"Well when you’ve been dreaming about something for so long and then when it actually happens its a shock, yeah?"

"You've really been waiting so long? I guess you just saw it before I did"

He blinked at her, wide-eyed for a moment. It wasn’t until she repeated her answer that it actually hit him. “Really?”

"Wow…really?"

She chuckled lightly "Yeah, Is that so hard to believe?"

  He took a breath, deciding it was now or never.

"I was wondering if…you’d be interesting in going out on a date with me. A real date."

She stopped walking when she heard the question, her eyes going to the ground in front of her as she thought it through. "Yes." She said quietly and then looked back up at him "Yes." She repeated a little clearer.

"That’s my girl." He touched her chin.

"You know…Bessie…there’s somethin I’ve been meaning to ask you."

She chuckled and started walking.

"Oh, and what's that?" She asked looking up at him.

  "With a shot of Baileys?" He asked hopefully.

She looked down at her watch "It's after six, why not." She said smiling back up at him.

  He couldn’t help it, his face cracked into a smile. “Yeah…yeah I think I can do that. I’ll just you know….hit the shooting range a little more often…I guess.”

She smiled back at him, glad to see him happy again. "Good. If you think that will help."

"Come on." She said tugging lightly at his sleeve "Let's go get a coffee."

He nodded, swallowing hard. “I lost my head again, Bessie. I’m sorry.”

"If we are going to do this though…we need to be real with each other. Alright? I trust you more than anyone else in the world. But…I don’t want to hear about this shit from a third party. I need to hear it from you."

"It's all right, you don't have to apologise."

She nods "I promise." She says and then smiles a little "As long as you promise not to flip out at everything I say." She teased

His face crumbled and he turned away too late for her not to see. She was right. He knew she was right. But it didn’t make it any easier to look the other way when he knew.

"Alright….alright….Bessie…." He relented painfully.

Her heart lurched when his expression fell away. She walked round him so he was facing her again "I'm not saying we back off completely....but maybe we need to find a new way of doing things."

"I have to believe that, Bessie. I can’t afford to do anything else."

"You used to get that."

[detective-bess]

"I know, and I do get it, Rique, I do.....but don't you ever think that maybe that view does more harm than good? We talk about not liking people taking the law into their own hands but half the time that's exactly what we're doing. Supes have laws the are supposed to ad-hear to and really if we find any thing off we should be reporting it to the Shadowhunters not dealing with it ourselves."

Bess: I don't even really understand what this is.

Bess: No, you're scaring me because you ran away just leaving a note and then you tell me you almost jumped off a bridge. You should have talked to me, Eva.
