Maddie couldn’t help but giggle when Derek took her phone and hung up for her, excitement bubbling up inside her when he said he had a surprise, stopping herself from jumping up and down in public. “Show me, show me, show me!”

The boy laughed as he watched the girl’s reaction, pulling out a box from his pocket and passing it over to the girl. He knew that she’d been feeling a bit left out recently, so he’d decided to go buy her a necklace, in hopes that she might find comfort in the gift. “Well go on, open it then.”

Derek’s face softened as he realised it was Maddie standing at his doorway. “Of course.” He opened his door wider so she could walk into his room.

Derek spotted Thomas down the corridor, noticing the person he was talking to. “You heard the boy, get lost and stop being such an inconvenience,” he smirked, turning back to the other. “I just saved you five minute of debate, thank me.”

Derek grabbed the phone out of the girl’s hand and put it to his ear. “Miss Chase has become suddenly unavailable, please try again in a few working days.” The boy cut off the call placing the phone into the girl’s hand. “I have a surprise.”

“Hmmmm… I don’t recall.” She tilted her head sideways, furrowing her eyebrows trying to remember but she came up with nothing except that she’d only done it to spite him, but she didn’t remember if she liked it or not. “You think I look perfect?” Her smile widened, pleased to hear that. “I just feel like I need some excitement. I’ve hooked up with all the hot guys here and since not everyone came to England with us, I have more free time and less male attention that I’m used to.”

“Well I recall,” he stated, crossing his arms over as he watched her. “I always think you look perfect,” he shrugged. “No surprise there.” Even though Derek was with Thomas now, it didn’t mean he wanted to hear about Maddie’s encounter’s, his feelings for her would never go away. “Can you not talk about this with Heidi?”

“Sure. I’ll help you out. Give one of them to me. But why doesn’t she just carry her stuff herself?” Sage rolled her eyes, extending her hands for him to hand her a bag. She never understood Maddie and preferred to spend as little time as possible with her. It’s not like she could bring anything meaningful to a conversation.

“Because she’s lazy. I should be getting paid for this,” he sighed, passing the bag to the girl. He was grateful for the help, after all Maddie just seemed to be able to get him to do things he didn’t particularly want to do.

“Oh, not really. I was just trying to get some peace and quiet, I wasn’t working or anything,” he laughed. “Do you need the room?”

“I specifically remember you saying that you didn’t like it, in fact I’m pretty sure it was all you talked about for a while after you got it done- Maddie, you look perfect, I don’t know why you’re trying to change.”
