we didn’t have a specific plot so so i imagned a pool that is accessible on every level. the levels were created with 3 major cut papers which creates a space without any limitations from walls. each of the levels is lobed with the intention to be eye-catching over the lanky ground. both pools quite deep, around 3 meters are not connected to other spaces. to reach each pool, we have to travel THROUGHOUT the structure. it is such a mixed space that every visitor is invited to follow an implicit route to discover the structure. the main subject in my concept is the play with natural lights. the light is coming through the steel structure. the rather quite big spaces creating an impressive sensation. every hour the light is changing just like the building.
i decided to compose the building in layers which alternate each other by the height of a step (17cm). i removed some materials to create empty spaces for the kitchen, the dining room, anD the tea room.. the light comes through the structure to highlight rays from sunlight. THE SMELLS ESCAPE FROM THIS PLACE TO ATTRACT GOURMETS PEOPLE. the accessible module interacts with empty spaces and light. The empty and full spaces balance each other horizontally but, when the human body comes to play, it is strictly on the vertical against the horizontal organized space.
THE PLOT IS LOCATED IN PARIS IN THE 4TH DISTRICT BETWEEN THE SEINE AND THE SAINT-PAUL CURCH. IT MEASURES 43 METERS IN LENGTH AND 20 METERS IN WIDTH. THE PROJECT CONSISTS IN CREATING A RIFT WHERE EVERY ACTIVITY CAN BE DEVELOPED. THOSE RIFTS CORRESPONDS TO APARTMENTS’ SUPPORT WALLS. THEY CREATE A SEMI-PUBLIC SPACE SPREADING ON THE GROUND BELOW THE HOUSINGS THAT PROTECT THE COMMON SPACES FROM THE RAIN. THE EMPTY SPACES, UNDER THE APARTMENTS; URGE PEOPLE TO WALK THROUGH THE FOREST OF PILLARS WHICH CONTAINS GARDEN, MUSICAL WORKSHOP, AND A LIBRARY.
THE PLOT, SITUATED IN MONTREUIL, IN THE SUBURBS NEAR PARIS, MEASURES 25 METERS IN LENGTH AND 8 METERS IN WIDTH. THE SPACE IS DIVIDED IN UNITS CORRESPONDING TO PRIVATE AND INTIMATE SPACE (ROOM) AND A SHELL IS COVERING THIS DIFFERENT UNITS CREATING A HOMOGENEOUS SPACE. TO RECEIVE ARTWORK, SPACE PLAYS UPON DUALITY AND PROXIMITY BETWEEN PRIVATE AND PUBLIC. THE WALLS, ON EACH SIDE, MEASURE AROUND 8 METERS HIGH. AND EACH UNITS WILLBE ATTACHED TO THEM TO CREATE LOTS OF CONTILEVERS. DECOMPOSED IN MID-LEVELS, WE CAN IDENTIFY 3 MAIN STEPS: 1: ENTRY 2: LIVING ROOM, KITCHEN, LIBRARY 3: TV & PLAY ROOM WHEN YOU ARE IN THE HOUSE, EITHER AS A VISITOR OR RESIDENT, INTIMATE SPACE ARE HIDDEN BUT THE COLLECTION OF ARTS ARE DISPLAYED ON CENTER STAGE. UNLIKE THE INSIDE, IN THE STREET, THE COLLECTION BECOMES HIDDEN AND PRIVATE FROM THE OUTSIDE, AND WE CAN SEE THE OLD PRIVATE SPACES LIKE THE BEDROOMS AND THE LIBRARY.
