A little jitter
This is a more fast paced song that 7-1M will say when he is running away and teasing and taunting a character.
I've got a pair of dice to roll!~♪
Come on let's go~♪ Gotta stop moving Slow~♪ Before Chaos gets ahold~♪ You are not, very bold~♪
Don’t you know? It’s a shame~♪ You can’t continue this very game~♪
Demons come~ It’s not fun~ You have to run~ Or you’ll be done~
Flowey Art Piece
I’m delaying this so much with makeup work, but I’ll probably have a rough sketch done by Tuesday.

Mod Critic
So, even if he never actually posts something on this blog, @espeneldritch has been helping me edit things by reading through the stories and giving me advice. So, I dub Pen Mod Critic, for helping me out.
As Mod Critic, Pen’s allowed to edit things (of course, I want to be alerted of changes so that I can see if they fit the story). Pen is also free to make art, or ask questions. Anything Pen wants to do, as long as they make sure it fits within the AU.

L-3N4′s Rhyme
L-3N4 has a rhyme they learned from a seer. They like the rhyme a lot, and refuse to forget it, so they put it to a creepy tune that they like to sing. The following is that song.
I've got a basket full of spooks~
I'm gonna live and it's not a fluke~
I can see the second layer~
No one else can see what's there~
Berries that bite and flowers die~
This is a song that doesn't lie~
I'm gonna walk into the grave~
No one is there for them to save~
In a land that's full of dust~
All metal does is turn to rust~
Berries that screech within the light~
All they know is how to FIGHT~
LOVE is for those who like to kill~
EXP is for LV fill~
If you are feeling a little scared~
Just remember the ones that cared~
For they are all gone so soon~
Right underneath the big full moon~
Flowers dead for a poisonous brew~
I'm gonna kill the ones that slew~
how did sans escape hearing damage?
Alright. This is a GREAT first question.
It has to do with the instability of the substances he was working with. They have different effects on different monsters, and this was his third time being exposed to a reaction between the two substances.
These two substances are Liquid Determination, and Liquid Magic. He was using his own magic for the liquid magic as well.
Now, about 65% of the time, the mixture will explode in some way, and Sans was prepared for that result for a minor explosion, since he had only been intending to mix a small amount, instead of the amount he did pour together. He had been wearing some protective gear (which didn’t help much in the long run).
Now, this explosion could have had any number effects on the monsters within just sound radius of the explosion. However, because it was Sans’s magic used, which is often concentrated in his eyes when he uses it, it only affected monsters who had a similar magical heritage as him. He had a backlash of magic that caused him to go blind.
Papyrus, being close enough to hear the very loud explosion, was close enough for the substances to effect him as well. It wasn’t the sound of the explosion that made him deaf, but rather the effects of being near the Liquid Determination and Liquid Magic. I’m actually really proud of you to have caught that. Not many other people have. The explosion itself did no harm to Sans, but his magic is what hurt him, just like it was the magic that hurt Papyrus. Different effects on different monsters.
Thank you for asking @pennystatic.
Détruittale VS Undertale
Détruittale is caused by a shift in fortune vs misfortune. But what is Fortune and what is Misfortune? Why is Fortune and Misfortune capitalized in this sense? What is affected by this shift?
Fortune is everything GOOD that happens in day to day life. When you wake up and go on a walk and find a $20. When some stranger buys your drink for you. When you have somewhere to go and have no traffic. When you get that 100% on a test. When you get into a car crash but you don’t get injured at all, and your vehicle is somehow intact aside from a few scrapes. These are all examples of what Fortune causes.
Misfortune is everything BAD that happens. That day when you lose your wallet, or your home gets robbed. When you have a car crash and you get broken limbs, or a family member who was riding with you loses their life. When you fail your class, or when you get fired. When someone robs the store you are working at. These are things that Misfortune causes.
