ELI5 how to reposition some Costumes. For example, I would love to use your Lightning's SOLDIER Outfit at the same time as her Squall's Outfit, but for some reason I can't understand you decided to put both in the exact same slot :/ .. I would love to, for example, have the SOLDIER Outfit in the DLC3 Slot and Squall's in DLC4.
Well, that is due to when Custom DLC was becoming available, there wasn’t that many modders who dealt with it at the time. So originally, the costumes I released were on different slots. However, issues began cropping up. You see, some other modder’s DLC would conflict with ones I made, and they would complain to me about, telling me to change the slots, thus irritating me.Â
After that, I stopped releasing DLC altogether and only released the GMO/GIM files. But inevitably, people complained once again, telling me to make the DLC because they could not do it. So I decided the fairest way to handle the situation was to release my mods on one DLC slot (DLC8). Since you can only use one costume at a time, I didn’t think it would be a problem, and this would mean a far smaller amount of people would complain about conflicting slots. This would also mean I could use other modder’s DLC, without worrying too much about conflicts.
I trust this explains my reasons for it. However there is one more part.
Since there are so many more mods now, I beginning to care less about it, in fact I’m going to make a brand new pack (one for each character), where I will address this. However, since I am aware that some people would prefer certain costumes over certain slots, I’ll be making the costumes compatible for every slot. Due to this, it will take some time to complete this. Oh, and one more note, it someone uses the same slot number (not DLC# but like Slot 158 or something like that), then I will not be able to deal with that as easily. I’ll probably start from Slot 100 and DLC2 for Lightning (she can get up to DLC9), so that will take 18 slots (100-118).
Of course this is assuming each costume gets one. But I have a alternative, I could instead give 4-5 costume slots for each character (going to DLC5, 100-108/110). And the costumes would be compatible for each slot. so you could have: DLC2 Soldier, DLC3 Sleeping lion, DLC4 Type-0, DLC5 Master Lightning. Or something like that. I make this suggestion, because not every character has 9+ costumes like I made for Lightning.
Feel free to leave your opinion on the matter, I’ll consider when making my decision. Sorry for the long response, but I hope this helps a bit. I’m leaning towards the second idea more, but if you have anything else to add/ask feel free. :)
