Tried to draw my sona but in a Rainworld graffiti style :3
i felt inspired
An excerpt from a torn Diary signed quickly with illegible initials. The pages are worn and tainted with the smell of frosted woodlands, feathers and ocean water. The ink for most of the pages has been moved by the water, but... this paragraph is one of many intact. The writing seems like a rough journal of thoughts at best.
"With hurried breaths and aching hands I swirl that sweet concoction 'till my brow fills with sweat. The task at hand fatigues me. Through the physical labour and the mental anguish of avoiding this isles' law... I push onward and make what is taboo and forbidden. That anguish is a hatred and torture equivalent to that unholy bites and stings of those acidic beasts that inhabit those forsaken central lands, running forth wild in the halls of my mind.
But my mothers and fathers that nurtured me so need my help now. I shan't let go, even if they are willing. That end they welcome so dearly, that they desire… To cross that Rubicon on the edge of World and Life… It frightens me. Sickens me. Locks me in a tomb of middling metal, And winds that rush through my skin; Colder even more than that mystical Septentrio, …at least to the knowing of one like myself.
The cauldron bubbles eagerly, awaiting me at every hour. I waste no tim- I waste none of her time, as I search for that scroll sold in dark corners of the rare ships of merchants from more noble lands than this one...
Past butcher's knife and rabbit's foot, the eye of hunted Wisp and Spirit, in the basket, hidden underneath the cold masks of silver and iron that mask the expressive joys and woes of my people so, I find that precious text. I unroll it, eager to defy the fate that holds my lineage hostage. I am- my heart is filled with vigour and hope. Even if it would mean to become those wisps whose traits are hushed in whispers, those that are hunted without end: I would do it. I am willing to do anything to escape this place."
Well, that's it for now!
Hopefully this is an enjoyable insight onto the world building of a certain island that appears on the maps of a continent I've been sharing maps of on here...
Would love to hear your thoughts on my tumble! (Post? Tumble is a way funnier word for it we should use that instead :3)
Also, wait.. er... hold on a second... how long has it bee- A MONTH???????? OURGHHHHH
COOL and AWESOME Magic System that you should READ and uhhh idk
Here's a concept of a Magic System I made for my "Discworld" concept thingamajig:
Similarly to other fantasy systems, Magic on Discworlds have a "mana"-like resource that is expended upon casting spells: namely, Emotions.
Beings, both human and otherwise, may choose to expend their emotions in order to access branches of spells. Each unique feeling would give access to a different branch, with some overlap and mixing. Of course, feelings come and go, and some are harder to source than others.
So, experienced magicians learned how to cast Magic without expending the required emotion, by risking entering a state of 'Exhaustion' rendering them feeling cold and emotionless.
Whilst this stunts spell-casting long term, it can be useful to save one's life in a pinch, study another branch of spells or speed up transfiguration. (Transfiguration is related to Wisps, more on that later!) It can even have other medicinal uses like helping save someone from heatstroke or increasing lifespan for example, (which would probably come useful in a world where people aren't sure if their God has died or left them or existed at all so afterlife would probably not be looking too great)
Alternatively, one may choose to use magically charged objects - whether living gemstones, body parts, animal blood, grinded herbs, captured spirits or potions - in order to absorb varied concentrations of emotive magic.
However, this also has downsides, as one can easily overwhelm their senses and decision-making skills short term. Extensive use can even cause permanent alterations, like changed personality or appearance. Usually these changes in appearance can even transfer to physical traits too which then the person or animal is considered as a Wisp of the original species. These changes usually happen slowly and over a long period of time though and I decided most people would undergo that (if ever) in their 40s since they'd like feel a certain way for long enough or something. just to like give them something interesting idk. like a second puberty. Maybe it could be called like "Grandhood" or something since it'd usually end by the time you become a grandparent.
Also since technically each emotion is tied to some sort of element in this, steam power would technically just be another variant of magic! There'd also be plants and animals that could for example instill a sense of dread to ward off predators, lull prey to sleep or be perpetually angry so they can swim or run faster or use fire magic and stuff like that idk. Oh yeah also technically power of friendship is a viable magic power source with these rules LMFAO
hmm i should write something sometime that's like a thing people do. i think.
ok i just made some buuullshit! jokes aside say hi to Despa Blacksmear! I think this went pretty well? Definitely an upgrade from my prior works ...which I will not be sending here lmao.
also thoughts on the signature? Probably not complex enough but idk I like it. ALSO i COOKED on the bag, check that thing out. It was meant to be like steampunk-ish but it does give me slight aztec/jungle vibes? Probably the green. definitely the green. love the green.
can we like evolve into a crab or something drawing humans is way too hard
sorry for (mildly) delayed post drawing a human is kicking my ass LOL
collect my maps !! This one in particular showcases the Castles of Great League, a land controlled by Vampires! The different colours represent the several different families, with Grey being whatever small, seperate families. The menacing black swirls represent current capitals.
my daily affirmation as an author
hey uhhh apparently you like should have a social media presence or something crazy and DELUSIONAL like that so I decided to start posting some stuff! Here's a map of the most Northern East continent from my current Steampunk-themed fantasy world building project I'm working on.
The continent depicts a part of a Discworld, a planet which is flat rather than round, having a clear, circular border marked as the "Black Rubicon" leading into a seemingly eternal abyss. The Discworld floats above the abyss, held up by the God of the Discworld, however unlike the land the Oceans regularly pour into the abyss, disappearing without a trace after a certain point. Water endlessly flows from the center of the sky over the toxic continent Terrania which keeps the water cycle going, originating from an unknown source. In between the Abyss and the World is Hell, and above rests Heaven - or so the populace believes. Most peoples are atheist, as potential sightings of God have been observed through weather, distant howls of unique spirits (such as the Raydiff Empire, amongst others.) Some praise, or even worship the undead, hoping to join them and have eternal life without risking permanent death. This has given the vampiric lands of The Great League incredible power. A few Ideologies have however formed around the Black Rubicon. Some peoples believe that sacrificing themselves to the Rubicon in the name of their Gods is the only way to reach eternal salvation (such as The Old Isle.) Others believe that The Rubicon does not mean an endless abyss, but rather a space between worlds where Infinite Gods caring for their own Worlds stretch into infinity. Those would try to traverse the abyss are not lost forever, rather their soul transported to different worlds and reborn in new form. Some even think the water from the sky is a form of reincarnation. (Forests of United Cauldmire, Tribal Nations, among others.) Of course, those who drop in could never relay the information, so some play safe and assume one's Soul and body is left forever dropping in the eternal black. In some books, tales say that the lifespan of the world is finite and will eventually crumble. They say God hid themselves from the world, in shame of telling her people this truth.
This is all I have that I'm 100% ready to share, but there should be more coming very soon!