The reason why Fortune and Misfortune are capitalized is that there are beings trapped inside the Void that are the embodiment of Fortune and Misfortune. As long as both are trapped inside, then Fortune and Misfortune are balanced, making the life we know as every day life. However, if one escapes, then that one begins to overpower the other. If Fortune were to escape, then more good things would happen then bad, but if Misfortune escaped, then more bad would happen then good. If BOTH got out, then they would war with each other, causing chaos in multiple was, for both overpoweringly good things would happen, with overpoweringly bad things happening. These creatures do not care for anything other then making the things they cause happen to happen. As long as both are trapped, they cannot heavily influence others.
But someone made a mistake, and created a tear in the void. It was small, and nothing could escape at the time, but an influx and efflux of great power temporarily increased the tear long enough for Misfortune to escape the Void.
The Underground and the Surface began to suffer for it.
Most of the look of the Underground itself wouldn't change aside from there would be more things to promote safety of everyone, like supports in certain parts of the Underground to prevent any sort of collapse. There would be fences, and people would either be wearing things for their injuries/disabilities or have someone to help them with a mental issue that developed. Sharp things that aren't a magic weapon would be dulled. Ice on the ground is broken up and has gravel/clay put over it. Waterfall itself has warning signs everywhere to be careful about the wet ground. Hotlands has fences to prevent people from falling into the lava. Any place with a long drop has a fence too.
About 90% of the Underground is affected by this; spirits, ghosts, elementals, or beings more tied to a less physical plane (like beings with a 6th sense) being affected more mentally then everyone else, and everyone else getting affected more physically by bad happenings.
Many people approached Asgore about these events, and he appointed a scientific team to find solutions. Not many people approved of this, and wanted Asgore to do something about it, but Asgore became scary. He wielded a scythe instead of a trident now, and wore a mask to hide his face. The people still loved the King, for he was still kind and caring, but he became withdrawn and didn't come out as often. It made a majority of the Underground scared and worried.
Many people in New Home grew nervous, some even going as far as to move out of New Home and away from the King. They grew scared to do anything that the King didn't approve of, and would insist that everyone always follow the rules and not press the King to do things, or contradict what he says.
Those in Hotlands grew nervous around the lava, and moved to areas away from the edges and away from the Core, not wanting to risk some horrible accident, insisting that safety measured be added as soon as possible. They didn't like how slow things were being dealt with, and grew frustrated and harsh towards those who weren't concerned about what was going on in the Underground.
In Waterfall, you either learned how to swim, knew how to swim, or could fly. Safety netting and basic fences were put in where you couldn't fall in accidentally, but you could still go for a swim if you wanted. The cliffs got fenced and the bridges got some safety rails. The Trash area wasn't considered off limits, but you are advised to wear safety gear before going there. If you couldn't swim, you either moved out of Waterfall, or you moved away from the water. They Understood that certain areas have more dangerous things to deal with, like the Core and Hotlands, but they still wanted more (and stronger) safety supports for Waterfall.
The Temmies became reclusive, only leaving Tem Village is they REALLY had to, and began to use the scientific advancements that were released to grow food. They were still friendly to anyone who showed up, but they didn't want to risk anyone getting hurt.
Snowdin became a more welcoming place to live, being less cliffs and dangerous things like Lava, and the people there being very friendly. The ice was dealt with my salt and clay pebbles so that the clay would absorb water and make everything less slippery. Trees were cut back from the main living area to prevent trees from falling down on someone, and the trees that were kept got supports to prevent it from falling over. Since only a few people living in Snowdin were affected by the disaster (since it started closer to New Home first and they took precautions before anything bad happened), they didn't see what was happening as something that couldn't be prevented, like other monsters. They still had some bad things happen, but not as much as other places.
The Royal Guard gained more jobs. They had to be strong enough to push through the bad occurrences and still be able to help other monsters. They protect and assist all who need it. They still hunt down criminals as well (which, while there aren’t many in the Underground, there are a few), and their main job is to still be on the lookout for humans, but the safety of the monster populace comes first. If a human isn’t doing something wrong, and a monster is in trouble, then it is a guard’s duty to assist the monster first.
