Is Walter still killed when the loop gets invaded?

yes! that’s such a staple to their story for me that i can’t imagine changing it

when their loop gets invaded, miss hummingbird attempts to hide the children in the cellar and try and deal with the wights on her own. walter is incredibly paranoid, and it doesn’t take him very long to decide that he can’t just keep hiding while his “mother” is in danger. him leaving triggers the other children to argue back and forth before they all also end up coming out of hiding. unbeknownst to walter, fritz has followed him.

walter conjures up a terrible storm that manages to keep the wights and their hollow down for a little bit. he reunites with miss hummingbird, trying to convince her to escape with everyone while they still can. she’s upset that he didn’t stay with the other children and has put himself into danger. he insists that he can handle himself. their conversation is interrupted when a shot rings out, and walter immediately falls. fritz & miss h rush to try and heal him, but are stopped and captured by the wights. everyone, minus millie, is taken and walter is left for dead.

his death ultimately haunts their narrative! fritz & miss hummingbird especially.

i dont think a lot has changed story/personality wise for everyone, but feel free to ask anything cause i love to ramble!

basic storyline in relation to the books: jacob & the peregrine crew don’t really get to meet all the children together, and the only two who generally get to interact with them are millie & fritz. starting in book 2, millie seems to appear (much to everyones dismay) in every body of water they pass. she bothers them with vague, cheshire cat-like stories about how she’s been swimming ever since her own loop collapsed, and how she doesn’t quite know where her loopmates went, but she’s looking!

later, in devil’s acre, fritz is introduced as a peculiar held captive by wights, deemed useful for his healing abilities. thankfully, he is rescued by jacob and emma…. Unthankfully, he gets dragged into the library of souls when things go downhill😭 he never catches a break. but hey, at least his internal clock gets reset! (he’s scarred for life)

i’m a bit iffy on who else gets to survive into the rest of the series! their story is mainly independent of the books and takes place before they start. it “ends” when their loop is invaded and everyone except millie and walter are captured. i do like to imagine them in devil’s acre & the final fight though a little bit.
