Welcome to my Archive! You may know me best as @sableshroomtheartist, I usually write fanfiction and draw fanart, but I have come to realize that there is a LOT of information and great references out there on the internet that is not easily accessible. I'd like to gather it all together here for, so that everyone can appreciate and view it with me!
The majority of these archived works will be from auction sites. If you'd like to see more content, I highly recommend going to Internet Archive, they have a large collection of magazines, and you can find promotional material regarding the original release there.
If you have any rare, unseen, or otherwise unavailable online Dark Crystal content, feel free to send it my way! I also welcome any information you have regarding the whereabouts of auctioned set pieces!
Any paperwork or other behind-the-scenes items I acquire are uploaded on Internet Archive, you can find them here.

Thrushpog Hand-Controlled Puppet - Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction on Julien's Auctions, sold for $2,240 - Lot 112
"A hand-controlled, background Thrushpog puppet as seen in the third episode of the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019), entitled, "What Was Sundered and Undone."
Built in England by the Animatronic and Creature Department for the series, this fully hand-controlled puppet is housed in a silicone outer shell with resin inner shell. The body of the puppet itself is a lower body vacuform plastic shell, while its upper body and neck are rubber latex, the entirety of which is covered in green-dyed textured fabric. Its head is silicone. The base of the puppet contains a metal rod with a FasTrax H1.5 handle, which controls the neck and body of the puppet, allowing it to look back and forth, as well as pull into and push out of its shell. This puppeteering component is still operational.
Built into the interior of the body shell is a series of LED lights that go all the way up the neck of the puppet. In the episode, these lights illuminated after Deet (performed by Beccy Henderson and voiced by Nathalie Emmanuel) feeds the Thrushpog some Glow Moss, causing the inside of the Thrushpog (and all the other Thrushpogs around) to light up.
This puppet comes mounted on a stand custom-built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, featuring an identifying emblem.
"Sweet-Faced" Podling Full-Body Puppet with Operational Blinking Eyes - Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction on Julien's Auctions, sold for $5,760 - Lot 111
"The full-body puppet for the "Sweet-Faced" Podling that is seen primarily in the third episode of the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019), entitled, "What Was Sundered and Undone." When Brea (performed by Alice Dinnean and voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy) is banished to be a part of the Order of Lesser Service, her first task is bathing unruly Podlings who hate to be cleaned. Brea comes across this "Sweet-Faced" Podling biting her own toenails before turning away in disgust. This "Sweet-Faced" Podling can also been seen as one of the patrons at the Podling Hut in the next episode, "The First Thing I Remember is Fire."
This puppet contains an attached, operational pump with a round metal plunger that triggers both of the puppet's eyes to blink.
The puppet's head is made of sculpted and hand-painted foam latex, with wig hair. Its hands are also foam latex, with interior three-fingered armatured foam pod with arm rod pockets, and press-on nails on the exterior top of each finger. Its costume is comprised of a jacquard cotton-linen dress featuring top-stitching and appliqué denim and cotton patches, a layered jacket featuring braided sheep's wool woven with embroidery thread, wool bouclé shoes with wool crepe piping, and a knit hat.
Built inside of the puppet's head is a metal plate with two screws backed with magnets and affixed to the glass taxidermy eyes to allow the puppeteer to control the puppet's eyes. This metal plate also served as a resting place for the puppeteer's hand. A protective covering of either leather or another material was also built into the inner mouthpiece so the puppeteer's hand wouldn't sweat through. The body of the puppet is an articulated pod with foam arms with inner wooden dowels to create bone structures. The arms of the puppets were created to be foam latex up to the elbow and then have the ability to be Velcro'd on and off for easy replacement, as damage was a regular occurrence because of prop usage or rod replacement.
This puppet comes posed and mounted on a stand custom-built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, featuring an identifying emblem.
Generic Stonewood #5 Gelfling Full Puppet - Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction on Julien's Auctions, sold for $10,240 - Lot 110
"A Stonewood Gelfling puppet from the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019). This is a background puppet seen in multiple scenes and episodes throughout the series. Notably, this is one of the Stonewood Clan Gelflings that is seen taken control of by the Arathim Threaders at the end of the seventh episode, "Time to Make... My Move," and then strapped in front of the Crystal of Truth and has its Essence taken out in the eighth episode, "Prophets Don't Know Everything." Puppet sculpted by Toby Froud.
The puppet's head is made of sculpted and hand-painted foam latex with wig hair punched into it. Its costume is an iridescent silk tunic with serrated edges, a quilted wool mantle backed with cotton, painted suede hat, leather belt with individual rolls of leather spooled together, gauntlets that are painted and quilted wool, jersey-style leggings, and leather wrapped shoes. The tassels that hang from the arms of the garment are lovingly referred to internally as "Froud Shrouds," in reference to The Dark Crystal's original designer, Brian Froud, and fabricator, Wendy Froud. During the filming of the original film, the Frouds added tassels to hang from the sleeves of the Gelfling puppets to help hide the puppeteering rods for the arms. Despite having the technology in place to digitally remove rods for the prequel series, the Frouds insisted that the tassels remain on the arms of the Gelflings because the style had already been established. This puppet does not contain hands and has animatronic ears.

