God F***ing Damnit

RWBY has a ton of references to the Wizard of Oz. Ruby, Salem, Ozpin, his inner circle, and even Zwei all have part of there characters, roles or names being subtle nods to it, nothing of real importance but nods nonetheless. Well I just accidentally not even thinking about it realized there is another big one that as far as I know no one has picked up on, so it might even be an accident.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Jaune is the goddamn Rainbow from the iconic song from the film.

Monty had said that his symbol was a rainbow and is this the reason. This could very well be a coincidence and the rainbow is just because of his siblings but hell man if it is it's one hell of a coincidence.

There is much talk about Toph’s inventing metalbending, and she is clearly an absolute genius, but you know what I love about her even more?

Toph’s response to not being able to control sand absolutely perfectly (as in hold up a sinking tower with one hand and fight off a gang of sandbenders with the other) is to work on her sandbending until she’s fully in control of every speck of dirt.

She is so wonderfully stubborn - she pursues bending not as a tool to defeat someone or gain power, but just to prove that she can do it. She’s the basic researcher of earthbending - just keeps pushing the limits of what can be done with no mind to the practical application.

I have this headcanon that whenever Jason and Tim have an opportunity to refer to Damian’s age, they keep progressively saying he’s younger and younger just to get under Dami’s skin.

*Watching TV and there’s a sex scene*

Jason, leaping over the coffee table to cover Damian’s eyes: Don’t let him see! He’s only ten!

Damian, hissing like an angry cat: I am fourteen you idiot, and I already know what intercourse is!

*One of the Titans cuss in front of him*

Tim, allowing his coffee mug to drop and shatter on the ground in order to cover Damian’s ears: Conner you can’t speak in front of him like that, he’s seven for hecks sake!

Damian, bright red with anger: Unhand me Drake before I punch you with my FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD FIST

*After carefully glancing around to make sure no one is watching him at one of Bruce’s charity galas, Damian sneaks a sip of champagne*

Jason and Tim after appearing from out of nowhere:

“Goodness gravy, Damian! You’re only three years old, stop trying to grow up so fast.”

“Why don’t we get you some juice? Nine month olds are allowed to drink juice right?”

Damian: *screams*

I’ve made so many people uncomfortable in supporting my daughter’s personal space. People will try to hug her, she’ll sometimes say “No, thank you” and the adult will look at me to make her do it, but I just say “It’s ok honey, you don’t have to hug anyone you don’t want to.” It makes people irrationally huffy, making me feel even more justified in supporting my daughter’s choices. Creeps.
