Something that breaks my heart about Nesta and how she was written in acosf is that she knows she’s making a choice that she knows isn’t good for her. And I’m talking about everything not just the drinking but choosing to stay away from her family, actively choosing to make them hate her. Just such an honest reaction that’s not often depicted from the woman gaze. The internal anger and disappointment at oneself yet still being unable to stop choosing to do it again and again. And that’s why I will always hold a sense of resentment for this series and it’s author. Because why introduce something so beautiful and real like Nesta to me and then have those that loved and cared for her treat her as they did and not just that but have her character react to the abuse as she did.
