…happy pride month gang
happy 20 year anniversary of Neil banging out the tunes!
though every rat is special, it's a wonderful and unusual thing for their accomplishments to be remembered and cherished by so many people so many years later. we're all so fortunate to know about the rat who banged out the tunes!
thank you to all the people who sent me reference photos of their beloved rats for this piece!!! credits under the cut!
say hi to a hearthian solar system au! the idea popped in my head back in august when i made the drawings for this post and thought 'hey, what if instead of cosplay this was their actual home' and everything derailed from there.
each planet has its specificities and each population has its quirks and its own assets it either shares or trades with the rest of the solar system.
the hatchling now gets to not only discover new planets but also the people living there, as their role of emissary doubles as an archeological and a diplomatic mission ::-)

from Welcome to Night Vale episode 175: The October Monologues
Making a shitty one-page RPG called Oh Shit It’s the Killer. The premise is simple: you’re a high schooler spending the weekend in the woods with your besties. The Killer is there also. He is trying to the Kill you
I say shitty not to demean the quality of my work but because it’s less an exercise in good game design and more an attempt to induce paranoid internal conflict that turns into murder (in game of course). It has like three mechanics and one of them actively encourages you to murder the other PCs
Great news!
It’s done
I put like three braincells into this, so if there’s anything about it that outright sucks, uh. Sorry not sorry, L + ratio + let’s use the 1-page restriction as an excuse for any unfun mechanics
“What if there was a game about being a genre-savvy slasher protagonist murdering their way to the role of Final Girl?”
“Sounds cool when exactly does the PvP start”
“character creation”
Back when i worked i spent 8 hours packaging chicken skewers and the first day i was so exhausted that i couldn't stop shaking and whenever i closed my eyes to sleep i kept seeing chicken skewers and i couldn't get the smell out of my clothes so i did my best to picture images of The Beatles instesd but they kept fading & turned into chicken skewers like in some horrible nightmare and i was miserable
This is what it was like
i won't get into which wolf 359 characters i think are or are not lgbt, but i don't really think any of them go to pride, or at least not for, like... pride reasons. minkowski would go to be an enthusiastic and kind of embarrassing ally for someone else in her life, but would get awkward about it any time she thought someone was making assumptions about her. i would say kepler'd volunteer jacobi to go stand on the goddard pride float and throw pens at people, but realistically the si-5 have the kind of jobs where it's best not to have their faces associated with the company, so. kepler devises a contrived scenario that makes jacobi stand on a rival company's pride float. and throw pens at people. for work.
At the end of the day Hal Jordan is just another homeless veteran. He does unpaid hard labor every day and gets belittled and blamed by the 1% (Bruce)
no say this out loud
[id: tags reading: Oliver Queen whispering this in hals ear to radicalize him]
Alana Maxwell is so fascinating and died too soon. She seemed ambivalent about Goddard and SI-5 and their big picture goals. Kepler was a true believer and Jacobi seemed like would follow Kepler anywhere for scraps of validationand was happy being a weapon for Kepler/Goddard to point at stuff and tell him to blow it up. But Maxwell? She seemed so completely amoral but not even For Goddard. She seemed like she could take or leave Goddard. She wasn’t a true believer; she was making Goddard work for her just as much as she worked for them. She got to do cutting edge AI research and travel the world, fully funded. The murder and spy shit was a price she was happy to pay for that.
And through it all she’s by far the most socially well-adjusted member of SI-5. Because the murder and spy shit is really just a day job to her. Kepler is her boss. This isn’t her passion. She’d go wherever the research funding was. The murder and spy shit allows her to pursue her real passion: amoral cutting edge AI research and bonus hanging out with Jacobi. She’s a brilliant hacker/researcher who loves novelty; thrives with creative problem-solving; defines her own very idiosyncratic and self-serving ethics; and doesn’t care about other people.
And yet she’s not cold. She’s not the aloof genius type. She’s friendly. To her, none of this has to mean she’s cruel. She’s not! She’s nice. She’s sympathetic to Hera and even to Lovelace sometimes. She likes fun. She just also has a mission, has her own goals, and other people are tools to get there or obstacles to remove. Doesn’t mean you have to twist the knife. Kepler likes to gloat, to make it hurt; Maxwell does not bother with that part. It’s irrelevant to her goals.
I think Maxwell really truly considered herself Hera’s friend, and I think she really was kind of sorry at what she had to do. But that didn’t mean she wasn’t ready to betray and use her. I think she was sad, and I also don’t think she ever hesitated. It’s not personal. It’s not because she doesn’t see Hera as a person, either. She very much does! She gets her! It’s just that to Maxwell, when real shit is on the line, when it’s her work and what she needs to do to keep doing her work, other people just don’t Matter. She’d do the same to a human in a heartbeat (probably faster; Hera was more interesting to her, more on her level, than most any other human). And she’s fine with that.
I would LOVE to know how she’d react if she survived to season 4; it feels like such a loss! Reacting to Kepler’s betrayal, but also with a far bigger more interesting problem/mystery to solve than what she thought they were being sent up there for? Maxwell would be SUCH an interesting character to have there!
fully believe that armand de unstable subdrops hard and often and probably just assumes you're supposed to feel the worst you've ever felt for a few hours after sex. neither 70 years with louis (catholic) nor the fling with lestat (lestat) have done anything to dissuade him from that notion. the tropey conclusion here would be to say that daniel molloy knows what aftercare is but to be honest i think the best he can do is eight prying questions and a cigarette
the line “you were a lot easier to look up to when you weren’t around” still goes so hard 14ish years later. if damian and bruce’s fraught relationship has but one fan it is me.
they’re at the same crime scene
*criticism of christianity*
"but OP that's not REAL christianity not the PURE AND TRUE christianity that i was raised with, in my sect of christianity we just look for our neighbor's cat in the alps, clearly you've never heard of my beloved Church of the No True Scotsman, it's actually so hurtful when people generalize about real christians like me based on the actions of billions of people over thousands of years including every other christian on the earth"
let me try put this in terms you can understand: climb off the fucking cross already, we need the wood
if i wanted to hear some self-interested christian godbotherer explain why everything they do is exempted from being a part of any pattern of harm i would simply criticize my irish mother
Hey, did you guys know that voice actress Michaela Swee aka Hera Wolf 359 finished her PhD in clinical psychology and currently works at a hospital with the aim of helping people struggling with deep seated self criticism and shame? Did you guys know this?
