I found this one time...
This is my final for the class, I had a great time experimenting with different aspects of art media. For this project I was primarily trying to match the beat of the bass with gun shots from various video games. Virtual Violence is popular.

Video Response - The Artist is Present
Intense, very intense. Who would have thought that a silent gaze with another person could be so emotional? I think that it took great courage to do this for just one day, let alone three months. It really brought my fears to the foreground, and I realized that the things that make me uncomfortable don’t even compare to these situations that she has put herself through.
I enjoyed the idea of having to walk through two naked individuals just to enter the exhibit. It’s a great way to make the audience interact with the art, which I’m sure was very awkward. If that piece was at the very beginning of the entrance to the entire showing would have been awesome, it would really set the tone for the rest of the performances.
This video created a more solid idea of what performance art is, and how it can be manipulated. I like the idea of how spontaneous this showing was, and how it brought the audience directly into the piece. The artist is able to feel the audience, just as the audience can feel the artist. I don’t know if I actually have the brass to do this sort of thing on the regular, but it was an enjoyable movie.

Response to ROSELEE GOLDBERG Performance: A Hidden History
This was an interesting short read on performance art, I was not aware of any of this prior to this reading. I didn’t realize how influential performance art has been in history, while also be so attractive. Its too bad that it took the community too long to establish this as its own medium, but with good research I’m sure historians will be able to pull up old facts.
I often forget as to how important art is within our society, and now I’m excited to plan around this new medium and form of expression. I believe that we can create a memorable experience in 1 minute of performance art.
Project 4: Vanishing and Becoming
Nicely done!
Vanishing reflection
This was a very cool assignment, and although it took a while to decide on what I wanted it to look like I'm very pleased with the result. The hardest aspect for me was trying to match specific points of video with the beat of the music. I was able to achieve this in one clip, but not another one that I had in mind.

Project #4 Vanishing and Becoming. Normalcy comes in and out of this video, establishing what was needed for this project. Really happy how this turned out.
I really like the use of colors in this one. It holds your interest to the very end.
I have uploaded my “music video” just incase there are challenges viewing them in class…Thanks ;-)

Exercise #4
I decided to change it up, and mix some classic country music with some awesome skateboard tricks
Reading Response #6
Time and motion is a relatively easy concept to understand traditionally, but when you put it through the spectrum of art like the text books says, then you get a whole new concept to adapt art work to. The idea that stood out the most was the artist who played her violin on the streets while standing in skates frozen in a block of ice. The idea of stopping the music once the skates were melted free is an awesome control for how long to play. It adds a little anticipation as to how long the performance will go on. It might distract the audience from the actual music, but I love how it changes the whole scope of the performance. As an amateur photographer I enjoyed the section on how artist were adding motion to pictures, and I’ve found this to be fun with my own pictures. I like the idea of adding the motion to specific aspects of a picture, by doing this the artist is able to create a new perception for the audience. I will definitely be using this concepts in my own work. The second reading dealing with projecting was a difficult concept to understand, but I think I’m catching on. I find it hard to believe that the first form of art was projection, but the story the article tells makes it seem so. I connected with the idea of how projections can be mistaken for reality; in a logic course that I took several years ago we talked about this simile from Plato. It’s a very powerful story, and it allows the audience to grasp the idea that reality is relative and it can easily be mistaken for something else.