In the Ruins, most of the monsters moved closer to the old Royal house. Toriel helped put up supports and cooks food for all the monsters taking shelter away from the crumbling areas of the Ruins. The Ruins became super dangerous to live in, making the monsters living there have to adapt in order to survive the dangerous area. They didn't know anything about what was happening outside the Ruins, and they were unsure they wanted to know, instead deciding to stay there, keeping the door to the rest of the Underground shut.
Any puzzles or traps were changed to be safer in all areas of the Underground.
The population as a whole in the Underground reacted by extreme support for each other and helping each other out. If you didn't help someone when you could have, the first time, you get a warning, but the second time, you were subject to being ignored or locked up for being a liability to other's safety.
The happenings did eventually get a name. They were called The Denouement.
As for how those afflicted by Misfortune, they immediately got support from other monsters. They were very willing to help each other out, and those not afflicted helped as much as they could (while only a couple retreated into areas with no monsters to avoid the risk of becoming afflicted by The Denouement as well).
The Surface however, did not change in the same way as the Underground.
Over time, the people on the surface began to become cold to others, thinking that these bad things were caused intentionally by other people. Things began to get more tense and hostile.
While, no new Wars started, but people refused to help others they saw in need, and began to be more distant with each other. Most other things didn’t change other then things becoming horrible.
Politicians would campaign of trying to make things better, only to fail miserably when they got in office. There were still good Samaritans, and family stuck together, but people pushed those they didn’t know away.
More arguments happened, and less children were being born due to a reluctance to get to know other people. The population swiftly declined after 173X during the rule of Misfortune. The humans have no name for the affliction, thinking that is was just caused by the jerkiness and douchebaggery of other humans.
Now, how bad would things be if Fortune escaped with Misfortune running about?
If Fortune escaped the Void while Misfortune was still running around, they would begin to war with each other. Things would begin to fall apart. WWII would be a baby compared to the death and destruction caused by their fighting. The world would begin to fall apart as towns and cities were destroyed and ruined, and living creatures all over would begin to die. The first and last time this happened, it took 100 Boss Monsters and 500 Wizards to trap them inside the Void, resulting in the death of all those who helped trap them. That was back when there were a lot more Monsters and Wizards, and when science wasn't as developed. To trap them again would be near impossible unless you had someone who knew how to deal with them. It would be the end of the world. People would be scared for their lives. They wouldn't want to die. It is the base fear that almost everyone (besides a few) has, and it would show by them trying to find ways to prevent their inevitable death.
Pennystatic’s View
The following is @pennystatic‘s view on a disaster situation where Fortune didn’t escape, but Misfortune didn’t get contained or controlled. This is all quoted word for word, and I have permission to be posting this. Also the () in Pen’s typing is something that we don’t have the name for yet.
We have each other's backs down here. We have for as long as anyone can remember. After the (), this didn't change. If anything, we pushed closer together, we were stronger together after all. It never occurred to me- nor anyone I knew that this would be the one hardship we couldn't weather.
We're closer than ever now, we never allow anyone to fall victim to our curse. "None fall behind," a unified idea, popularized by our king. So kind, so just. He could no longer bear witness to the suffering of his people after his own plight. He's practically family now, they all are. The invention of the Undernet was an incredible leap forwards for my people. No longer did we have to leave our homes, no longer did we fear taking a step and loosing a leg to a simple twisted ankle.
What once began as isolated incidents, consumed us all. We had to disaster-proof the underground, but even that soon proved hopeless as every aspect of our lives fell out of our control. Yes, this invention would help us all. Huddled up to my family in our saferoom, I could see the excitement in their faces. We switched on the the delivered device, grinning happily at the Healthy Few. I grinned as the rest, but it struck me like so many others; this was to be the beginning of the end.
(that's my take on a disaster scenario in your world. misfortune builds until there's no way to stop it but complete isolation. the last left watch everything crumble, helpless. that's what I would fear in their shoes)
Chara’s Reading of 5-4N5 Gaster File to Frisk and Papyrus
Chara: *Hovering by them.* Is that Wingdings?! *Looking at the folders, they can read it.* Hoooly shit…
Frisk: You know this, Chara?
