"Wash the plate not because it is dirty nor because you are told to wash it, but because you love the person who will use it next."
- St. Teresa of Calcutta
Saint Mary Magdalene
1st century
Feast day: July 22
Patronage: contemplative life, converts, glove makers, hairdressers, penitent sinners, sexual temptation
St. Mary Magdalen has been called the second-most important woman in the New Testament after Mary the mother of Jesus. Mary Magdalene traveled with Jesus as one of His followers. She was present at Jesus' two most important moments: the crucifixion and the resurrection. Within the four Gospels, the oldest historical record mentioning her name, she is named at least 12 times, more than most of the apostles. The Gospel references describe her as courageous, brave enough to stand by Jesus in his hours of suffering, death and beyond.

Please pray for me - today has been hell on my nerves and as the day is ending I am wanting to go get something to help me sin. I am lonely, I am angry, and thinking about this bad decision feels really relieving right now.
Please pray for me. I just…I just hate everything.
My wife keeps having miscarriages. My coworker pointed out that it’s probably my fault. I looked it up and it’s probably my fault. My in-laws’ house was struck by lightning. They lost power and water. Everyone is living with us except the one other person who cooks or cleans so now I am cooking and cleaning for 5 people while working a full time job and my car needs service and so does my wife’s. Their house is under my wife’s name so we have to file an insurance claim and we weren’t even there. They don’t have money so we’ll probably be paying for it. And I’m here complaining about providing for my family while I can’t even give my wife any living children. So I guess everyone who has ever rejected me was totally right about what I’m worth. And I really wish I were dead so that’s super cool.
O loving Pelican! O Jesus Lord! Unclean I am, but cleanse me in Thy Blood! Of which a single drop, for sinners split, can purge the entire world from all its guilt. (St. Thomas Aquinas)
Learn how to turn the sorrow of the Christian sufferer into joy through the consolation of faith. Convince him that he is not the most miserable of men, but the most fortunate; assure him that since he was chastised "in a few things, Great kindness will be shown them" (Wis 3:5). If you do this, you will be a friend to mankind, an angel of consolation, an instrument of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

I dont understand how science is perceived as the opposite of religion. Frankly, I never feel closer to God than when I am studying His creations. Learning about the brain, biology, chemistry, evolution, it makes me believe more than anything.
From the rebellion against childlike dependency on You…
Deliver me, Jesus.
I know a lot of times we can complain about priests or the Mass if it's not the way we want it to be, but I think it's really important that we all acknowledge how privileged and lucky we are to be able to go to Mass at all. There are people being killed right now for being Catholic. Many of us get to go to Mass (daily Mass in many cases!) in relative peace without much concern of our safety. It's okay to prefer one form of Mass to the other, or to have qualms with the way a priest does something during the Mass, but I think we all need to take a step back sometimes and see how lucky we really are.
Meeting with a potential spiritual director tomorrow. Please pray it goes well and/or I get pointed in the right direction
Y'know what, pray for things of all shapes, sizes, and significance. You don't have to only pray for virtue. You don't have to only pray for big-ticket items. Don't limit your prayer. Pray for the small things. The things that seem silly but that matter to you, even if only a little.
Don't limit God, either. Pray for things that the world would claim are impossible, and let God work. Accept God's will in all things, but don't give up hope before you've even asked Him.
Guys, please pray for me to figure out what God is calling me to do with my future.