"An original puppet for Tolyn (voiced by Jack Myers), one of the primary Gelfling Guards at The Castle of the Crystal in the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019). Puppet sculpted by Toby Froud.
Tolyn is a member of the Spriton clan and had unwavering loyalty to the Skeksis leaders of which he served. Throughout the series, Tolyn never strays from his dedication even when he is confronted with claims about the Skeksis' wicked ways, especially towards the Gelflings. Ultimately, despite informing the Skeksis about an planned mutiny by the Castle Guards, Tolyn is taken by skekTek The Scientist and drained of his essence by the Crystal of Truth.
The puppet's head is made of sculpted and hand-painted foam latex with black wig hair punched into it. Its costume is comprised of a lightweight, wool-blend cloak lined with silk fabric and dip-dyed to create a gradient coloring, and linen sleeves underneath the arm gauntlets. Its helmet, shoulder pads, and gauntlets are made of leather. The tassels that hang from the arms of the cloak are lovingly referred to internally as "Froud Shrouds," in reference to The Dark Crystal's original designer, Brian Froud, and fabricator, Wendy Froud. Naia - Drenchen Gelfling Full-Body Puppet - Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction on Julien's Auctions, sold for $16,000 - Lot 108
"A full-body puppet of Naia (performed by Beccy Henderson and voiced by Hannah John-Kamen), a Gelfling of the Drenchen Clan, who serves as a major supporting character in the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019). Puppet sculpted by Matt Rose.
Naia enters the story after her twin brother, Gurjin, disappears. Unbeknownst to her, Gurjin allowed himself to be captured by the Skeksis in order for Rian to escape The Castle of the Crystal. When Naia finally tracks down Rian, she intends to kidnap him and exchange him to the Skeksis for Gurjin. Rian convinces Naia to dreamfast with him in order to show her what happened to Gurjin, which she reluctantly agrees to before ultimately believing him after she sees it for herself. Naia is able then to free Gurjin from The Castle of the Crystal, and they both dreamfast with Rian again. Only this time, they are all transported to the Dream Space by Aughra, along with other characters such as Brea and Deet. It is here that Aughra tasks them all with saving their dying world by fighting back against the Skeksis. Afterwards, Naia and Gurjin take it upon themselves to inform the other Gelfling clans of the need for fight and resistance. When Rian and company need reinforcements for the final showdown between the Skeksis in the Second Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood, all of the other clans appear to fight beside them, including Naia with other members of the Drenchen Clan.
This a full-body version of the Naia puppet, which includes her entire torso as well as a pair of legs. Like all Gelflings in the Drenchen clan, Naia features blue and green skin tones, identifiable bumps on her forehead, and fin-like scalloped ears. She is dressed in a wool hooded cloak with a painted Drenchen clan emblem on the back, which she is seen in her first appearance in the fourth episode of the series, “The First Thing I Remember is Fire.”
The puppet's head is made of sculpted and hand-painted foam latex with donated human hair punched into it. Its elaborate costume is comprised of a silk-blend, two-layered tunic with surface embroidery, metallic threading, beading, trim detail underneath, and belted with leather. The layers of the tunic are inner-padded for shaping. Its legs are covered in Jersey-style leggings and cotton socks that are painted. Built inside of the puppet's head is a metal plate with two screws backed with magnets and affixed to the glass taxidermy eyes. Naia's face was fully animatronic and controlled via remote control. The body of the puppet is an articulated pod with foam arms and legs with inner wooden dowels to create bone structures. The arms of the puppets were created to be foam latex up to the elbow and then have the ability to be Velcro'd on and off for easy replacement, as damage was a regular occurrence because of prop usage or rod replacement.

