when he heard someone call out to him,  the last thing he expected to see what someone rushing towards him excitedly  —  worst yet,  entirely uneffected by his spell.  he was so confused,  so … appalled,   that their words were nearly lost on him.  he watched them move in glee,  going back to step in beat,  carefree as can be and,  honestly,  a bit sloppy.  but how?

even he was not free from his own spell  —  he was able to break free of it temporarily,  but it used such a substantial chunk of his power ( that, and he rarely felt the need to,  regardless.  he was perfectly capable of keeping a beat ).  but they moved entirely without restraint.

to add insult to injury,  they called all this a game.

this was a matter of life or death,  for himself,  for hyrule  —  this was done to protect them and every other citizen of hyrule.  although,  to be fair,  it was a kinder response that outright disdain that he had gotten throughout this journey.  a nuisance,  confusing,  but not going out of their way to stop him.

still remained the question,  what made them exempt from the parameters of his magic?  and who were the others,  then,  if they had had mentioned a we.  octavo,  briefly,  could only stare past his shoulder dumbfounded at them,  brows furrowed and mouth just slightly agape before he composed himself.

“ this is no game, "     he huffed, fully turning towards them,     ” i am saving hyrule!  the only prize is not being obliterated by ganon. “

he had been so caught up in defending himself,  the fact they were able to move freely at all momentarily slipped his mind.  uppity expression with a hand running through thick plum locks almost comically turned panic and accusatory  —  who were they?!

” a - and more importantly  —  how are you able to move?!  the curse should effect everyone of hyrule! “

the bard looked confused –––brows knitting tightly before speaking with such an exasperated tone . had they said something wrong ? dancing like this was fun . each step in a beat and the music drifting over the lands , seemingly carried by the wind itself ! it was wonderful . dethi thought it a complement but it would seem this mage thought otherwise 

dethi swayed their hips side to side , trying to keep in tempo but messing up every few beats ( to which , of course , they corrected themselves ! ) as they listened to him talk . 

❝ obliterate ganon ? well we guess thats a good prize ! but he’s kinda tough ! ❞ besides , you aren’t the chosen hero –– ah , but that would be rude to say , would it not ? was there any harm in trying to be the one to save then be on the sidelines hoping the boy clad in green would come to kill the demon ? 

❝ huh ? oh ! we’re effected . we just chose not to be .  ❞ dethi spoke as if it was so easy to just opt out of . suppose when you’re a god it was ?

I was a minor deity, and though I don’t remember much, when I woke up, I had written this in my journal.

“You have destroyed my temple and parish, slain my guards at their posts, and ransacked my palace of its wealth and treasure, yet even so you lay here, prostrate at my feet, too drunk on the celebrations of your stolen bounty to realize the danger before you.”

So I assume I smote some villainous bastards ass in that dream.

a dark shadow flew over the lost woods this day —— an omen of horrible times to come perhaps ? . . . instead , it was the god of nightmares flying overhead . larger than any bird as wings spread to their full length . . . and yet one seemed to not be as strong as the other , struggling to keep itself straight . the black mass of feathers fell , rose , fell again until the pain overtook them . the god dropped sharply , snapping any branches that tried to soften their descent into the forest . 

finally they tumbled to the ground . their breath labored as they struggled to rise to their talons —dethi yelled out , a sound that was a mix between a human scream & the cry of a bird . the pain . the blood of a god spilled here this day . shot by a hunter who thought them a monster or animal . the arrow still lodged into their shoulder —— oh how it burned ! surly there was a cave somewhere . a place to rest & heal their wounds . . . 

❝  ah . ❞ they gasped , looking to wolfgirl who approached .  ❝ the guardian of the lost woods , d-do forgive us for such a bad introduction ! normally we know how to land ! ❞ laughed before the agony returned , sharp in his arm & body . at yet , the kept a smile on their lips .

DETHI’S BLOOD .

weird thing i came up with last night due to insomnia — i think dethi’s blood is PURE MALICE . 

being born from demise’ birthplace & allowing those infected with the malice into their heart has connected their very soul(s) to the malice . although malice really is only known in BOTW a lot of fans think that in SS the ancient cistern has malice . seen within the boss as well as under the temple turning bokoblins into zombies . anyway - 

i think dethi’s blood when spilled looks red . after a few minutes it will slowly turn to that magenta / pink / purple shade malice looks like . another new minutes past it will grow an eye of malice as well as mouths & other sickly things . it will glow & continue to spread for a while until the eye is killed . it spawns bubbles & other enemies just like normal malice does . but because it could in SS it can curse people & turn them into zombies . 

i think when the second calamity happened dethi got shot by guardians & was terrified . they tried to run to the top of mount lanayru for safe haven .  naydra , the dragon atop the mountain had to turn them away for they were the guardian of the spring of wisdom . dethi understood but their blood had spilled . when the left they had unknowingly infected naydra with malice .

the dream of a fae —— what do they dream of ? oh , the little god was so curious to see first hand the blissful and beautiful imagination of this dokkalfar . 

they came in the form of a raven ( one of their favorite forms for it often went unnoticed in the minds sleepy eyes ) . soft did the wings flutter a few feet away from this being . valeriu was his name . quite a pretty name ! well known in this court of the unseelie . but as they settled their wings and hopped a touch closer the fae turned to look to him . ah , noticed this time ! it would be alright , humans had looked to them before in their dreams —— make some comment like ‘ what a pretty bird ’ than carry on . . . 

but the fae continued to stare . . . valeriu knew he did not belong ? how curious ! now dethi just had to know how ! their wings outstretched once again to hop into the air ; feathers falling from their body until they took their humanoid visage ( much easier to talk with lips rather than a beak ! ) . dethi shook out their hair as two little wings formed upon their head , along side the jingling of jewelry . much better ! 

❝ how’d you know ? oh ! are you a lucid dreamer ? we never meet many of those . ❞ their smile brightened the dream as eyes seemed to sparkle with wonder .

gods in religion have a tendency to have multiple things they are the god of . their domains often overlap with one another but usually have a theme . here i gave a few that i think dethi could be considered the god of . perhaps there are small stories or myths of them about the topics listed below . 

Dethi is the god of : nightmares , dreams ( the windfish is the major god of dreams ) plagues , night ,  madness  &  hallucinations , omens , illness ,  life  &  death , reincarnation , alchemy ,  prophecy ,  recreational drinking , intoxication , community .

Dethi’s symbols are : ravens , crows , dead trees , the colors black & green , ale , storms at sea , a black cloak , black feathers . 

they aren’t part of the major pantheon ( hylia , demise , din ,farore & nayru ) but is still worshiped by cults . they may be brought in passing similar to the way the goddess of sand or the goddess of time is brought up within ocarina of time / majora’s mask . 

i also like to believe dethi is the one giving link  &  zelda the nightmares that foretell ganondorf’s return . most likely told to do so by the goddess hylia  &  they are more than happy to do so to stop demise’s return .  they will use elements of hylia in these dreams so they believe the goddess hylia is the one giving them this omen , but a black bird may appear .
