The ending of chapter 4 made me love this game even more even though it was actively hurting me to watch. Like this needed to happen so we could see how it affects the characters around it. We see how obviously uncomfortable it is for Susie to see an adult she was beginning to trust acting so different. And Kris also has to once again be slapped in the face by the fact that their family has fallen apart and won’t return to “normal”. Like the dancing scene is funny of the surface but it has this deeply uncomfortable undertone because it feels like you’re seeing something you shouldn’t. (A trusted adult not being responsible and more aware of their situation)

Susie really is a consuming character. She brings so much joy and light to people lives, and for so long she felt like she would always be alone. But once she found friends that would give her a chance and just believe in her, her real personality was able to come through. She has such a big heart and she makes me smile so much in these recent chapters. I feel like she really is the light of this game and it kills me that for so long she wasn’t able too see that. How could such an amazing persons light be dampened for so long by people who couldn’t be bothered to understand her.

I feel like Kris is so emotionally tapped out and seeing their true feelings come to light throughout chapters 3 and 4 has been so cathartic. Like Kris is remembering what it’s like to have people care about you and want to spend genuine time with you. Even though they’re conflicted, I think that these connections they made are so special to them and prove that they ultimately are lovable. (Even if they don’t want to believe it)

It took me a while to finish playing chapter 4 (it takes me forever to finish any game or show its bad) but I’m glad I took a little break from it because I feel like I ended up playing it when I most needed it. I’d been having to confront how lonely I’ve been, and playing this game just made me feel a little better. Especially thinking more about Kris and the emotional isolation they’ve been going through before the events of the game. I just think that this game is amazing and I love all these characters so much. I’ve haven’t clicked this much with a game in a long time and never on this deep of a level for sure. It’s really special to me and I’m glad I get to see how everyone else feels about it too!
