To best fit the already existing animation/lore of 3below Steve/solaris would have to go missing before the show’s timeline
In that case there was a failed coup by morando that resulted in Solaris being lost (think po’s mother scene in Kung fu panda 2). This would give a stronger reason to Aja NOT wanting to be at the ceremony (it should have been her older brother’s becoming king ceremony) while also adding more to Krel being reclusive but protective. In this case Aja and Krel would be twins or they could be triplets with Solaris being the first born.
In this situation Solaris would have lost his memory and in my mind it would be because of area 49-B. The ship Solaris is on has a Mother as well that uses its own energy to transform itself into a pin (the one we see) to keep the disguise on Solaris. OR Douxie and/or Zoe are involved.
If we go with Zoe this could be foreshadowing for wizards and also Zoe’s secret past. Zoe could use a spell to keep a glamour on Solaris to let him live as a human.
This would give more explanation to Steve’s strange “keep the other, must be on top” reasoning we see for Steve being a bully. It is his past but extremely muddled.
Over the course of trollhunters Steve would become an ally and his old self would peek through. He would end up assisting Jim with training and even defend him during the trial in season 2. This leads to both Steve and Jim falling into the Deep.
Aja and Krel would be very concerned and confused by their older brothers personality (who was extremely kind, caring, and self sacrificing). But they also don’t want him to get his full memories back because if he does he will give everything up to be king again so his siblings could be free.
This makes Aja’s decision to be queen have much more weight to it. Also krel’s decision to stay on earth and explore more important since we first meet him as introverted and contained.
Solaris dies. He is the one to activate the canon using a magic trick he recalls from Zoe (the wizards foreshadowing).
This is not a happy story. It is bittersweet.