Chara: Yeah! I was friends with the Royal Scientist before he vanished! Lets *Papyrus hear them inside of his own head for this. He even heard their exclamation earlier.* He taught me sign language and how to read Wingdings.
Papyrus: You had a connection with Gaster himself, impressive!
Frisk: So, can you read these for us?
Chara: He examined my soul to try and figure out a way to trick the barrier. I even let him take some samples of determination. And sure! Which file do you want read?
Frisk: 5-4N5
Chara: Okay! “While I was working on L-3N4, I accidentally spilled some liquid magic and liquid determination onto my dusted college’s favorite labcoat. He was an older fellow, and he loved all of us. The result was…interesting. A soul formed, and was trying to form a body. I quickly put it into a stasis tank so I could gather up what it needed to fully form. Once released, a skeleton formed who looked only a few years younger then me, and a bit older then Alphys. I couldn’t believe my eyes…but…Comic was back, and more…young. He didn’t remember everything though…A lot of his memories were lost, so I helped him. My friend was back…my assistant. One of my family. Last time I had tried Liquid Magic and Determination together, it blew up violently…and it was him who saved me from being damaged, at the cost of being dusted himself. I find it strange that the same thing that killed him, also brought him back to life. I am glad though. He asked me, however, to not call him by Comic, since Comic had died, but suggested an experiment name 5-4N5. I obliged…but after a while, I took to calling him Sans. He’s a great skeleton. Part of me wonders what he thinks of me…but I do not ask. For now, I shall just help him recover and learn. I expect great things from him, and perhaps…something more then just great.”
Chara: Oh hey. Another entry–This is more like a diary entry then a lab report… “Sans is going to end up being the death of me one day. He, Beta, and Alphys asked me how skeleton reproduction worked. I ended up choking on my coffee. He did that on purpose! Next time the prank wars happen, I will not hold back for that. I told them that it was magic and to go work on something. Sans left something on my desk, and—He…asked me on a date…” There are a lot of scribbles and marks here I can’t understand… “I may or may not have decided to humor him…maybe…” Oh gosh. Did Wingdings actually like him? It would make sense for them to get along so well! *They giggled.*
Chara: There doesn’t seem to be anymore entries besides a few instances of Sans getting super sick and the care done for him…This is interesting though. I always thought they were brothers, but I guess, they didn’t look anything alike at all…It is strange though…I guess that means Gaster had some feelings for the original Comic, and that transferred over at first, but then it changed and he began to get attached to Sans? I have no clue how emotions work.
((WRONG BLOG! It was supposed to be on this one. Whoops. I also deleted it on the other blog))
Sans’s Writings on the Disappearance of Gaster and the Followers.
They are all gone...No one but me remembers our scientific team...our family...Luther, our biologist, always making sure we eat healthy food and take regular breaks...Vince...our chemist...Despite having no eyes, he was the best at what he did. He made medicine and he took care of us like the family he lost to that freak accident...Beta...man, he was younger then all of us, but he was the best with Physics...he made the greatest Rube Goldberg machines to entertain us...Thane, the emotionless husk. He may not have felt anything, but he looked after us...I get the feeling that while Luther couldn't express his multiple emotions, he was good at explaining them to Thane and Thane was actually starting to develop a few emotions...And then...well, he wasn't so much a Follower so much as the head of the Lab...the Royal Scientist...Dr. Gaster. He built the core...Alphys was part of our team of scientists too...she worked mechanics, but Gaster. He did EVERYTHING. He was brilliant...and amazing...We had even been trying to figure out a way to fool the barrier so no human would have to die to break it...but...something...went wrong at the Core...an explosion...Gaster and the main team...Luther, Beta, Thane, Vince...they went out to try and fix it...and...they...they never came back...and now NO ONE remembers them at ALL!!!
...
I will figure out what happened and I will reverse the damage...I'll find a way to get them back...I have to...
