So how’s everything going, Shep?
The one constant of life.
Things are good. Meredith's about ready to pop.
Don’t get me wrong, the big boobs are pretty high up there.
Aha, knew you were in there somewhere!
This might surprise you, but the face. I’ve been working with James for a while. He’s a cool kid.
Consider me...proud of you Mark. You're growing up.
Growing skin for babies, helping a kid fix his face, and giving a woman really big boobs. I’m doing all these things today. Whoever says Plastics isn’t a good specialty is an idiot.
Which one are you most looking forward to?
He's Kicking / Derek & Meredith
"Easy for you to say. You don’t have a stomach the size of a watermelon, and a uterus that’s being kicked in repeatedly." She couldn’t help but smile a little at Derek’s words to their son, and she began to relax slightly as the movement inside of her calmed even more. "He’s stopped," she said with a sigh of relief. "Finally. Thank you." She picked up half of her sandwich and held it out to her husband. "Here. I bet you haven’t eaten yet with all of that paperwork."
"I for one am very glad I don't have a uterus." Derek grinned across at Meredith, raising an eyebrow at her. He smiled and nodded leaning back as she mentioned he'd stopped. "Not long now, he'll be with us soon." Derek murmured. He took the sandwich from her and nodded. "Ever since Nel...Jim died, it's been so busy. He was doing so much of my work for me."
He's Kicking / Derek & Meredith
"He can’t understand what I’m saying," she huffed, "and I wouldn’t mind him kicking but not when I’m at work." Meredith shifted as Derek placed his hand on her stomach, looking down with a slight grimace. "keep talking, it’s working…"
"He can probably understand the tone of voice. And moaning at him probably isn't appreciated." Derek teased gently, giving Meredith a small grin. He looked back down at her stomach and spoke to her belly once more. "I know you're getting big and strong in there but I cannot wait to meet you. I'm your Daddy and you have a big sister, Zola. And a dog called Dog. Quite unoriginally."
Wow, when was the last time you spend a day at home? But no it’s not, daytime tv is awful.
It's been years Nina. I can get you some dvds if you'd rather?
You’re a brain surgeon, no wonder you’re not bored. Try being a patient for a couple of months and then see how easily you get bored.
Is daytime tv not okay?
Is it just me or is this place even more boring than usual? I miss Hannah she’d always come up with some way to liven the hospital up when it got like this.
Boring? I think not. But quiet, maybe.
I've not seen an OR in a week now.
I’m good. I am. I haven’t cut in a while though, something about still being a suspect. At least they granted me bail, right?
Well as soon as you aren't a suspect, I can use you in my department.
He's Kicking / Derek & Meredith
With a sandwich half eaten and a large strawberry milkshake, Meredith had sat waiting for Derek. As he entered, she reciprocated his smile and turned to him. “Mhm, he’s going for some kind of record.” She appreciated Derek coming to her rescue, seeing as he had a mountain of paperwork, but she was at her wits end. “My voice makes him worse,” she complained with a grimace. “Your father’s here, so you can quit - OW!”
Derek moved his chair so he could sit beside Meredith, and gave her a look, sighing. "It's because you're moaning about him." He replied. "He doesn't appreciate you complaining 24/7 about him kicking at you. He's trying to grow and become strong. It's a good thing Meredith." Derek grinned, before reaching out and putting a hand on her stomach. "Hey Sebastian, your Mom would love if you'd stop kicking right now."
He's Kicking / Derek & Meredith
Grumbling to himself about the sheer amount of paperwork he was having to do, what with Nelson gone, and still a real lack of neurosurgeons in the department, Derek was beginning to feel as he had when he had been chief. Too much paperwork, and too little time in surgery. It wasn't a good combination. Derek smiled as he saw Meredith sitting in the cafeteria, and he slid into a chair beside her. "Is he still kicking?"
Texts: MerDer
Meredith: I don't expect you to drop every single thing. Just your paperwork. Please? He's been kicking non stop all morning and I have a surgery in twenty minutes.
Derek: Lucky for some. Fine, I'll be there - where are you?
I've not seen an OR in a week now.
Well, at least you actually get to work.
How are you feeling Scarlett?
I've not seen an OR in a week now.
This paperwork is getting to be ridiculous
Texts: MerDer
Meredith: He won't stop kicking. Come talk to him.
Derek: Meredith, you can't expect me to drop every single thing, every time he kicks.
I need a resident or an intern.
You would perform an anterior-posterior spinal fusion, right Dr. Shepherd?
Right Brooks. OR 2 10am, don't be late.
