Episode 34: They Needed a Pilot
We’re back with another look at a character that had a lot of potential in the Sequel Trilogy that got completely squandered. This time, we’re looking at Poe Dameron, the fan favorite rebel pilot that no one ever seemed to know quite what to do with despite all of the mighty potential of Oscar Isaac.

Marcia Lucas was the editor on 1983’s "Return of the Jedi" and the pre-"Star Wars" George Lucas-directed films "THX 1138" and "American Graffiti."
She was also part of the editing team for director Martin Scorsese’s 1970s films "Taxi Driver," "Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore" and "New York, New York."
Marcia Lucas was often called the unsung hero of "Star Wars," the original film that after sequels, prequels and spinoffs has come to be known by its subtitle, "A New Hope."
She convinced husband George that he should have Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness, in his light saber battle with Darth Vader and become a spirit guide to Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker.
And she had to make sense of the raw footage that could’ve been a mess in the wrong hands, including the climactic rebel attack on the Death Star.

"Her influence on film is indelible, but those who knew her best will remember the way she made life feel more vivid, more beautiful, more fun, and more full of love," a family statement said. "Her work was known for its emotional intelligence, rhythm, and humanity — a rare ability to find the truth of a scene and bring heart, momentum, and clarity to the screen."
Hot Take: Loving characters for being kind, compassionate, caring, and good is just as full of nuance and depth as anything else. Loving characters for relentlessly doing their best and celebrating the heroism of those characters is not less realistic than fixating on their flaws to criticize them. Loving characters for being kind people who never waver in their dedication to choosing the best option they see is not a more shallow take. Loving characters for being good is just as valid and profound as anything else.

One of my favorite canon couples ever. Just wish their story ends happier 🥲
the thing about mace windu and count dooku is that it's simply so instantly believable that they were friends once. from what little we get of them, their characterization creates a dynamic that would so clearly mesh well. they are serious men with strict principles. they find a certain amount of pride and joy in their martial skills. they have ambition. they each have a dry sense of humor. yoda loves them. when they call each other "old friend" nothing has ever been more plausible to me.
did I enjoy the mando movie more than s3? oh yeah. was the movie amazing? no. I will tell you though. Filoni had not one but two cameos. and I wanted to throw tomatoes.