*Tear stains cover the pages.*
Détruittale: Series L - Experiment 3N - Test 4
Gaster was supposed to be figuring out a way to break the barrier without anyone having to die or get hurt. Asgore’s ‘orders.’ Not that Asgore needed to order him. He told the King he would figure something out. It is just taking more time then he expected. He tried a few experiments on the barrier, and only succeeded in getting a crack on his skull and almost getting his assistant, Alphys, hurt. He then put Alphys in charge of robotics (she has the skills, despite being hesitant). He told Alphys to work with 7#4^3 while she got used to the new arrangement. He posted an ad for an assistant (new members to the faculty was always nice and fun, specially with 8374, 1U7#3r, and V1^c3^7).
He often would talk with the Dreemurr child, Chara. They were more then willing to let him examine their soul and take notes on it. He never did anything Chara didn’t want done. They even got along very well, which wasn’t surprising to Gaster since he’s a family friend. They were interesting to play against during chess matches. He figured that he couldn’t break the barrier by force, but he wasn’t coming up with any new ideas.
Chara then suggested that Gaster try to trick the barrier and make a fake soul, or something like that. Gaster beamed and got to work. He hired a new assistant, an older and wiser monster, but something tragic happened in the lab. The assistant’s HP was sent to 0. He dusted. It delayed a lot of the work that Gaster and his coworkers were doing. It was a week before things got back on track. One day, while Gaster was working on Experiment 3N, he accidentally knocked some of the things he was working with over onto the deceased assistant’s favorite labcoat. What was spilled, shall not be revealed at the moment, but the result was a weak and small monster soul. Gaster quickly got to work to save the soul and help it form a body. When it did form a body, it was revealed to be a monster who would probably be about 3 years younger then Gaster. This monster, however, knew everything that the old assistant had known, which led Gaster to think about the possibilities with the two unstable substances. It was a stroke of pure LUCK that something horrible didn’t happen when those two mixed.
He got back to work on 3N, and his ‘new assistant,’ or...rather, 4N, decided he needed a new name, and until then was more then happy to take an experiment name since he still has to go through a lot of medical examinations and tests to make sure he was okay. When 4N left the room, he looked at the body he created for little 3N. He didn’t mean to make a child body as a container, but he couldn’t bring himself to want to hurt any of his experiments by trying to use them to break the barrier. 45H, 3N, 4N, 94P, 71M, and 1U were not going to be used for anything like that or hurt. Not on his watch.
HELLO FOLLOWERS.

Détruittale: Gaster
Gaster vanished about a year before the human child died.
He had been working on something that could have changed how things worked in the Underground forever.
He had been working on the CORE. A device to power the whole Underground. But not many people know that he is building something else, inside the depths of the CORE, a place only he and Sans could get to. A machine that could potentially alter fate and reality.
They had planned to use this machine to break the barrier, but something went wrong. There was a meltdown and an explosion. Gaster was caught right in the middle of the chaos, and was ripped out of the timeline and sent to the void, a place between worlds, between life and death. Gaster was forgotten in the timeline by all except Sans, who had been exposed to the reality altering machine. Gaster now searches for a way back to his timeline from the void, while Sans tries to find a way to bring Gaster back from reality.
Befoooooore.
After.
I’ve been practicing. I’ll be doing more with my AU soon! Detruittale! For now, I just have this. Note: Sans’s cane can actually be doubled with his magic to let him see out of its eyes, but only for short periods of time. Otherwise, Sans uses a type of magical echolocation to ‘see’ where he is. Also, please note that I am not a strong drawer, I’m doing this on Microsoft Paint, and I am using a laptop touchpad. I say for being not great at drawing and the program I am using, this is a great improvement (I’m using the tools more).
Détruittale: Sans and Papyrus
Sans was doing a very delicate off the books experiment involving the liquefied Determination and liquefied magic. He has to be very very careful with this. Both the magic and the Determination are unstable on their own, and he really doesn’t want either to blow up on him as he studies the properties and tries to very carefully see what happens when he mixes them. He has a ton of precautions set in place just in case of an explosion though.
He just got done looking at some liquid magic through a microscope when something happened.
Papyrus shouted very loudly for Sans, heading to the door in the back leading to the stairs down, startling Sans. “SANS!!!! WHERE ARE YOU, YOU LAZYBONES?! WE NEED-” But Papyrus didn’t get any further than that.
