled with joy, yes, but it would work in a different way. Suppose you had the time and means to cage all your favorite animals in a single place and watch them interact. They would be your property, your things, free to accommodate more and dispose of the ones you don’t really like. This is how things worked for the informant. And with the time he had spent in this city, it was enough to start forming a small web of information and take advantage of it. How long would it take to make everyone dance to his tune, to watch his beloved humans scream and break?
He loved them all, sure, but his greatest pleasure lied when they were in a pinch, when they had to struggle to find their reason to living… or in the worst case scenario, give up on all hope - then Izaya would be forced to give up on them too, since a broken toy isn’t as interesting as a fully functional one. The mere thought made a wicked smile form on his lips, delighted by what this place would offer to him.]
- “So, how will things unfold now?”
[He broke through the barrier of Death - or so he thought. He had literally all the time available to him to keep watching his most precious, beloved toys. Over and over again, and he wasn’t alone this time.
A loose beast, more dangerous than ever - waiting for the right time to devour everything in its path.]
Unbeknownst to Makoto, he was about to walk straight into the beast's path.
He had only been here...what, a week? Two weeks? The days were all a blur. It was almost like going to school, where days, weeks, months, years all passed by, all muddled and indistinguishable from one another. And yet, there were still so many things to discover about Hive City.
Still... He was incredibly bored this morning. He had been walking for a while, now, taking in the sights of the sector, noting how many people were caught here... So many people from many more worlds, all stuck in the same place.
It was kind of like the lockdown, in a way. The whole situation was like that. Sans the demons, of course, but demons weren't a problem for Makoto. Not anymore.
Adjusting his headphones so that they were more snug around his ears, he took out his MP3 player. Despite almost perpetually wearing the headphones, he normally didn't listen to music; he was often the target of people who wanted to converse, and being the patient listener he was, he never wanted to drown anyone out...
Then again, the people here were often less than willing to talk.
He had his head down as he shuffled through the songs, not noticing the black-clad man just ahead until he bumped into him.
"Oh...!"
He would've thought that the man's attire would be out of the ordinary, what with the fur-trimmed jacket in such nice weather, but then, Makoto had been living with someone with an even stranger sense of fashion for the first thirteen years of his life.
"Sorry about that," he said, hoping the man wasn't one with a hair-trigger temper.
this grey blob ships you with Nanami
"...Ships? What do you mean by that? Do you mean, ships as in...delivering a parcel? So you're gonna put us in a box and ship us somewhere? What??"
Naive as always.