This large, hand-crafted sword prop is comprised of resin and fiberglass. It features a hilt and handle painted in gold-tone and silver-tone with ornate, carved detailing throughout and a gold-tone, iridescent rope accented around the handle. SkekGra the Heretic - Skeksis Animatronic Head - Jim Henson Company 70th Anniversary Auction on Julien's Auctions, sold for $12,800 - Lot 99
“An original animatronic puppet head for the banished and absent-minded Skeksis, skekGra the Heretic (performed by Damian Farrell and voiced by Andy Samberg), from the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019). Head sculpted by Miles Teves.
Two types of heads were created for each of the Skeksis puppets in the series – a hand puppet and an animatronic puppet. The animatronic heads were used during full-body shots of the Skeksis puppets, where the puppeteers inside would have to puppeteer both hands of the Skeksis, leaving the head to be puppeteered via remote control. In close up shots, the Skeksis heads would be hand puppets for puppeteers.
This head is comprised of carved and hand-painted foam latex with cast resin teeth, foam latex tongue, and resin "nail" protruding from the top of the head with a carved mystical insignia at the top. Each strand of hair on the head was hand-punched by fabricators from Jim Henson's Creature Shop. A strand of thick lace is present at The Chamberlain's neck. Below the neck is the animatronics system - a collection of electrical wiring and servos that controlled the head via remote control. At the base of the animatronics is a metal bar with two open latches, which would lock into place with the circular metal collar around the neck of the Skeksis' puppet body.
The Heretic is one of the Skeksis characters created originally for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. He plays an important role in the series as he reveals the secret history of Thra and the Crystal of Truth to the show's heroes. The Heretic resides at the Circle of the Suns along with his urRu counterpart, urGoh (performed by Olly Taylor and voiced by Bill Hader). The two of them forged the Dual Glaive with the Crystal Shard and created the rock creature, Lore, after consuming a large amount of hallucinogenic urdrupe berries. skekGra and urRu were said to have been inspired by the main characters in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
This head comes mounted on a stand custom-built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, featuring an identifying emblem.

Have you ever seen Jim Henson and Frank Oz's appearance on the Russell Harty Show to promote The Dark Crystal?
At the 20 minute mark, UrAmaj, The Cook, visits the set and Russell asks some rather pressing questions, such as "How do mystics go to sleep?" and states very astutely, "He's got slightly a tearful look."
But UrAmaj isn't the only one Russell gets to meet! SkekEkt and SkekShod make an appearance too, when Russell gets to sit at their table, and gawk at their strange choices of food.

"The chair sat in by skekVar the General (performed by Kevin Clash and voiced by Benedict Wong) in the Skeksis Banquet Hall in the prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix, 2019).
The chair is comprised of carved rigid foam with a cast resin outer coating that features hand-painted detailing. The half-circular base most likely contains an internal metal armature to help maintain its balance. The chair is designed in the instantly recognizable Skeksis style known as "Garthic," which was created by skekEkt the Ornamentalist and features characteristics such as "emerging skeleton imagery" that make it so distinguishable. It contains ornate detailing throughout including carved patterns on the base and arms, winged blade protrusions as a headboard, and a pointed bone-shape extension at the top. Located in the center of the headboard is a bulb with three resin crystals - one clear, one green, one blue.

Other specific wear includes noticeable cracking near the top of the arms of the chair just as it begins to turn into the headboard, and the bone-shape extension at the top has been separated from the piece revealing a metal screw within the point that loosely secures in its place in the headboard.
The Skeksis are seen indulging in gluttonous feasts in the Banquet Hall in episode four, "The First Thing I Remember is Fire," and episode six, "By Gelfling Hand..."