Sans, when he was startled, and jolted. The liquid magic slipped out of his hand and crashed into the vial with liquid Determination. There was a very loud explosion.
Papyrus was pushed back a bit by the explosion, and afterwards, all he could hear was a ringing sound, and then silence. He couldn’t even hear himself as he yelled for Sans. “SAAANS!!! ARE YOU OKAY?!” He is very shaken up when he doesn’t hear himself and tries to not panic. He slowly goes down the stairs and gasps in horror at what he sees.
Sans has been blasted into a wall, his skull badly cracked around his eye sockets, and the sockets were drooping slightly, having been damaged by the explosion.
Papyrus stumbled over to Sans, saying his name over and over, telling him to wake up. He begins crying. He can’t hear a single thing and he is trying so hard to not panic.
When Sans wakes up, he can’t see a damn thing, but he hears Papyrus. “Papyrus, please calm down.”
Papyrus noticed Sans move and relaxed a bit, but he is still a bit upset. “Sans...I can’t hear anything...”
Sans sighs and writes on a piece of paper, which his writing is very horrible now, “Well, I don’t think I can see anymore. I think I may be blind, Paps. As for your loss of hearing, I’ll help teach you ways to work around it. We’ll have to work together from now on Paps. So trust me.”
Papyrus reads what Sans wrote and says, “Okay brother. I trust you. But first, let’s clean and cover your injuries.” He then cleans up Sans’s skull and puts a cyan blindfold around the cracks and Sans’s eye-sockets to hide them from anyone’s view, and to protect Sans’s skull.
As time continues, Sans teaches Papyrus how to use sign language and how to read body language and judge vibrations in the air, and how to read lips. It took a lot of time to teach Papyrus sign language, and he had Grillby help him with teaching Papyrus how to read body language. He had Undyne help him with reading lips. He gets in contact with a few other monsters to help Papyrus learn these things with people he doesn’t know. He is now really good at communication, and Sans taught him how to block attacks and dodge them too, and his skill with his lack of hearing just helps him to do that more. All of that takes many years for Papyrus to master though.
Sans later develops a cane with a tiny blaster head on it that he made to ‘see’ out of if he poured his magic into it. The cane uses too much magic to use though, so he can’t use it for any point and time without him getting super tired to the point of instantly passing out, or just flat out killing him, making it a liability, rather then a help, so it is just a cool looking cane. He wears a slightly softer and lighter hoodie, but it is just as warm to him. It is made of a lighter material because he doesn’t want to be thrown off balance since he has lost his sight. A serious fall could badly injure him, and it took him forever after the explosion to get his HP back to the full 1 HP. It stayed at like .5/1 HP for the longest of times.
A lot later, while helping Papyrus learn how to communicate, he learned he could use his judgement magic to detect high LV or concentrations of magic if what he was dealing with was alive.
(Both Papyrus and Sans development will gain stories later.)
Détruittale: Mettaton
He was so excited when Alphys finished his new body. He went in it and instantly loved it, and became corporeal, and after a short while, he became the star of the Underground.
His joy of achievement was short lived.
Alphys’s accident happened so suddenly. When he found out that she almost died and could no longer speak due to damaged vocal cords, he was horrified. He was distracted for a long while afterwards, always worrying for Alphys. So he offered to help her out when she worked and he didn’t have a recording to do. However, while helping her with one of the experiments, he got electrocuted, shorting out some of the pieces inside of him. Alphys tried her best to completely fix him, but now Mettaton shorts out and freezes at the worst of times. He still does recordings and shows, but sometimes him shorting out can be highly dangerous for him, so he and Alphys decided to get Napstablook’s help, despite Napsta’s short term memory loss. It took a long while before Napsta no longer forgot that Mettaton could short out and who Alphys is, and that Mettaon is actually his cousin, Hapstablook. Napsta from that point on tries his best to help Mettaton out, and both he and Alphys keep an eye on Mettaton, just in case he shorts out at a very very horrible time.
