i was scrolling tumblr while listening to music and i scrolled onto a post of jerma on the flute and the scroll down synced with the instrument solo and it both inspired and compelled me to make this
I'm new to making blinkees and whatnot so they're not the best, but I wanted to give a stab at it. So here's some Psychonauts Characters Blinkees! I'm willing to make more or do different styles if you give me suggestions!

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
I only ever saw the part where people started drawing the limbs outrageously long and genuinely wanted to know how to fix that, so I’m really thankful to see the rest.
Steven universe OCs!! Blue Chrysoberyl, Yellow Jasper, and Pyrite. Lore + art under cut.
(( originally designed them as executioners, ignore that!) (also size-wise Jasper is about canon Jasper's size maybe a little bigger)
Chrysoberyls are very competitive, rare soldiers only used when the intent is to shatter the target. This blue chrysoberyl is considered extremely high-quality and is the go-to for important missions, like shattering the crystal gems because they keep getting away every time they get caught. She was sent with a jasper to guard her and a pyrite to assist them. Blue copes with the guilt of everything she's done by disassociating hardcore. She hasn't really felt anything in ages and she's always spacing out. She speaks very politely and calmly, even in deadly situations, and doesn't really value her life. Jasper is a cheerful, optimistic, nervous, tough idiot. She's also a pretty high-quality gem. She only really feels confident when she's fighting. She'll eventually find she just doesn't have the heart to let someone get shattered.
This is the pyrite assistant that was sent with them! Pyrites are similar to pearls in that they're low-ranking servants, but instead of being owned by one gem they serve a group (and are often customized to match). They might act as court transcibers whatever the word is, messengers, ect., but they usually serve soldiers like rubies and quartzes. They'll offer guidance, take care of the troop, do as they're told, and most importantly assist on the battlefield by carrying messages, gathering poofed gems and gem shards, and even fusing with soldiers. When a pyrite fuses, they aren't really a component, they just add armor and durability and effect nothing but the physical added armor. pyrites also serve as kind of living radios, using their antennae to receive messages.
This pyrite used to belong to a group of 8 rubies (she won't admit it, but she loved them) that helped guard a diamond base on earth. They were all shattered or corrupted during the War, so pyrite ended up a messenger and kind of just general servant for all the quartzes in her new Homeworld complex for the next few thousand years before being assigned to go with Chry and Jasper. She's tired, jaded, irritable, bad-tempered, energetic and easily bored (pyrites are like working dog breeds, they need lots of tasks or they'll get bored), and she insists she isn't but she's very caring and cautious of everyone's safety. She misses her rubies so bad man

I kid you not I almost reached the lineart phase on like 7 different designs for Chry's new design I was just tired of it. I need to redo her main design anyway since I changed her to a soldier
I really have to thank Psychonauts for getting me to start drawing humans, It was such a difficult step for my art journey but HOLY SHIT it was so worth it, I love drawing people, this is amazing
