#Marchmeetthemaker - Day 4 #Branding Ok so for today’s prompt I have decided to show you some images I have made along with the inspiration sources. I guess that if I could brand myself as an Illustrator, at least for the time being, I would say that I enjoy drawing monsters and weird creatures, and whenever I can, I like to get my inspiration fom old engravings and paintings from the Middle Ages. . . All of the images are from the book Santo Remedio published in Mexico by @petra.ediciones and written by Ernesto Lumbreras. . . For the first image my main inspiration was the Calavera Catrina (Elegant Skull) from the Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada. And it’s partly thanks to this image that I got my first contract as an author-illustator with @bigpicturebooks (I might share that story some other time). . . Other illustrations were inspired by engravings from the Reinassance, classic horror movies and mexican motifs. . . #Calaveracatrina #Catrina #Elagantskull #Picturebookmakers #Picturebookartwork #Picturebookinspiration #Engraving #Joseguadalupeposada #posada #Santoremedio #petraediciones #Mexicanengraving #monsters #skull #skulls #monsterbooks #magic #ilustradorasmexicanas #womendrawing #marchmeetthemaker2020 #day4 #illustratorsoninstagram #femaleartist #childrensbooks #childrenspicturebooks #childrensbookstagram (at Mexico City, Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/B9U5oPJjDxe/?igshid=pti8672z36t7
