That done, Xylan draped himself across a chair and announced, “Your dear uncles get more charming by the day, husband.” “Do not,” Cair said firmly, startled out of his musings, “give them any reason to dislike you more than they already do. They disapprove of my life choices enough without your help.” Xylan pouted. “But I’m so charming.” Cair gave him a flat look. Xylan’s expression turned to a smug-cat smirk. He hated that he still found it endearing. Or: Safe on Coruscant, as the dust settles, Cair and Xylan have to actually figure out where to go from here.

this is also my day 6 for @thehighrepublicweek! unfortunately this is the last fic i have prepped, but this was a lot of fun and i enjoyed it :)

High Republic Week Day 4! i love love LOVE the ways the High Republic shows relationships, whether familial, platonic, romantic, or anything else. i especially love this with the Jedi characters, like Rooper Nitani with her friends Dass and Sky, who are able to really demonstrate that Jedi are not only allowed but encouraged to be compassionate and to forge strong relationships with others, and that the real doctrine of nonattachment comes when the Jedi must choose Life and Light over those they care for.

i also really want to shout out our first (? i think) queer-platonic relationship in Maz Kanata and Dexter Jettster in Phase II (and a little bit in Phase III!) and how that relationship, defined so beautifully during the Battle of Jedha, was at the emotional fulcrum of the whole comic run.

while i love and participate in shipping as much as any other alloromantic fan (i'm still not wholly convinced Rooper wasn't flirting back with Sky), i love that the High Republic gives us so many beautiful relationships of all kinds.

High Republic Week day 2: For Light and Life!

the Jedi are far-and-away my favorite part of the High Republic. i have loved the Jedi ever since i was a little kid seeing Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon leap into danger to rescue Amidala and her entourage from battle droids for the first time.

the High Republic has given us a unique look into the lives of Jedi outside of just them facing combat and external conflict. we’ve gotten stories of Jedi initiates like Nima and Viv’nia in Edge of Balance or Tep Tep, Gavi, and Kildo in Phase III’s comics and middle grade books. we’ve had stories of Padawans like Rooper and Matty in Phase II and Reath and Bell in Phase I, knights like Keeve and Vernestra in Phase I and Bell and Imri in Phase III, and Masters throughout.

the Jedi are at the heart of the High Republic and i am so, so grateful for it.

this little Viv’nia and Nima fic is one of my favorites i’ve written about the Jedi in this era, so i’m gonna include it here!

happy High Republic Appreciation Week!!! i have loved all three phases and all the spinoff stories, but i keep coming back to Phase II, Gella Nattai, Rooper Nitani, and the subject of this post Yana Ro.

Yana’s constant heartbreak and intense emotions really got me invested in her and watching her struggle against conflicts both internal and external made me fall in love with Phase II
